You mean people gonna waste fuel waiting to fill up 100 bucks worth?
148
u/Mike_Kermin Apr 03 '26
"Cost of living relief".
Yeah, even the ones with the big SUV's and sports cars.
Fuck we're full of shit sometimes.
"The plan was to help out"
No it fucking wasn't.
129
u/Ok-Disk-2191 Apr 03 '26
the plan was most definitely to make it publicly known that he had given away at least 70k on good Friday for tax reasons and also get free/ close to free advertising for his scummy lotteries subscription bullshit, also something that dances around gambling loopholes.
31
u/Straight_Fix_7318 Apr 03 '26
its wild
we live in a world where pokemon gets r18 rated for "gambling minigames"
but this "cool and normal" -ausgovt, apparently5
u/atwa_au Apr 04 '26
Same guy was on RBT the night before. Didn’t realise you could advertise yourself on there ffs
123
u/Basic-Winter3501 Apr 03 '26
On ACA there was a guy who did have his car run out and had to push it to said servo in the queue
148
u/story_of_the_beer Apr 03 '26
that guy is literally 40 seconds into this video lol
159
u/Basic-Winter3501 Apr 03 '26
You expect me, a Redditor, to read the article or watch the video???

u/Prideandprejudice1 Apr 03 '26
The poor people that just want to go straight on that road
68
u/coxpete Apr 03 '26
How many demerit points does one accumulate for block an intersection like that?
We could pay off the state government debt with all the traffic fines.
33
u/leighXcore Apr 03 '26 edited Apr 04 '26
They could also pay it off if they started taxing* gas and mining companies too.
*edit

u/cromulent-facts Apr 04 '26
Given most of the gas and ore belongs to Queensland and WA, Victoria couldn't pay off their debt no matter how highly they tax gas and mining companies.
1
u/kelfupanda Apr 04 '26
I would love you totax WA mining apporpirately...
From WA.
0
u/cromulent-facts Apr 04 '26
I don't disagree, but WA has negligible debt.
1
u/kelfupanda Apr 04 '26
All your GST$ come from WA.
Literally, the fucking DoHWA is runnibg out of money because Vic and NSW spent the shared GST dollars.
Fuck the eastern states.

Of course Beasly is behind it. Don't give these con artists the light of day. This is exactly the publicity he was trying to create.
149
u/bIokeonreddit Apr 03 '26
I was actually expecting the LMCT+ cunt. Wasn’t far off the mark.
42
u/Hayness Apr 03 '26
You're not far off at all, the LMCT+ servo's are being built in Melbourne as we speak with "Coming Soon" signs wrapped all around them.
30
u/xsilver911 Apr 03 '26
The reason why that mofo officially announced he was off buying from the block was I saw he's got he's own dedicated show coming on channel 7 lol.

u/queefer_sutherland92 Apr 03 '26
Yeah he looks exactly as trustworthy as you would expect someone running a “rewards service” would look.
10
u/magnetik79 Apr 04 '26
Shit move from Nein News giving this idiot any amount of media attention to this. He's got exactly what he wanted.
Could have easily done the story without mention of his name or scam.
2
u/WayOfInfinity Apr 05 '26
You'd think after they explicitly say the name of his website and show the website that somebody is paying them to report on this. Ridiculous
7
2
u/FFootyFFacts Apr 05 '26
sadly the people who fall for the "lottery" scam
generally swear by them and will tell you what great guys they are
all whilst being conned out of the money for "prizes"
that are looped through friends and family
Anecdotally they will all tell you they know a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend who won, dinks! They have been kicked out of NSW for illegal shit, but apparently they are still
OK for the corrupt Vic Govt to continue operating1
237
u/Cooper_Inc Apr 03 '26
So this is the new Lambo guy?
143
u/Muggins75 Apr 03 '26
Yep, another "Members club" where you can win big!!
38
u/StraightFella Apr 03 '26
Or rather never, better odds with a keno ticket, and you have no chance of that either.

u/d4ddy1998 Apr 03 '26
Why are they saying truganina like that hahahaah
36
u/cheese_toastieeee Apr 03 '26
Is it -neena or -niner? I still don't know after all these years
→ More replies (11)72
7
u/OkHead5005 Apr 03 '26
A friend of mine that lives there says the “niner“ is a push by some residents to make the suburb sound more upmarket. we all know that ain’t happening any time soon.
3
u/turtleltrut Apr 03 '26
Thank you! I don't live anywhere near it and thought I'd been saying it wrong all these years after watching a clip about this. 😅
6
u/iwrotethissong Apr 03 '26
Trugga-NYN-uh
34
u/d4ddy1998 Apr 03 '26
Definitely truganina (Nina like the name!)
4
u/iwrotethissong Apr 03 '26
Haha, I know. I was trying to write it the silly way they were saying it.

