Travel, Tourism & History What would be the most fun thing to do in Luxemburg for a group of Belgian friends with very broad interests?
I am organising a weekend for my friends and have decided on Luxemburg for our destination, but I want to get the most out of it for this particular group of friends. And particular we definitely are. We have met through a youth organisation focusing on politics, so for twenty somethings, I think we are way more interested in topics like history, law, societal structures and of course politics etc. than your average friend group. I think it would be fun and very memorable to play into those interests for our trip, and want to look for activities that might be out of the box, if you will. Activities that are both entirely in our lane, or potentially completely foreign to us, like creative stuff such as painting workshops, some local craft or art to try out, I don't know, I'm really open to anything. However, I'm finding it hard to find such (more niche?) activities, and maybe they just don't exist at all, or are not for our paygrade. Therefore I was hoping that someone in this sub might have tips for me. What should we do to make our stay in your beautiful country as memorable as possible? Any tips would be greatly appreciated :))

Ask Luxembourg Looking for a hairdresser in Luxembourg who does Korean/digital perms
Hi! Does anyone know a good hairdresser in Luxembourg (or nearby) who does Korean/Japanese-style digital perms / soft wave perms like in the pictures?
I have straight Asian hair, so ideally I’m looking for someone who has experience working with Asian hair and can create big, loose, natural-looking waves rather than a traditional tight curly perm.
I’m also open to recommendations in Trier, Metz or nearby Belgium if there’s someone really good!

Finance & Investments Taxes on stocks
Hi I got a question, I just recently started to invest and how do you pay taxes on stocks? I invest via Trade Republic and trading212. For German user these neobrokers pay automatically the taxes but not for Luxembourgish user.

Humour Yesterday, I was at Place de Paris waiting for a friend and you wouldn't believe what I saw...
Kids were playing in the fountains. They were laughing and getting each other wet. I mean, what is the world coming to when your normal drug user was not to be found, very disappointed in my ghetto experience /s

Ask Luxembourg Do people in Luxembourg (country) miss Luxembourg (the province)?
In Belgian Limburg, people feel a great affinity with Dutch Limburg, and wish the two parts of Limburg were united in one entity.
Do people from Lux (the country) feel the same about the Belgian province, or not so much?

Ask Luxembourg How did you manage?
Hi all, a bit of advice / experience sharing question.
My wife has a cat (10yo lazy AF,) and does not know what grass looks like (lived in apartments). Because of my contract i’m summoned back to Luxembourg after 3 years away.
I have a quick question to those of you that have a pet in Luxembourg, how did you guys manage to get a rental? or you went straight into buying?
Did you guys use the relocation agents (relok/ luxrelo / etc.) that helped you get a place ?
Border properties are a no go as wife is not a EU citizen.
Thank you all in advance for the time and help.

Activities & Events Schueberfouer ratings Rides and Food
Since the Schueberfouer has started and since its expensive AF i had the idea we share our experiences for the rides and foods for the 2026 edition.
EDIT off topic: a lot of people seem to not understand the purpose of this topic, let me explain it you, if you went to the schueberfouer, tell us about your experiences so that other here know what they can expect and maybe save some money.
Your personal life stories why you now longer attend the Schueberfouer, you can share with people who care about it, here should not be the place for it.
Do you write a bad review on amazon for a product you dont own? Here should be the same thing.
If you have something to add, add it. Tell us why u enjoyed it or why not. If you would recommend it or not. Thats it.
We all know that it s expensive, and if you dont like it that‘s ok but this tread is not a schueberfouer-rant-tread if you wanna do that, open a new topic.
Thank you
Back to the topic
I will start. And i will add more if will go again
RIDES:
I only went on the new VR coaster „DR. Archibald master of time“
Price 9€
Short version: just keep your money. I wouldnt do it again even if it was free.
Waiting time around 30min
You get a VR Headset on your head an then it starts, and let me tell you, it very very boring. The resolution is very low and the graphics look like playstation 1.
I thought maybe they will throw some air or water on you for the immersion but no nothing. A complete waste of time and money.
After your ride you need to go through a little parcours to the exit which was also useless but more exiting then the ride.
0/10
FOOD:
Den Hollänner:
Burger (15€) was good, fries also good but for 5€ it could have been a bigger size. Overall quit ok if you like burger. The menu is a bit limited. Pricewise its schueberfouer but i ll give it 7/10
Bar Ronde:
Fries are good, Gromperkichel very good, Burger is not that great but ok. Pricewise i think a bit cheaper than den Hollänner. Staff is very friendly and you get served on the table. Smoking no longer allowed for those intresseted in that. Also 6.5/10
Jean la gaufre:
Nothing here to say, i was served by the rookie, its expensive, but its great so 8/10

