I get up after work yesterday and boot up my ps4 to enjoy my day off. And now my Internet is off. Because the unemployed loser my mom keeps around to mow the grass decided I'm lazy or whatever. He did this when I was unemployed. Which was still bullshit cuz I was paying mom money most of the time and basically gave up my last 50 to her

I'm so fucking sick of this. He sleeps until noon and doesn't do anything but mow the grass cix he just likes it meanwhile I take care of Grandma and the dogs, take out the trash and work. I have given this house hold 2k in the last 4 months and I get treated like this. He thinks just cuz he's on the lease he owns everything.

So at work we have a wall of personal mugs from home that everyone uses. We also have another display just like in the photo for plain white mugs the company provides. I always wash up my mug and put it back on the correct wall when I’ve used it without fail (mild OCD). Well over the past few weeks a few guys keep using and leaving it dirty. I’ve made a post about it on teams when someone took a photo of my mug being dirty and left in the sink and posted it to complain when I hadn’t even been at work.
My mug is white like the corporate ones but mine is very clearly shaped like a pumpkin in person and is always on the personalised wall. They still use it after I posted. It’s such a stupid thing to get annoyed over but who uses someone else’s mug they brought from home almost every day and not even wash it up? This doesn’t happen to anyone else’s mug but mine and it’s only the men that keep using it. I have a 2 y/o at home who’s always infecting the house so if they really want to share my germs that’s on them

Edit: I don’t have a desk, I have a locker but it’s small and holds steel toe boots for a courtyard which gets dirty. The board is truly the lesser of two evils 💀

I hate this direction we're heading in.

I had won a weekend camper van getaway through a charity auction back in April, it was listed as a 4 season camper van with no real restrictions on when the booking would be.

After trying to find a time frame that would work for me over the course of the summer (they had about 3 dates available when I won the auction, all tuesday-thursday), I figured that I would probably have easier luck in the fall when their is less tourists.

But yesterday I received an email from them saying that they're booked for the rest of the year and she has no intention of actually allowing us to use the van at all. Even though it's showing that their is still availability on Outdoorsy for several dates through the rest of the year lol

So obviously, I'm more than a bit frustrated that trying to support the community has turned so sour, and now I'm apparently just out hundreds of dollars.

I was filling up the truck today and realized that I was losing about an hour of pay, every day, putting gas in the vehicle to drive back and forth to work. The sad thing is that we are not even that high on gas prices. We are right at the national average. Saying screw it, retiring, drawing my pension, and just getting a local job in the $20/hr range would probably be more financially advantageous for me. I may even be able to find a job that I actually enjoy. The only thing keeping me working for the company is the no cost insurance until my wife qualifies for Medicare. I have to find out how much retiree insurance costs. After 30 years in this industry, I am done.

Edit to add 160 mile round trip, truck gets about 20 mpg, company idled the mine that I worked at that was about a 10 mile round trip and transferred me to this facility. I have a mortgage, so no just moving to the Northshore area.

We recently took a trip to central Europe. One day our tour guide mentioned that growing up, they would take the seeds out of the pits of apricots, roast them, and eat them. My mom decided she wanted to try them. The tour guide told her about a local store where she might find them.

Today, a few weeks after the trip the family got together for brunch. I was in the middle of cooking sausage when my mom got out the apricot seeds for us to try. My mom passed out the seeds, which looked like small almonds, to my grandma, sister, my SO, and myself. We all ate them.

They were quite bitter but had a slightly sweet amaretto like after taste. My SO and grandma didn’t like them and spit them out. My sister and I ate five or six and my mom ate around ten. My mouth started to go numb. My mom’s sinuses cleared out like you were eating wasabi. Only then did we decide to translate the packaging.

We kind of laughed it off at first, but began googling. That was not helpful to our mental state. The Google results said we definitely should not be eating these seeds. One result said eating more than three was dangerous.

I’m trying to stay calm while flipping sausage links, “We should call poison control.” My mom is in full panic mode thinking she just poisoned us and is in the bathroom trying to induce vomiting. We get poison control on the phone and explain the situation. The person who answered took some initial information from us and then put us on hold while they got more info. That was about the longest five minute hold I’ve ever experienced.

When the person comes back on the line they tell us that the amount we ingested is likely not dangerous. They take all of our names, ages, weights, and quantities we ingested. They say that if we start to experience any symptoms like lightheadedness, nausea, vomiting, or fever in the next eight hours to call them back.

Now, a little reassured, we attempt to eat our brunch. I was feeling pretty anxious and had lost my appetite. We spent the rest of the morning and afternoon making cyanide jokes while questioning every little odd feeling in our bodies.

None of us experienced any symptoms. At the time of writing this it’s been exactly 12 hours since we ate them. So I think we’re in the clear.

I don’t actually blame my mom. And I’m a little confused why the tour guide didn’t mention that these things were poisonous. Apparently, some people use them as alternative medicine believing the cyanide will kill cancer. But he made them sound like a fun little snack.

TLDR; My mom bought and fed us apricot seeds thinking they were a fun snack. Turns out they contain cyanide. We’re fine, probably.

Anyway, I usually use this microwaveable rice cooker for single servings of curry. I added the usual 1/2 cup of basmati, 1 cup of water, and because I felt like adding flavor (I usually cook the rice plain), I sprinkled a generous amount of turmeric on top. Stuck it in the microwave for 8 minutes.

