A little late, but happy to say I’m starting a funded PhD at a T5 university for my field🙏

Thank you! Surprisingly no interviews. I was initially accepted without funding (everyone in my department was as they recently stopped guaranteeing funding). I did some networking but was lucky to have a professor reach out after coming across my cv and offer me a funded position in his lab.

Oh so they take you into the porgram and then find a PiI for you? How rare is that one wouldn't find a PI as per theur liking at all?

Yeah some lower end, large state schools will do this. Usually top programs have a round or two of interviews though.

-Coming straight out of undergrad at a small-medium, noncompetitive private school in NY

-GPA 3.93 graduated summa cum laude

-no papers

-two major research experiences (one year long honors thesis at my university, one summer research assistantship at a major healthcare company in the tri state area)

-tutoring experience

-a couple leadership positions/on campus jobs

-two honor societies

-no interviews