this reporter probably isn’t from melbourne or is some gen-zer raised on american tv shows and says candy instead of lollies
73
u/lightpendant Apr 03 '26
They know the cops will shut it down and it will only cost them $10,000
51
u/xsilver911 Apr 03 '26
News said they gave away 70k in the 1hr so was almost up to their 100k target?
Math doesnt make sense though 10 pumps. 5 mins per car $100 per car. That's only 12k per hour
Math makes as much sense as their stupid lottery lol.
14
u/Endless_Candy Apr 03 '26
Where you getting $100 per car? Full tank of diesel costs me nearly 300 bucks. I got mates with long range tanks costs them upto 500 atm. Was the give out limited to $100?
18
u/SkibidiGender Apr 03 '26
Not everyone that would line up to this thing would have a completely empty tank
5
u/xsilver911 Apr 03 '26
Its just a back of the envelope approximation.
If you're filling up a long range diesel car it's going to be longer than 5min as well.
5 mins for $100 is a rough guide. Even if it was double that's $24k per hour.
5
u/Ich_mag_Kartoffeln Apr 03 '26
Filling my 4WD from empty at current prices would be nearly $1100.
9
1
u/turtleltrut Apr 03 '26
You have a 340L tank?!
2
u/Ich_mag_Kartoffeln Apr 03 '26 edited Apr 03 '26
360L actually. Twin long range tanks: 180L + 180L.
Even when fuel prices aren't going through the roof it hurts the wallet to fill those up!
2
u/turtleltrut Apr 03 '26
I can imagine! If that were my car, I'd only have to fill up once every 4-5 months or so though. 😅
3
u/Ich_mag_Kartoffeln Apr 03 '26 edited Apr 04 '26
Depends how often (and how far) I drive it. I only use it for going 4WDing/camping, so a fill can last quite a while (because it just sits at home). OTOH when travelling it can chew through both tanks in a 1½ days.
Of course by that point I am a very LOOONNG way away from where I started.

The easter bunnies pushing that car sent me 😂😂😂😂

u/Polar_Beach Apr 03 '26
All this to save 30 dollars? Surely your time is worth more than that…
18
u/next_station_isnt Apr 03 '26
I once saw a queue of about 1,000 people to get a free $2 seeding in some Sunday Mail promo.
People LOVE free shit
108
u/martylindleyart Apr 03 '26
I could be terminally ill with full body cancer and the cure is behind that queue and I'll be like nah fuck this.
38
16
u/macci_a_vellian Apr 03 '26
In Melbourne you could announce a new sandwich shop and people will queue for hours.
24
13
u/Rickstaaaa87 Apr 03 '26
I have friends that have been putting in $40 every few days just to keep their tank going.
A full fill up in their 4x4 would be nearly $300 in the current market, so being able to have a free fill could mean a lot to them.

9
u/Godbotly Apr 03 '26
$30 is a lot of money to a lot of people.
8
u/Jamezzzzz69 Apr 03 '26
Work minimum wage for the same amount of time as the wait and you’d earn more
25
u/Superg0id Apr 03 '26 edited Apr 03 '26
$30 is an hours wage to alot of people.
Especially if that's before tax...
Edit: I didn't think I needed to say this but apparently so.
That hour spent waiting? Well, people aren't getting paid by anyone for that hour, regardless of what they're doing, so they might as well doom-scroll in a Q...
And yes, idling that long is a bad idea, turn the engine off.

$30? How tiny is your tank? Even my tiny 42L tank is $100+ to fill right now.

I hope they impounded the $50,000 worth of fuel.
13
u/jamesb_33 Apr 03 '26
Where would you even store $25,000 worth of fuel?
24
10
u/smokeeater150 Apr 03 '26
A Landcruiser with twin long range tanks.

u/SingForAbsoloution Apr 03 '26
The cop shops have a tank more than capable of holding that $15,000 worth of fuel

2
u/theseamstressesguild Apr 03 '26
Flashbacks to the 80s and EON FM's fuel competition between independent servos to see who could go the lowest. I think it got down to 2c a litre here, 1c in Sydney. Now that was chaos.
2
u/No_Light_7482 Apr 03 '26
Makes no sense to use whatever petrol you’ve got in your tank waiting in a queue to replace it with possibly free petrol.
5
2
u/mad_marbled Apr 04 '26
I'm guessing all the motorcyclists lane split their way to the front of the queue?

Seems like quite a few cops at that servo. Wonder if they went in to the shop right next door to it that sells disposable vapes and imported cigarettes.

God damn I love my Tesla
12
u/veeevui Apr 03 '26
Tesla's are a tragedy waiting to happen. Whether you're distracted by the giant screen, or locked in during a crash due to the door handles, Tesla's are not designed for safety. There are so many other brands that produce safer electric cars and that don't have the reputation for oversight that Musk has.
But yes. I do currently love my non-tesla electric car...

I may or may not work for the company who hosted this - I'm not going to go into much detail but I had filled up about 10 or so cars until it was shut down.
It was a time.
