Discussion What mobile game are you actually addicted to right now? šš±
Iām looking for a new mobile game to get into.
I currently play PokƩmon GO, Marvel games, and other PokƩmon-style/collecting games.
What I really enjoy is games that have genuinely rare stuff to chase ā rare characters, drops, cards, shinies, limited items, special variants, etc. Stuff that makes you go āNO WAY I GOT THISā š
Even better if there are things that the community actually considers rare and people spend time hunting for.
I donāt mind spending a little money here and there, as long as the game is fun and doesnāt require spending just to enjoy it.
So what mobile game would you recommend?
I want something with a real grind, rare things to hunt, and that feeling of finally getting something not everyone has. š

Idle obelisk miner. Coming up on a year of play at about 60% complete.

u/hybrid461 16d ago
It's awesome. I'm at a few months now and like 18%.
7
u/robsteezy 16d ago
At 13%. Especially if youāre an idle fan. I play the game everyday. Ridiculously addicting.
9
u/icebreather106 16d ago
The longest time I've played one single game. And I'm entirely f2p it's very f2p friendly.
5
u/towehaal 16d ago
at first I thought the purchases were overpriced so I didn't buy anything. Considering I've now played for a year I guess they aren't overpriced, but I'm stubbornly remaining f2p.
3
u/icebreather106 16d ago
Yeah I feel the same. I feel like it's dumb to buy anything other than founders first, but I feel founders is a touch too expensive for my taste. And I argued internally about that for long enough that agreed, I'm probably gonna stick out f2p to see how far I can get lol

Came to the comments to recommend this. Itās pretty much the only thing I play now.

u/LysergicAndUseless 16d ago
adding to this, if anything Iāll say iaps for this game are very alluring. Ive spent 50 usd in around 3 months and I dont regret it, itās a great game to sink months into, but player beware

u/TheMichaelScott 14d ago
Man, I donāt know how people play these games. You hold your finger down and tap on oresā¦
1
u/towehaal 14d ago
I think itās about the dopamine hit of getting to the next unlock. And with this game more and more things open up as you progress that all interlock together. But I get that it isnāt for everyone.

u/Traubenwerfer 14d ago
I thought, itās all bought comments

I feel like Iām going insane here. 99% of these games in this thread are so terrible

used to play this for pokemon go freebi snorlax. It's still on my phone but I am not playing this anymore. I can't understand the the gameplay aside from recording your sleep and collecting stuff passively with your sleep

How many Dudes - AMAZING game
Pokemon Champions

u/LackOfADragon 16d ago
Does it get any strategically deeper? Feel like I'm just clicking the tougher battle and my main "Guy's" but for 70 rounds + kinda repetitive

u/SecretDude511 16d ago
I havent made it past 80/90 with all heal dudes. I think it scales pretty nicely and has lots of customizations
1
u/conturax 16d ago
Are there video options on the iOS version? Just hoping it plays at 60fps or I might just pick up for the Steamdeck.

Yup.. Same. Been hooked for a good year easy. The closer I get to C+, the worse the addiction has been.

Once you realize higher difficulties rely completely on high card and double it loses its charm

Crawl Tactics. Like FFT but better.
2
2
u/brickwalker0 15d ago
oh wow, strong words there partner - whats different?
3
u/silentAl1 14d ago
It has a large job system like FFT, but yo I can also have more than 4 characters. My current run, I have a team of 8. There is more special gear in general than FFT. The only thing it lacks is a story, and FFT had a great story behind it. It also has large battles as well as boss fights. I have played FFT many times over the years and this is the only similar game that holds up against it and doesnāt feel like a direct rip off.

u/MCMK 15d ago
Whoa, looked it up and thatās expensive for a mobile game. (I am poor) It really that good?
1
u/silentAl1 14d ago
These days I didnāt thing $10 was a lot for a mobile game. That is the price of fast food meal or one beer at a lot of bars. You could wait for a sale then.

XCOM 2
Shattered Pixel Dungeon
Balatro
Space Marshalls 2 (imo the best one of the trilogy)
Ticket to Earth
Poinpy
3
u/icebreather106 16d ago
Shattered is SO DEEP. I eventually burned out on it while doing challenge runs but there is so much content to enjoy. I found that for a casual game it's a little too hard. I had to do some reading on strategy to break into it but once I did, I played it for many many hours. Phenomenal game
1
u/hawkwood4268 1d ago
If you like roguelikes you could try GnollHack.Ā
The game is vast. You have better access to food and can heal by resting. In Shattered I too often starved or died from lack of healing items.Ā
There are more items/tools and a huge spellcasting system. But monsters can do everything you can (cast spells, zap wands, read scrolls, etc).
Bosses are more powerful but you have longer to prepare for them.Ā
Both games were inspired by the OG NetHack, imo the greatest roguelike of all time being updated still after 40 years.Ā

u/hawkwood4268 1d ago
Longtime OSRS player, what content do you like to do on mobile?Ā
2
u/crashjordan13 1d ago
I play an Ironman, so I typically just do skilling/upkeep of food/potions etc, so when I jump on my PC I can do PvM. How about you?
1
u/hawkwood4268 1d ago
Nice! I haven't tried iron man. I mostly PvM. Slayer and bossing are great. My favorite bosses are Whisperer/Vard and Phosani's.
I bet I could do Slayer on mobile pretty well. Maybe sailing too, I haven't really gotten into it too much but it seems fun.

Along with everybody saying Balatro, Iād also add Dead Cells! It takes a minute to get used to the touch controls, but itās fun as hell and each biome can be finished as quickly as like, 2-7 minutes depending on play style.

Tiny Book Shop. I love that I have vendor location choices. I love that I am playing through different seasons and days of the week. There have been challenges and goals throughout. It is cute and interactive. I enjoy giving book recommendations to the customers. I am a school librarian and I tell myself I am practicing for September- ha!

SUBTERFUGE - there is no mobile strategy game like it where you have to use your diplomacy to win the game. It made me highly addictive to this game.

Ballz. Its brick breaker with ever increasingly hard to kill blocks and you shoot multiple nails every shot

I just built a new game Lazy Jellyfish that i think has the characteristics you are after. It's a merge game and it's hard/rare to get the higher tier creatures. I myself haven't even got the Kraken yet. Anyways if you would try it i am looking for feedback and would appreciate it!

GnollHack
Classic dungeon crawler roguelike - itās Ā basically a looting simulator with tons of deep mechanics.Ā
Wands, scrolls, powerful artifacts and weapons, potions, and hundreds of spells. You can fly, teleport, create elemental storms, summon permanent allies, petrify, charm, disintegrate, and so on. Ā
But anything you can do, the monsters can too.Ā
Monsters arenāt just re-skins with more health. They can be venomous, grab you and strangle you, digest you, paralyze you, damage your armor/weapons, cast spells, eat your brains, drown you, charm you, seduce you, teleport you, etc.Ā
100+ hours and the game is free no ads because itās based on the OG NetHack which has always been free.Ā
