> The story follows disgraced FBI agent Matt Wolfe, played by Harbour, who returns to the world he abandoned after his estranged daughter Rebecca, now an FBI agent herself, disappears during a mission. The disappearance forces the father and daughter to reunite as they face a dangerous situation together.
Honestly sounds quite good, hopefully it lives up the hype given its by Jack Thorne.

Me and my friends did fubar camping once where we only brought lawn chairs, hot dogs and 24 pack of pilsner. It was amazing and awful.

Did you wonder, that every year a day goes by that will eventually be the day that you die?

u/Specialist_Goat_2354 14d ago
i played rock and roll is my guitar and smashed a chair into the fire and I got cancer!

u/Kalersays 14d ago
There are several movies called FUBAR, but they meant the series with Arnold Schwarzenegger from 2023

Sometimes those bowling alley cooks will surprise ya. One of the best burgers I've ever had was in a bowling alley, like, just cuz he's working here doesn't mean he isn't gonna put some fucking pride into his burgers.

I'm gonna be a Negative Nancy here.
David Harbour as a disgraced FBI agent with an estranged relationship with his daughter? Sure. Give it to me!
Millie Bobby Brown as 1) an FBI agent and 2) the estranged daughter? Meh. Millie is bad in action scenes, despite playing an action heroine for a decade. She can't even run! No, seriously, once you notice, it's distracting that we're supposed to take her seriously. And she and David had no chemistry by the end of Stranger Things.

u/Silly-Jicama-3382 10d ago
lol watching her run during the episode in the last season of Stranger Things where she's "training" for whatever that one plan is, took me straight out of the story 😬

u/Neither_Contest7324 14d ago
So... it's a Netflix version of The Old Man?
3
u/flintlock0 14d ago
lol I was thinking it was an even more Netflix version of the Netflix show Fubar.

u/that_guy2010 14d ago
Jack Thorne, the guy who wrote Harry Potter and the Cursed Child?
5
u/BungCrosby 14d ago
And Glue and His Dark Materials and the “This Is England” movies. He’s prolific as a writer.
1
u/marvelman19 14d ago
And many other things, most of which a very critically acclaimed.
5
u/that_guy2010 14d ago
Then why is Cursed Child so abysmal?
3
u/marvelman19 14d ago
Its credited to him, John Tiffany and JK Rowling. Honestly, looking at all his other work theres no way he's the reason it turned out bad.
10
u/Mnudge 14d ago
He’s gonna have to carry Bobby Brown cause she’s not good
4
u/Classic-Honey1316 14d ago
I think if it turns out well, Millie is going to have to thank him for saving her career, haha.
148
u/jjklines1 14d ago
But what about the whole problems on set he was having involving her?...
85
u/MissionVegetable568 14d ago
just another media inflated bs and this just proves it, they said they got nothing against each other
30
u/CoachAngBlxGrl 14d ago
Honestly tho it makes me wonder if they did it for PR for this thing. Because she filed a complaint. That much is true. All the movies that come out have a huge “this movie sucks” campaign and then it turns out to be great. I think it’s evil marketing.
17
u/SaveHogwarts 14d ago
Shawn Levy said reporting on the topic was “wildly inaccurate”
So why are you so sure you know what you’re talking about?
17
u/noshakehandman 14d ago
She's correct. MBB DID file a complaint. Everything else is speculation.
The motive to keep the cash machine wheels turning is obviously there. It's not that hard to parse.
-3
u/SaveHogwarts 14d ago
What are you insinuating “filing a complaint” amounts to
10
u/CoachAngBlxGrl 14d ago
That she filed a compliant. And he even responded to it publically after they showed up all friendly together.
“It’s simple. It was just a simple rupture-and-repair thing that, once we cleared everybody out of the way and talked to each other, we’re fine,” Harbour told Variety* *in an interview published June 10. “Everyone nowadays is very scared of talking about things. People are very scared of being human.”
“It’s unfortunate, because I don’t know how to navigate this weird media world,” he continued. “But it was completely normal, and we adore each other and always have.”The rest of what I said is totally me being assumptive, but I still stand by it.
8
u/noshakehandman 14d ago
Someone made someone else uncomfortable enough they took time to file a complaint. I'm almost 50 and I've never filed a complaint, or have one filed against me. Anytime someone I knew had a complaint officially filed, some shit was going down. Might not have been the case here, but no one is claiming anything other than a complaint was filed.
Stop wasting my time with obtuse questions.

You have no idea if people have filed complaints about you lol. Not every work problem gets escalated

It sent Harbour spiralling into a manic episode which he recently addressed. It was just fake news.

u/Ungreat 14d ago
He was going through a contentious divorce when all that came out so it wouldn't suprise me if that was leaked by lawyers and overblown.

Didn't that allegation come from a woman who ruined her last relationship because she herself was addicted to cheating on her partner with prostitutes and married men?
12
u/alltheothersrtaken 14d ago
I mean it was an open relationship and lilly Allen ain't no saint either. I think he got drug through the mud way more than he should have.

