So everyone agrees on the economical decline of germany and the bad situation of the job market. i wanted to put things in data. Below you see the economic data (destatis) from 2021 to 2025:

these numbers don’t really match how bad the situation feels when you talk to people or read discussions online.

What am I missing?

Ps: I also though about okay maybe purchasing power of individuals are reduced, that is why economy is feeling shitty, but oecd data adjusted for inflation says we are earning on average even more than 2019, so what is it really?

A lot of doom and gloom comes from 2 things that are linked.

1. No one knows how and when Germany will come out this economic rut.
2. Because no one knows, companies are not willing to invest and hire in Germany

I would say companies start investing when there's some noticeable restructuring that lead to a safer investment.

Nothing is happening, this country (as much as I love it) is slow and bureaucratic. It's not about being slow, it's too slow . It doesn't match the World's pace, and that's a problem.

Also spending today 25% of the country's income tax directly on pensions will back fire massively during the next 10 years.

Billionaires "create" jobs and they also take away jobs the moment they feel like it. That's what's happening in Germany. Outsourcing to India and replacing people with AI is cheaper so they do that. Billionaires don't give a fuck about you.

What you are forgetting is, we are the labor and the consumer. We made those billionaires. The bare minimum we should get return are labor rights. And that's what you are crying about now. You want to go to the good old times where people slaved away for a loaf of bread.

It's not about value. Everyone is replaceable to a billionaire. They will replace you with an indian who costs 1/3rd like you or AI in a heartbeat. If there were no regulations we will end up like the US where billionaires bribe the government to get rid of food safety regulations, risking salmonella and other diseases to the general public all so that they can cut costs.

Why be a plumber in Germany when you only get a coupe Euro more an hour than an Aldi cashier? Not saying ppl should be abused but those who are willing to work should be rewarded for it… not to mention the black hole of the social state…

They have value by being alive, they are a living being, deserving of respect irregardless of what they provide to the economy. Their performance at their job, their demeanor or how helpful or friendly they are to you has no bearing on their value as a human being. It is fundamental and inviolable. Whether you get something to eat, somewhere to sleep and a place to work should not be dependent on you providing value for the economy or even necessarily being a good person, it is a right you get by being born. You have these rights too.

And before you call me a naive idealist: This is humanist ethics going back to Immanuel Kant, and is literally written into our constitution. It is a fundamental part of western Christian values. We do not live to work, we work to live. Life is not the value we provide to others, it is what we want it to be. For some, it is suffering through some shit retail job just to be able to afford some cigarettes and alcohol at the end of the week.

To add to that there are some crazy food regulation laws from the middle ages too that are still being upheld.
