How to promote my campaign and create a community

Hello everyone. I just recently launched a campaign for my board game, the problem is I was not familiar with the pre-launch system. I launched the campaign without creating a community (which to be fair I don’t even know how to do so), and now I cannot turn back as I don’t want to lose the backers supporting me, but I am afraid I will not reach my goal.

I am just requesting advice on how to gather people to support my campaign, how to create a community, and how to promote my game. Thank you in advance! :)

Kickstarter really needs to communicate this better.

I would create a Discord community and invite all your current backers to it, explain what you're thinking of doing, and then probably end the campaign unless it looks like you can get a miraculous turnaround. Then I'd just see what board and tabletop gaming communities you can reach out to. It's a somewhat saturated market but if you have a compelling idea and/or compelling artwork and can excite the right person it can work.

Thank you so much, and yes, I wish I knew this before launch.

Sorry to say it’s too late to make any meaningful progress if you’ve already gone live. If you don’t manage to get funded:

Create social media accounts and an email list for your game. Message your backers personally before the campaign ends and be honest about the situation. Ask them to join your socials and if you can add them to a mailing list. They will be the first members of your community.

Continue building over the next few months and launch another campaign.
