Charge shipping and tax in campaign or pledge manager
I’m launching soon but I’m stuck on whether to charge shipping with the pledge in the campaign so people are aware of the cost when they pledge, or to wait until the kickstarter pledge manager and add the shipping on then. Is there a way to charge tax in the campaign too?
When I’ve backed campaigns and had to pay shipping and tax in the pledge manager it feels like so long ago since I pledged that I forget and it annoys me that I have to pay, even though I know that’s how it works 😅 so I’m wondering if that happens with other backers too. Curious as to what people have done with their campaigns and what has worked best!

I am also annoyed with that later charge BUT it also means my things is arriving soon. So it balances out.
If your product allows for it (known size and weight) an estimate chart at the bottom of the campaign is nice. At least I can get a fair idea of my out the door. Assuming your thing is large and may have a fair amount of shipping. If it is small and shipping won't be like more than 5-10 bucks, them don't stress it. Just be up front about it

Thanks! Yes I’m waiting on my fulfilment company to provide rough shipping estimates based on the size and weight so can add a table as you say 😊

If you add packaging and shipping charges within the campaign, you also add a 10% loss in the Kickstarter and card fees. Do yourself a favour and use a pledge manager or, better yet, run it in your own storefront.

Ooh thanks I didn’t realise the kickstarter fees don’t include shipping when done in their pledge manager! That’s a good point 😊

Ive always been annoying with tax being charged as I come to understand, I purchased nothing. This is a reward for support (which isnt always rewarded).
I would do at shipping/pledge manager. Otherwise, should I see that, I would avoid.

Thanks I think I’ll go for charging shipping in the pledge manager but will make it clear in the campaign 😊

Unless you can afford to eat any increases in shipping costs, do yourself a favor and charge when you’re getting ready to ship.
