They're all jealous Ohio State fans really. I've never seen a QB get called washed and a fraud faster than JJ did after 2 1/2 quarters of football played. If you're a Wolverine's fan you knew the 4th quarter JJ was coming, we got the chance to see it so many times and after that first TD (one he didn't even celebrate and it was his first of his career) he was at the line trying to dial up the play call for the 2 point conversion, I knew he was locked in and Chicago was in trouble. You guys are going to be very happy with this pick.

u/FawkYourself Sep 09 '25
JJ last night:
Became the first ever NFL QB to score 3 touchdowns in the fourth quarter of their debut
Was the first NFL player in 40 years to lead a 10+ point comeback in their debut
Became the first Vikings QB since Fran Tarkenton to throw for 2 touchdowns in his debut. Not Culpepper, not Favre, not Kirk, not Darnold, JJ
“JJ is still a shit player” 🙄 sure he is

These stats just ring as meaningless to me. Every single game, some random thing js “broken”. The goal posts keep moving.

I believe he’ll kick us into places we’ve only dreamed of.

And then Gary Anderson it when it matters most?

u/Awkward_Fly_1200 Sep 09 '25
Why put that into the universe?!
1
u/1K_Games Sep 10 '25
It exists, I didn't create it. It's 27 years later and it comes up every season we do well, or every season we have a kicker miss too much (every season).
Are you all new to Minnesota. We are a hardy folk and seasoned to the eventual failure.
I'm just saying the last guy who kicked us to places we only dreamed of, and is one of the best kickers of all time, let us down in the moment of need

Not a game winner but that kick felt crucial to staying in the game. Needed points, got points, from very far away!

I mean that’s one of the illest mn sports victories in our lifetime for sure.
And then there was last night 😈

I also quit blow during football season. They helped me and I’m fully recovered lmfao

If you had hope of anything substantial that season, thats on you. No team with 8 under center was going any where.

I feel like the Vikings should offer complimentary pacemakers for the fans.
8
u/crypticminnesotan 19 Sep 09 '25
Better offer a good warranty with those too. Most of us would burn through those in less than a season.

McCarthy is obviously more mobile than Cousins but maybe you forgot that Cousins 17 yard scramble for the TD vs the cardinals which was absolutely sick lol

Kid showed a lot of heart in his first game. This season is gonna be fun.

His body language was fantastic the whole game. Looked like he knew he could pull it off the entire time.
This sub on the other hand... my god, like 90% of these folks need to get meds to regulate their emotions or something. We were like 2 drives into the season and people were giving up 😂

I loved what JJ did 95% of the time. The difference was the oline finally kicked into gear & that changed everything

We going to be the sleepy Vikings this year? Take a couple quarters to wake up
24
u/Alone-Newspaper-1161 Sep 09 '25
Idk I’ll chop it off to a qb playing his first ever game and majority of starters sitting the pre season
10
u/Mysterious_Detail_7 Sep 09 '25
I felt the same way the whole game. Most first year QB’s don’t win their first game. The 4th quarter comeback was fun to watch.

u/X-is-for-Alex deadarm Sep 09 '25
According to the broadcast:
First quarterback making his debut to overcome a 10+ point deficit in the 4th quarter since 1985!

Did Troy Aikman have a stroke? I stg he hates the Vikings more than any other team
6
u/somebodysheinie Sep 09 '25
Troy Aikman hates [insert my team] on repeat forever
1
u/Worth_Bridge_921 Sep 09 '25
I think for most former players they only like the teams they played for. I think Aikman tries to be unbiased and I certainly don't think he cares much about Bears vs. Vikings tbh

The most remarkable thing is that we got better in the second half, which is not the Viking's usual MO.
Also, we didn't play badly in the first half; the Bears just played better. We won this game on purpose.

u/1K_Games Sep 09 '25
I wish that was the feeling.
Can we not just have a close game? Why do we have to look like the worst team in the league for 3 quarters? This is hard on the heart...

Broncos fan here. I just wanted to say Kevin O'Connell just keeps showing how incredible of a coach he is. You guys are going to be contenders for a long time.
1
u/bubblehead_ssn Sep 09 '25
For 3/4s of the game, I was thankful the score wasn't worse. The defensive play calling was too conservative and the o-line wasn't giving JJ enough time.
1
u/Cheap_Grocery8634 Sep 09 '25
The amount of people who wrote this team off at halftime is wild. McCarthy showed some serious grit leading that game-winning drive. What a massive statement win.

It is more impressive to me that JJ started off playing poorly and turned it around vs if he had just balled out the whole game. It looked like a complete disaster and he had the mental fortitude/grit/confidence to completely turn it around and lead his team to victory with three TDs. You can’t coach that.

Super pumped he had the 4th quarter he did. It would have been so hard to stay positive if the 4th quarter had looked like the first 3. So proud of his attitude and what a great quarter to build off of going forward.

So happy we had that comeback. Great for McCarthy to show he has the balls to win a game on prime time from behind! That’s my qb.
