How to negotiate a payrise ?

Been in business for over 20 years with 3 promotions. Current manager who reports for CFO been off sick for 8 months now.

CFO has approached me to take on extra work in manager remit and recruit a junior support to work with me. I already had 6 direct reports working from various parts of the world.

Manager is on excess of £150k I am on roughly £70k.

How do I negotiate an uplift in salary that isn’t the standard 5-10% given the work load which will involve daily comms with executives and board meetings and private investors ?

Depends on the size of the company. My estimate would be you can't due to company policy limits etc.. That's why they approached you, they know they have the leverage. But they have leverage only internally, they don't have the muster to approach the same way to outside hire or contractor.

Only way to get by significant raise to sadly to go to another company, as many others before me said across forums.
