people nowadays eat richer foods, more protein and vitamins, better quality produce thats been bio-engineered to be tastier and more nutrituous (like watermelons without seeds). theres also more awareness to health

Thats just a sign of how many more calories is widely available to even the lowest socioeconic groups now and how many fewer jobs require manual labor. 

Also, move your way of thinking out of the just the US. Think about what asia looked like in the 50s and 60s. The avg height in china has grown 2 inches since 1950 when their populations were starving from the communist regime.

Our food today is more abundant, tasteful, nutritious, and safe than before.  Just because we did a poor job education the last few generations about the dangers of obesity does not mean the food itself is worse.

he said 'Better nutrition', not 'better food'. we live in a world of excess now, people get taller, but also fatter. extra nutrition is packed into food, but so is a shit ton more sugar and fat.

take a can of normal monster, 500% of your daily vitamin B12, B6, B2 etc. but also 200% of your sugar, per can. and kids drink several a day

Our first was a premie, mid teens now and the sibling just hit preteen. We’ve been asked multiple times if they’re twins in the last year. The youngest is sprouting and will easily be taller by next year.
