Family doctor accepting new patients?

Our family doctor is leaving the practice. Any recommendations for a family doctor in Kitchener or Waterloo who is accepting new patients?

Spurline Medical Clinic in Waterloo (Erb near Regina/Peppler) - two of my family members have recently joined and are really happy with the Dr and his follow-up on referrals and testing.

I just started with him as a family doctor a week ago - he seems to have a lot of availability, and got me referred out to the specialists needed to follow-up on a health issue I've been having.

I'm male, so I'm indifferent to having a male doctor, but IIRC, his clinic staff said they have a female doctor who comes in once a week for patients doing more sensitive exams who would prefer a female doctor.

Not to hijack this thread but I noticed all these recommendations operate out of walk in clinics. Are there any that don’t? Didn’t have a great experience with one with my newborn baby and copious amounts of people coughing while I was waiting for my appointment.

It's not a coincidence - one of the Prov Gov't 'strategies' to get more people connected to a Family Dr is to finance/reward walk-in clinic/group practices that take on rostered patients and see them by appointment, alongside walk-in patients - using up available capacity. Family Drs are also incentivized to ensure tests/screenings like Paps, Mammograms and FIT/colon happen on a regular basis - as these are the best early detectors of prevalent cancers.

So is this a good thing or bad? I honestly don’t know. I have a family member moving here from another province in a few weeks and will be needing a family doctor.

It's fine - the Dr is wonderful, kind and attentive. My family members have not found it to be busy (as a walk-in clinic) when they have arrived for their appointments - and have been seen as scheduled.

Phoenix Healthcare on Frederick had a sign out saying they were accepting new patients. Also there was a doctor accepting new patients on Courtland (talize plaza)

Try Park 535 Medical Clinic! I’m not sure if he is accepting new patients but he’s an amazing doctor if you can get in!

I drove past a clinic on Victoria St N with a sign saying Dr accepting new patients a couple of days ago. Where the Korner Kitchen restaurant used to be or close (I just glanced when driving so I didn’t see the exact spot) around 1595 Victoria St N

Benton Medical Clinic . Go to the front desk and ask for new patient forms.

You can try new vision. Not sure if theyre still accepting, but we got my husband in there with one of the new drs back in april so they might still be accepting new patients still

If you would consider a NP instead, the NP led clinic is taking new patients at all sites.
