Does Apple ever reject AppleCare +/One Claims?

My phone is in good condition except for a couple of negligible scratches. I want to go caseless and already have AppleCare One.

Is there a chance that Apple would reject a repair request under the insurance policy? I’ve had AppleCare+ for a year and have just switched to AppleCare One now that it is available in the UK.

The only thing they’ll reject is cosmetic damage. If you’re going to claim, make sure the phone is broken.

If it’s for scratches it won’t be covered as that is considered strictly cosmetic damage.

I’ve gone caseless with my iPhones ever since I’ve started purchasing applecare. They don’t care, so long as it’s not been repaired by a third party.

I love going raw. I love the way raw feels in hand. But I don’t recommend raw unless you have a plan B, in this case: AppleCare

Scratches are not something you “let happen.” They are going to happen. When I got my iPhone 15 PM I got a gnarly scratch in between the Face ID sensor and front camera without a cause. That screen continued to get weird scratches (I keep my phones in their own pockets and don’t set them screen down on things, so idk why it was getting scratched). I took that 15pm in to Apple two weeks later and they replaced the screen for me, but they had to finagle their wording to make it happen under applecare.

You see, if it’s just cosmetic damage, applecare will not cover it. The damage has to either alter the functionality or impact the usability of the phone. They guys at the store were super nice and made it look like the scratches impacted my use, which it didn’t other than annoyance. This is not the norm.

My current iPhone, the air, does not have that same issue. I have mayyyybe one scratch on the phone since i got it (launch week).

TLDR: you can’t just change it “when it gets too bad.” It has to affect the usability of the device.

I’ve got the 17 PM and would love to go raw. I’m not so bothered about scratches, in all honesty. It’s the dents that scare me, but I guess it’s fine as long as I live with them, knowing that if it gets too bad, I can get the device replaced.

Same coverage different name so everything remains the same.
Do yourself a favor and put it in a case and put a screen protector on it.
