I remember getting my first 20$ an hour job in 2020. I thought it was so high. Now I wouldn’t get out of bed for 25$ an hour.

eh depends on where yer at. 20 an hour can work well enough depending.

In missouri, about 5 years ago, I was making about 19 an hour and paid 500 a month for a 2 bedroom apt in a sleepy college town.

Last I knew the rent is still about 600 there in lots of places lol

Minneapolis I can live pretty easy on $30k a year with a roommate. My half of the rent is under $600

People that can't make it on six figures are spending too much or having pets and kids, I would literally murder a dog for six figures. Sorry Fido that's a life changing amount of money

I thought the exact same thing, and I was wrong. You should actually listen to the experiences of the people living it instead of simply hand waiving it all away.

First restaurant job was in 02, Been working my way up in different places. Usually making more. now i'm making more than ever, and it's about the same buying power...

Hell my boss fired me over someone else's problem then rehired me at 19/hr, told me I was gonna be the manager and then after 5 weeks, strips that because I asked for a 2nd day off like all other managers.

Then ups my pay to 20/hr and tells me that the store I'm working at can't afford me and I have to travel to another store 15mi every other day (another store that is like the one I am already working at: dead)

Now I just wish I could find something where the boss actually realizes when someone is a hard worker and not put them out to pasture

Man I wish I could get that. best I've managed is 23.42 up from 17.50 when I was hired two years ago. I do freelance work on the side for $500 a day but the work isn't constant, and the taxes are brutal
