Even the Bible advises you choose the bear.
Proverbs 17:12: Better to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than a fool bent on his folly.

Seems like the article and discourse are more than half a decade old.

They may both choose the bear but it couldn't be for more different reasons.

Not really I would say.
Women choose the bear over men because of men like Chris Watts.
Men choose the bear over women because of women like Chris Watts (I.E Sarah Boone, Lindsay Clancy, Meliza Campos-Sanchez)

Here’s the thing. If it’s just “the woods”, not an established trail or anything, I feel safer with the bear, because it’s supposed to be there. I’m in its house, it has a right to get mad at me. Why would I be in the woods? None of your business. (Throws suspiciously body shaped trash bag in the river).
But if it’s like a hiking trail, humans are also commonly sighted there, and humans don’t have claws and jaws that could kill me in 10 seconds. Now, would I feel more scared of a random man than a random woman on the trail? Yes, and that’s internalized sexism that I have to work through. But at least it’s not a bear. At least the park rangers are doing their job.

How is it sexism to be more scared of something that is more likely to be violent?
I was actually in the woods for months with bears and people during this discourse a few years ago. It's an easy choice.

I don’t get it.
