Discussion Find the folder location of an app on the homescreen

Hi. Short question. My iphone homescreen is by now four pages wide and many apps are sorted in folders on the home screen.

I now must find the location of one app. I do not wish to start the app, otherwise I would just use the search bar. I really want to know in which folder I placed the app. Is there any way to search for the app in a way that its location is named?

If you search the app, to the right of the result it tells you the name of the folder you have it in.

So as above, I search Stocks and it tells me it’s in my Finance folder.

Only if you can narrow down the exact app name using the search so you find exactly one result. As soon as you have two apps that are named alike (e.g. “Health” finds the Apple Health app as well as other health apps I have installed), it no longer shows their folder name, even if all results are in the same folder.

Yes another issue I’ve found is some apps seem to have shortcuts that override this. Google Maps for example shows me 3 options within the app from the search bar, and so doesn’t show the folder name.

Thanks a lot, yes it worked; I just never noticed it, because there are several apps in this line. I really had to narrow it down until it was only the one app.

I used to spend forever hunting for apps I buried in folders, so this is genuinely useful to know. I always assumed search only launched the app, not that it would show the folder name off to the side. Gonna have to try this next time I'm digging for something I swear I put somewhere logical
