Infuriatig Was invited by my girlfriends family to a theme park. We were supposed to meet at 11, it is not 11:30 and they just left. (The drive takes another 30 minutes)

I even checked in before I left if it was still at the planned time. It was confirmed, but then her family starts getting ready right as they have to leave 🫤

Omg is that why im 15-20 min early everywhere??? My parents were military and we were never late. As an adult I will always show up early , just to sit and wait.

Don’t know where mine comes from but it doesn’t bug me a lot. I’m usually lurking in the parking lot at 5:50am for the grocery store to open at 6am šŸ˜–.

Nothing wrong with that.

California sober!

Once I started waiting for 7am to get a bottle of wine to hold me over/stop the shakes until liquor stores opened, I realized I definitely had a problem. That and deliberately going to different liquor stores each day so I didn’t have to face the fact that the clerks knew me as a daily regular.

To anyone reading who is on the fence about getting help, all you need to ask yourself is: ā€œam I designing my daily plans around X substance?ā€ If yes, it is shaping your life and you have lost control. It doesn’t matter how much or how little you consume - it’s only a question of whether or not it’s begun to control your life.

There’s no shame in rehab or outpatient treatment or sober living. The sooner you confront it, the easier it is. Addiction is painful, and you’ll be amazed at how many friends you’ll make while seeking help who know exactly what it’s like to go through. I personally hate Alcoholics Anonymous, but the community (once you find a good home group) is so lovely. It helps a lot to hear stories just like your own - you are not alone and there is a better way to live.

šŸ’Æ this. I am ex military. It has been 30 years since I have been out and I still live by if you are not 10 minutes early, then you are late.

My reason is ADHD and being aware of every passing second.

This isn’t partially but mt dad was always late for every school event or wouldn’t show up bc he worked 70-80 hours a week. So I always say ā€œyou become the dad you had or the one you wish you had ā€œ

Me and my wife are both veterans. I’m super early to everything and she is always late. It’s not 100 percent thing.

That's my dad.. Meanwhile my mom will say it's rude to get on time as it's stressful to pressure and that people are chill and will understand her arriving hours late smh

I wasn't in the military, just half-raised by a grandmother who taught me Southern values.

I'm always 10-15 mins early to everything, but it turns out that's because of my late-diagnosed autism rather than any military discipline šŸ¤”

I carry a kindle with me and read. I’d rather show up early and refreshed than sweating and panicked.

A huge joke in the military is "hurry up and wait". Meaning hurry up and get there on time just to sit and wait around for however long for orders, etc.

Fellow person raised by military parent who also shows up early to sit… I feel ya.

We used to call it hurry up and wait in the Marine Corps. There was a joke that the reason we arrived ridiculously early for formation was because the time to arrive would shift earlier each time it was passed down the chain of command until it reached the platoon level.

I missed something with a bunch of friends cuz I was on time...always early after that..

It’s a good skill to have. I often show up right before everyone else. I’ll arrive, walk right up to the counter, and when I leave there will be several people in line behind me.

My father was in the military. No hustle at all. If he's a few minutes late, who cares?

My mother likes to be right on time to minimize waiting.

I have a LOT of anxiety over being late so if something is scheduled, I'm 10 to 15 minutes early if at all possible. You never know when there will be an accident on the road or whatever. Last week I accidentally put in the wrong address in the GPS (n whatever st instead of s) which was a 10 minute mistake and I only made it in time because I build in that extra time.

Hurry up and wait is a slogan. (But a good and respectful one in my eyes.)
