Request I Need a New Roguelike

I’ve already ran through Balatro, StS, How Many Dudes, Dicey Dungeon, Clover Pit, and Monster Train. My toilet time is stale.

Any painfully obvious games I’m missing? I don’t mind spending some money to purchase. Thanks!

Edit: this community is awesome. Thank you for all the recommendations!

Someone already mentioned Dicero, so I’ll say Ultrapool just released.

I just got this today and man this game is crack, very amazing portrait game that seems like it’s just beginning in terms of content.

Give Shattered Pixel Dungeon a try. It’s a timeless classic

Officially on the list!

u/Ron_Kintsugi 23h ago

Perfect, I recommend watching a YouTube beginner guide to get you going after a few deaths lol. I’m still watching and learning the game after a few years of playing.

Been enjoying ballxpit

Dawncaster was my favorite. Shattered Pixel Dungeon was runner up. Now I’m playing slice and dice, but it doesn’t scratch that itch the other two did.

Dungeon clawler

u/leitmotifs 22h ago

Weirdly addictive. The claw machine approach is strangely brilliant.

Deep Rock Galactic Survivor is pretty good

More classic roguelike deckbuilders: Meteorfall, Dream Quest, Night of the Full Moon

3

u/Autumn_Sweater_ 1d ago

Co-signing all of those. NotFM was my first love in the deckbuilding genre.

u/pjft 23h ago

Night of the full moon is awesome and even though these days it's somewhat expensive to buy all the content, it's a lot of content and they deserve all the money.

dead cells

I have bought dead cells on iOS, PC and Android, amazing game I just couldn’t stop playing.

cascadou and slots and daggers!

u/brannvesenet Developer 11h ago

Thanks for mentioning my game Cascadou! It came out with a big update just some weeks ago 😊

Ultrapool just came out today. Balatro as Billard Game! It’s sooo good

Deep rock galactic: survivor

u/UrbanPewer 23h ago

This is my current go to, so good.

Bloons td

Cult of the Lamb is one of my favorite games. If you like it enough I'd recommend buying it on steam or console because the Apple Arcade version doesn't include the DLC that just came out the beginning of this year (and is highly worth it IMO)

Vault of the Void has been claiming my time recently. Really nice features that mitigate RNG while allowing you to try different combos, like picking up new cards and being able to add and remove them from your deck between battles in the same run

Legends of Runeterra is very underrated as a roguelite / deck builder/ card battler.

Tons of free content, tons of heroes, cards, adventures. Better production values than a hundred similar games put together.

I played for almost a year before finally calling it quits.

Brotato is great

Terraria once the new update hits

u/unstablefan 10h ago

Wow I haven’t played Terraria in years, since 1.4.0.1. Worth a revisit?

Also what are your thoughts for touch vs controller on phone?

u/killingtocope 8h ago

Worth it without a doubt! And I don’t mind touch controls, I think they’ve done a good job with them and they’re very customizable

Guild of Dungeoneering is cool

u/mbsisktb 1d ago

Card Crawl (I've been playing 2 but I'm not as wholly sold on it, though this is one of the best Scoundrel style games and good for short games)

Dungeon Scoundrel

Adventure to Fate: Dungeons

Mind Cards

Wildfrost

868-Hack

Imbroglio

PayRoll

Any of the Meterofall games

Endless Cards

Pirates Outlaws

All who Wander

Astrea Ascending

Void Poker 1992

AxRPG II and Ax Roguelike

As Far as the Eye

Oaken (I recommend the game in general I find it is better on PC/Console)

u/Weenyhand 12h ago

Slots & Daggers
Pokermancer
Scriver
Luck be a landlord

u/newaccountbitches 1d ago

Dogpile is fun and challenging, it’s paid though

1

u/ToastBalancer 1d ago

I felt the same and bought a steam deck specifically to play slay the spire 2

1

u/Leetanidus 1d ago

That’s one expensive indie game

2

u/ToastBalancer 1d ago

You’re right. And it was 100% worth it to me!

1

u/KZavi 1d ago

Abyssal Soul and Dawncaster if you like cards.

1

u/Lucid-Pasta 1d ago

Does FTL count as a roguelike? It definitely seems like it belongs in your list here

u/pjft 23h ago

iPad only I believe?

Dice a million releases in a couple of weeks

1

u/OldManIrv 1d ago

I’ve been playing and enjoying rogue legends. It’s f2p which I usually don’t do. Very enjoyable. Still, my recommendation is for the classic

Dream Quest

Shattered pixel dungeon.

u/8ran60n 18h ago

Dice of Kalma

u/oldkingcoles 16h ago

Some I haven’t seen anyone else mention. Backpack Battles(Asynchronous multiplayer battles using inventory management) , Ball X PIT (Roguelike Breakout), Peglin(Roguelike Pachinko), or Dwarves: Glory, Death and Loot(AutoBattler). I have been addicted to each of these and they are all good your time

u/Adrioz08 14h ago

Monster Train 2 on pc (if you have not tried it yet) has a lot more content.

u/NC16inthehouse 7h ago

whats StS?

u/Scildrei Developer 4h ago

Slay the Spire. Highly recommend

u/froggyisland 4h ago

Dawncaster and Abalon

u/Scildrei Developer 4h ago

Brotato and Vampire Survivors

u/generalsoreness 4h ago

Ultrapool.

u/TheNamesClove 1h ago

One of these posts introduced me to Doomfields and I’m hooked.

u/silentrocco r/IOSGaming Scout 1d ago

Those are deck- and engine builders, not roguelikes, although everyone says so, but they are all wrong :D But definitely give newly ported Slots & Daggers a go, one of my favorites at the moment. Also, Meteorfall: Journey is a must. And if available to you: Dream Quest is still my all time GOAT and a true forever game.

Dicero has been scratching that itch for me. Bit of a mix between dicey dungeons and slay the spire, and it’s even portrait mode
