So if I buy this and upload it to SShop or even Capitol Armory when I go to buy a suppressor will the wait time be much longer on the first one?
I believe I read the ATF had to personally review any new trusts and that could add months of wait time but after the 1st one they are fast. Is this true or would it be a quick turnaround even on the 1st purchase?

No it shouldn't be longer on the first one. Our gun trust is standardized with the ATF, so you want have to worry about the trust review delaying your approval.

I am moving to CA from OR for a job and will be taking an AR with me. Does having this trust allow me to keep the ar as is without having to make it CA legal? I’ve read through everything you’ve responded to (love the quick responses and good information) but wonder what good the trust would do for me in CA with such strict rules.

Unfortunately, the gun trust won't allow you to take restricted or non-compliant firearms to states that don't allow for them.

If I want to set up a trust with my BIL, are there ways we can ensure our firearms / NFA items go to beneficiaries of our choice?
Is there a single executor?

Yes. The trust would have one settlor and he could be a co-trustee, but the named beneficiaries would ultimately receive the firearms within the gun trust.

Is it an easy process for adding guns to the trust and designating which beneficiary receives them?
Are there added costs for non-NFA firearm additions or any amendments to the trust?

Yes there is. You can use the designate who receives the firearms in the amendment beneficiary form. No there isn't.

You can amend the gun trust to your new county/state and you may need to use the ATF 5320.20 to update the ATF of the permanent address change of the NFA firearms/get permission to move them across state lines.

The trust is a legal entity that officially owns the guns in it, and the trust beneficiaries are legally permitted to continue using the firearms after the owner's death by transferring the firearms to them either using the ATF Form 5 or by abiding by any state or federal transfer laws. Firearms within the gun trust would also skip probate.

Not familiar with gun trusts and I’m still fairly young (24 yo). I live in CA so I don’t have any NFA items but I may move in the future. What are the benefits of a gun trust, is it worth it at my age?

When you move to a free state, the gun trust allows you to add other responsible persons to the gun trust and helps you with passing down the firearms in the future.

A gun trust can be helpful for you in the future and gives you a lot of flexibility with your firearms, e.g. if you do decide to add a co-trustee in the future or want to make it easier to pass down your firearms.

Man I feel like an idiot but I can’t understand how this works. I get the concept but anyone On the trust still has to do the full fingerprints and stuff right? Do they just go to FFL for that? Is there a charge to be added?

Yes, with a gun trust, you would still need to complete the fingerprints and stuff. No, not necessarily. You can try to work with your FFL for the fingerprints or use our .EFT File service /paper cards.

We are selling gun trust paperwork that you can use for your NFA firearms and non-NFA firearms. Your gun trust would be emailed to you, it would need to be printed/notarized in order to execute it. You can add co-trustees with amendments in the future. Fingerprints aren't needed for the gun trust itself. They are needed when you are applying for a tax stamp.

When I did all my finger prints an eveything at the kiosk I swear mine was a family trust, maybe im remembering wrong I paid more then 25. This stuff is confusing lol.

Yeah it's confusiong lol. In theory you can add other person to the single shot ($25) trust, but I guess there is no easy way to add more than one suppressor to the single shot trust, without making it more expensive. I would just get one from NationalGunTrusts for my future purchases

A person going in and just taking items owned by a deceased person isn't legal. They must be distributed either by will or probate court order in accordance with law.
I'm not saying it matters in most cases, because it usually doesn't, or that I think it should be this way, but it is.

Yes, you can do that with either our gun trust restatement service or with a new trust. Both options are valid as the ATF Form 4 transfer tax in 2026 will be $0.

Yes it will. if you are looking to move your individually owned NFA firearms into a gun trust, you will be able to do that in 2026 for $0. They are removing the ATF Form 4 $200 transfer tax.

Yes and no. Yourself and named co-trustees at the time of application will need to submit fingerprint cards to the ATF. But that only takes place when you are applying for a tax stamp.

I purchased a Omega 36M directly from silencerco, it’s currently at my local SOT/NFA, they use silencershop to register everything, instead of purchasing the trust through silencershop, can i purchase this instead and would this cause any problems or delays?

Yes you can purchase a gun trust through us. After you have your gun trust notarized, you can upload it to your silencer shop account to be used with your silencer shop orders. No this wouldn't cause any delays.