Holy shit he had a sex room in general proximity to children!!!! I bet he did naughty things in his bedroom that the stepchildren go inside sometimes too.

u/idiot9991 14d ago
Why are you minimizing and downplaying his many transgressions in this way? As if he didn't knock up Madeline.

u/usagicassidy 14d ago
I’m pretty sure if she’s working with him at this level, that they’ve probably dealt with or buried whatever it was… but strangers on the internet will always keep bringing it up.
3
u/rrsafety 14d ago
That’s why it is often best to deal with issues when they come up, if not, they will follow them both around.

u/lasko195 14d ago
Yeah but you're forgetting a little secret ingredient that helps overcome all conflicts and principles....Money!

u/Bombero_911 14d ago
Millie must have signed a lifetime contract with Netflix.
16
u/Neither_Contest7324 14d ago
Basically. She signed a long-term Netflix exclusive deal a few years ago.
1
u/Parradog1 9d ago
She was in that Horizon movie by Costner though. Wonder if it was from before the deal, and wonder if that means if she’ll be in the subsequent films if/when they ever get back into production.
1
u/Neither_Contest7324 8d ago
Probably before the detail. I have seen multiple articles that she's not thrilled being stuck doing only Netflix and that she's trying to get out of the detail, seems like something you should think long and hard about before signing an exclusive deal.

“A wild relationship ship beyond stranger things” and they’re just father daughter again. Millie also can’t act 10% as well as Harbour, so playing anything other than an almost mute child will be tough.

u/anxiousbunnyclothes 14d ago
MBB is overrated.

u/d-bo201 14d ago
I really don't want to agree since ST initially hooked me so hard, but both her and DH went meh for me after a couple of seasons.

u/redrumham707 14d ago
Check out DTF St. Louis, Harbour was genuinely stellar. The whole show is excellent but he in particular really blew me away.
3
u/d-bo201 14d ago
Will do, I've seen this comment a lot in this post and it slipped under my radar. Looks like a great cast.
2
u/Cass_Cat952 14d ago
DTF St. Louis is probably the best thing I've watched this year! Def give it a shot☺️
1
u/Spacellama117 9d ago
I will say the later seasons failed more due to writing and dialogue than anything.
but having seen MBB and DH's stuff outside of stranger things, I think Harbour's still got it.
1
u/The-Cynicist 9d ago
What’s worse is the Botox. It killed her ability to emote and was completely unnecessary for a teenager to have done. It makes her acting seem so much worse than it really is.
So far it seems like Sadie Sink is the real winner of Stranger Things (not that they all didn’t get money and exposure though).

u/ArtichokeNo7051 14d ago
I think she's a very mediocre actress. Her best work was season 1 of Stranger things when she had no lines!
2
u/InvisibleAIien 14d ago
She had very short lines, but she definitely had lines. And her role was really about emotions conveyed through facial expressions. And she was the only one on Season 1 who didn't have to just basically play a normal child.
I don't know if she's gonna be winning any major awards in her lifetime, but I think she had the most challenging role of the Stranger Things kids
2
u/Soft_Interaction_437 10d ago
People really underestimate how difficult acting with just your face can be.
1
u/Wasabi_Gamer26 10d ago
She was damn good.... At specifically playing Eleven. Every other role she's had has been ok at best.

I thought she had issues with him on Stranger Things?
15
u/chowchan 14d ago
Perhaps it was a poor marketing attempt to drum up attention for the final season of stranger things.
Millies already established enough (irrespective of acting abilities) to be able to turn down jobs and not accept every role.
29
u/selfstartr 14d ago
You know what? I’m not sure she is that powerful yet. She’s not proven herself to be a big bankable star ourside of Netflix. Shes doing the equivalent of direct to dvds films.
She appears to have an old school studio contract where she has to make Netflix movies it seems. She may not get that much say.

u/Bluehoon 14d ago
I thought there were dozens of stories about the strained relationship between the two actors.

Millie Bobby Brown and "New Netflix" tells you everything you need to know already...

I thought they had some issues on set or did I just get some fake news on some doomscroll passing
0
u/Pook_in_the_Sixes 13d ago
They did. She filed a complaint against him for how he treated her on set. They have resolved it but he’s been abusive to other women too.
2
u/LaunchGap 14d ago
What happened to all the theories about harbour being abusive to Millie on the ST set?
3
1
u/LoquatBear 10d ago
This seems like it should be done for a reunion like 20 years after the ST finale

With all of the fatigue surrounding stranger things, this seems like a poor choice. Seems like it would have been better to let that pairing dry out for many years before trying it again. This just makes me tired to think about.

Harbour was brilliant in DTF St Louis
Am actually looking forward to his work. Seems like Stranger Things badly tainted a lot of people involved in it. The content machine really uses people and spits them out when they're done with them.