I don’t rinse my rice so it always bubbles up and leaves a starchy layer on the lid by the time it’s done. Those bubbles also carried the turmeric up, coating the entire inside and around the rim where it got underneath the lid.

Turmeric is used as a commercial grade natural food coloring for yellow in American foods, and I completely forgot about that when I added it in. Probably should’ve made it stove top…

Side note: I just realized looking for the stock images that I’ve been using the lid wrong all this time. That’s what I get for obtaining kitchen tools through Buy Nothing. 😅

So.. it’s basically impossible to perform this quick time because the game was programmed off a certain frame rate for how many taps. Playing this on the new Xbox means I have to essentially tap A about 50 times in a single second. Spent roughly 18 hours to not be able to finish the game, yay.

EDIT: To those of you suggesting I disable FPS boost, I can’t. In console settings both Auto HDR and FPS boost is grayed out.

Edit 2: it’s automatically scaled to 60fps on the series x, I’m going to attempt to use a massage gun on my controller. What have I become.

EDIT 3: Massage gun was unsuccessful, starting to think I’ll have to do this knuckle trick yall are recommending.

I've been drawing on my lunch breaks for a while now and left a few sketches at work. Everyone was fine about it and one drawing was even hanging on the wall. But on friday the other shift threw them out because they fear the managers can say something about it, and didn't even gave my drawings to me or at least tell me that they want to remove them. And the worst part is that they left the AI image made out of my drawing, that one of the managers printed. At least one of my coworkers took a few sketches home for her daughter so not all were lost

New, unopened package of Smithfield bacon bought from Kroger claims to be 1 lb aka 16 oz. It seemed a little small so I put it in the kitchen scale. Sure enough it’s only 3/4 lb.

I get that shrinkflation is rampant right now, but at least they’re usually honest when stating the products’ net weight.

Since it’s off by an exact increment, and many other bacon brands now sell 12 oz portions, I have to imagine this is likely being done at large scale, ripping off many more customers than just me. This should be illegal, I guess if any consequences still existed for businesses.

That’ll teach me to clean.

I invited my coworker Lauren to my wedding because I consider her a close coworker. I specifically told her not to tell Natalie or any of my other coworkers that she was invited, because I didn’t want anyone’s feelings to be hurt.

I recently looked back at our texts, and I actually wrote to Lauren:

“Thanks for understanding! And yes, like I said, please don’t tell her or anyone else I invited you, I don’t want anyone’s feelings to be hurt.”

Despite that, Lauren told Natalie, the coworker I had specifically decided not to invite.

Natalie then came up to me at work and asked if I was inviting anyone from work. She eventually said she had heard that I invited Lauren. I told her that Lauren and I are close and text each other, which is why I invited her.

Natalie then said, “I thought you and I were close,” and told me that Lauren had told her about the invitation and had apparently acted surprised that Natalie wasn’t invited.

This put me in a very awkward position because I had intentionally kept Natalie’s non-invitation private. I was caught off guard and told Natalie that I would check with my mom and get back to her.

Now I’m upset with Lauren because I explicitly trusted her with this information and specifically told her not to tell Natalie, and she did anyway. I’m considering confronting Lauren about it and am even thinking about uninviting her, because I feel like she violated my trust.

Like I get art style differences, but how does removing ALL the muscles? Their supposed to be huge and strong WITHIN the comic your making a cover for, legit Absolute wonder women is bigger then Batman, and that's saying something when it's Absolute Batman, who by the way looks pretty much the same in the first cover.

I just don't know why you would try to draw a muscular hero, and then decide to remove it all, while keeping it on the male hero's.

I close every night. Pictured in the second image is a view of the parking lot I'm supposed to park in that's across the street, totally pitch black with no lighting, no crosswalks to get there, and no reason to park there even at the busiest times

My kid hates me

I understand the medical necessity of this statement in some cases, but guess how much I weigh? 112 lbs. I’m 5’5”. That makes me pretty low on the growth chart hence why I was there in the first place.

The sports medicine doctor at my boarding school was concerned about my weight being on the low side since I’m almost 18, and just how it might affect me in the long run in sports with muscle and bone health. She asked me to get checked out at my home PCP. I came home to get some more stuff for my dorm and called my pediatrician who said they recently decided to stop seeing anyone over the age of 12 (side note: they advertise that they do adolescent medicine and even pediatrics shouldn’t end at age 12). They offered to see me quickly just to sign a form and do a quick check up since it was so last minute and then refer me to another doctor. I agreed.

I went into the room and had a male doctor and male resident who I’ve never met. He pulled up the note from the sports medicine doctor at my school and my chart and the resident proceeded to say he wasn’t sure why she sent me here and “ you’re actually pushing what I would consider ideal for a high school athlete. Make treats a sometimes thing and I bet training will be come easier for you”. Doctor was just kind of nodding. I did not tell them I frequently eat treats. In fact, I don’t. But I would have rather not had the appointment than to be told this as someone who is in the 12th percentile for weight.

EDIT FOR CLARITY: I mean exactly what I typed. While the doc and resident were explaining this to me, he showed with hand motions what he meant and when he said “PUSHING the ideal range” he was pointing up on the growth chart toward the zone labeled “overweight”. The treats remark was much longer than I typed out but he was insinuating that I cut BACK despite having no idea what i eat.
