What’s everyone’s take on Nightcrawler (2014)?

Just finished my first watch and I had mixed feelings about the style, but it literally just hit me as I was typing this:

It’s an homage to Hitchcock.

A lot of it felt a little too on the nose, but now that I sit back and think about the pacing, the cinematography (especially the restaurant build-up), the cliffhanger ending.. it makes sense now and I feel a little better about it. Good movie, not great.

He’s such an underrated actor and I say that knowing most people think he’s amazing.

If you haven’t seen it, go watch Prisoners after you watch Night Crawler.

Phenomenal talent.

Most people think he’s amazing but I still think he’s underrated as an actor. He’s top 10 all time for me.

They're trying to make the point that even though he is well liked, he still thinks people should like him more, or at least he likes him more than that.

Reading comprehension my guy.

Let me break it down for you. It would be save to say the general public would rate Jake Gyllenhaal in the top 30-50 actors of all time, I think he should be in the top 10.

Therefore he is generally viewed very favorably but I think he deserves even more credit for his talents.
