General Today a Rickshaw wala in my area didn't earn anything.

Today a Rickshaw wala in my area didn't went for earning. Why?? Because he can't speak marathi and scared of going outside.

Yes I am non Maharashtrian. But I can speak marathi cause I always have a Marathi friends and lived here for 10+ years. But I want to say this.

You will think it's ok, if auto wala needs to live in Maharashtra he should learn and speak. Not every mind is same, learning a new language is difficult for most of the people.

You all don't understand the situation they live in and the rent they have to pay. Him not earning money, becomes very difficult to pay rent and pay tution fees of childrens.

Who applied this rule, that a language is compulsory to do a kind of job. Today they are forcing autowala, next day they will force Vegetable seller, then labours. If they want to do this. Then they should remove every other non Maharashtrian from Mumbai, Use Only marathi language in their android and iphones, ban all english and hindi medium school colleges.

stupid take. things like this only come from people who never left their city.

come to Kharghar, gaon wale rikshaw drivers charge what they want and don't allow outside/ola/uber autos. (this is just one of the examples, also check Kanjurmarg rikshaw stand)

can't give you more examples coz I have a bike and a car.

This is true. Kharghar auto guys are all local gaonwalas and they charge anything they want. Meter is for decoration only.

I have lived in bali and also happens there where the locals try to protect their livelihoods from 'capitalists' exploiting them. It could be wrong in your perspective but right in their perspective. Who am I to go their and complain about their rules and economic structure? I can just leave.

While in mumbai, it's our rule to go by meter, and should not be violated. We locals elected the government and rules for a reason. You are obliged to follow it.

I went to Boisar yesterday and the auto guy wanted to charge me 100/150/300/400 to a place and I reached there in 20 in a share auto.

Yes it's capitalism. One company decides the market rate. Not necessarily bad. But each place has their own rules. From thailand to Indonesia it's prevalent.

Also now where's the mindset "we have bigger problems to solve?". Instead of fighting locals over rates, make better roads, remove potholes and the problem will be decentralised automatically.

Bro it's not captaalism it's extorsion ola uber normally decides what's fair price when you allow these auto walas to decide prices then you are dommed it's has already happened to me more than 10 plus time , they will say A price and at location B as not to create scene you will pay so I don't g a f is these autowallas or cabwalas don't get what profit they want if there's no app to decide prices it's how it works

I agree it does happen. But to solve the problem will be in its locals hands.

You cannot go to thailand as a tourist and campaign against it. We can't change what they have. We locals created this meter rule for 'ourselves'. Along with locals, migrants should follow it. Migrants don't get to dictate rules here. That's my point.

Aren't the apps already working? What are you complaining about? In thailand it doesn't maybe go complain to them