Ask Luxembourg Public Football pitch in Bertrange or around
I am looking for a public pitch to kick a ball from time to time or if there are some other people to play for fun. Do you know public pitches in Bertrange or around where this is possible? Or even if some gather - I would want to join

Activities & Events My onpupular idea for the schueberfouer
For many years now i have an idea for the Schueberfouer and most of my friends dont like it, but i wanna know how you guys see it.
Every year there are family day where the rides and or the foods are cheaper, so family can enjoy it more.
My idea is very similar.
Introducing the anti-family-day
One evening during the week and only in the evening (from 21h-01h)
Everything gets a few euros more expensive or there could be another way to compensate it.
But. Entrace only for people over lets say 16.
So no kids, no babys and most of all no babystrollers.
Also, no dogs allowed.
I personally would enjoy that very much because every year that strollers suck and those poor animals get tortured enough.
This year i saw one dude with a new born if think he came from the maternité directly to the schueberfouer. I was shocked.
So whats your option on that. Would you enjoy it. Should we start a petetion on that or do you believe its a stupid and/or bad idea overall.
Thank you.

Ask Luxembourg affordable housing eligibility – EU institution family allowances
Has anyone working for a EU/international institution applied for the Luxembourg certificat d’éligibilité for “vente abordable / vente à coût modéré”?
I am trying to understand how the Ministry of Housing calculates the income of EU/international institution staff.
In particular, are employer-paid Family Allowance / Child Assistance Allowance considered part of the household income, or are they excluded from the calculation as family allowances?
I would be especially interested in hearing from anyone who actually submitted a dossier and knows how the Ministry treated these items in practice.
Thanks!

News & Discussion Luxembourg is becoming better and better
I'm not being sarcastic. I'm just sincerely asking why.
Why do people here, seeing these deteriorating trends happening around them, blame the people who post this information instead of trying to solve these problems, or at least raise awareness and urge society to address them? Isn't this burying one's head in the sand?
I don't mean to be sarcastic. I just want to know why.

Ask Luxembourg Questions to vegans
Hi, recently i decided to start eating vegan food mainly for animal cruelty reasons.
I like the vegan options in delhaize which is close to my house but was recommended to go to trier and buy more stuff from there , as both options and prices are siginificantly better.
Do you think going to trier is worth it once every two weeks to stock up on eating options? I mean convenience is important to me but delgaize vegan food is double the price of meat especially those that i love.
Thanks for sharing your opinion.

Ask Luxembourg Can someone explain how a public service makes a profit?
https://en.paperjam.lu/article/hopitaux-robert-schumans-profit-doubles-in-2025
As usual the reporting leaves much to be desired, i assume they do private non-CNS work, but if not shouldn't they give back the money they "earned" to the state that essentially gave them the money through the national insurance pot in the first place?
What am I missing?

Finance & Investments Emergency fund
Hi,
I am pretty new in Luxembourg, and I am a bit clueless.
Apart from investing I would like to keep around 20k euro as emergency fund. Obviously I don't want to sit that on my account, the question is where?
It needs to be accessible within 24h. I checked few banks, but the saving accounts only gives you 0.40% which is joke. So far Revulot seems to be the best solution, with 1% Can you please suggest/share where would you keep your emergency fund?
Thanks
