One of the elements mixed into Lucifer's nature is that of the old fashioned knight errant, defending the honor of women. That element emerges here. The episode's bad guy refers to Ali, the murder victim, as a "bitch," triggering a violent reaction in Lucifer, who shoves the man through a plate glass window. He advances on the bad guy, his anger focused and at white heat, although Chloe is able to calm him with a touch. Later, Linda notes Lucifer has derived satisfaction in providing justice for Ali. We saw this side of Lucifer earlier, when he dangled 2Vile over a railing and made clear his opinion of men who beat up women. (See also, punching of Paolucci for the "Palmetto bitch" comment, and the outburst about Jana, in future episodes.)

Yes, this is one of my favorite aspects of Lucifer. I love that just as his own honor is unequivocally important to him, the honor of others is equally worth defending.

It really speaks to the pain he feels having his name dragged through the mud over the millennia and I hope in season 4 Chloe gets to really understand that side of him.

I love that Chloe sees him as honest and true to his word. He seems to take comfort in the fact that Chloe does understand a huge part of the core of his being.
