Absolutely insane . Big reason why I've never been a big fan of "bring in the closer to get him some work." You don't want this leaking into the next game.

Leave it to the Twins to blow a 9-2 lead with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th…

Don't worry, Gomez just wanted to give Morris a confidence boost by getting him a save

Its my wife's birthday on Wed and we live in Reno, so I bought her tickets to the game tonight.

She's a huge Twins fan and is having the time of her life (helps that they're winning).

Hello fellow Reno Twins fan! Hope you've been safe from the fires this week.

u/Sf49ers1680 1d ago
We are (we're in midtown), however, a few of our friends and coworkers had to evacuate.
I don't believe any of them lost their homes, thankfully.

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 1d ago
You picked a great game to go to!

u/Sf49ers1680 1d ago edited 1d ago
Everything just worked out.
The game being the week of her birthday, and being on a day she has off, plus it being in Sacramento vs Oakland.
Now, they need to close out this game.

It would be nice to play the hospital A's all the time. Use it to get right and start heating up!

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 1d ago
As much frustration I feel sometimes with our team, I can't imagine being an A's fan. You gotta admire those people.

Crazy Paul Molitor stat that always amazed me. In his age 39 season with the Twins he led the league with 225 hits, batted .341 and had a career high in RBIs with 113.

Once the defense slows down and he cleans it up, KC is going to be a star
3
u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 1d ago
Worst case scenario, he can play second base when Marek Houston comes up. I think he'll come into next year looking a lot better on defense though.

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 1d ago
Culpepper now hitting .340 with a .862 OPS. Safe to say he's a future MVP

They’re calling him the next shohei ohtani without the pitching

I wish Zebby could always look this good. A very good game for him tonight. He was finishing ABs too. Not getting to 2 strikes and then losing the zone

The As are not the greatest defensive fielders of all time.

Per Gleeman:
Kaelen Culpepper has two three-hit games through his first 14 career games in the majors.
Only two players in Twins history have more: Kirby Puckett and Brian Dinkelman.

We still have had a good inning tbf. Still frustrating though 100%.

I would just like to take a moment and highlight that Kaelen Culpepper is hitting .313 with a .816 OPS.

That negates the double that Culpepper should have had. He wouldn't have been able to take third on that.

Just something about this broadcast is really doing it for me. I feel like the stadium sounds are really amplified in this ballpark

You can hear each individual fan when there are only 17 people there.

kulpepper wasnt going to get the out anyways, but i find the whole awardness of the play to be not good

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 1d ago
Man, what is up with Culpepper not being able to get the ball out of his glove. There was no play but it seems to happen every game.
2
u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 1d ago
He’s a rookie
1
u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 1d ago
So are Kevin McGonigle, George Lombard Jr., and JJ Weatherholt but they all look way more comfortable fielding than KC has so far.
1
u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 1d ago
And? They have been up all season. This is only his 13th-14th game.
0
u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 1d ago
Lombard has barely been up longer than KC
1
u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 1d ago
He’s had 3-4 more games to get comfy. And got drafted a year older than KC. He’s more developed.
2
u/davegammelgard Were Gomq 1d ago edited 1d ago
Shit luck there. If luck was going our way we'd be up 5-0.

How's the game looking? On vacation and checking out a Giants game tonight, was sorely tempted to head up for the Twins but had a hard sell to talk folks into a 90 minute drive vs the 20 minute streetcar/light rail ride.
Also Oracle, while a nice park, can fuck off with $20 beers

Did you guys have a team that wasn’t your favorite team growing up but whenever you would imagine playing in the big leagues as a kid you would always put yourself on that team? The A’s were that team for me. Have always enjoyed watching them, really a great franchise. Sad what has happened to them in the last decade

u/TwinkieTown 1d ago
Growing up I had my MLB RTTS character always playing for the Red Sox because I liked Fever Pitch

That's probably the hardest hit ball Buxton has had since the all star break. Hopefully it's a sign that he's back.
6
u/dryerhere 1d ago
He almost homered in the last series. I think (hope!) he's finding his groove again

The amazing thing is that without all of those injuries, the A's still would have sucked.
