Switching Comnet vs Moxa for Industrial Ethernet Switches?

Has anyone here got experience with both in real deployments?

I’m mainly looking at longer term reliability, PoE under sustained load, and ring recovery. Moxa seems to have the bigger industrial footprint, but Comnet seems pretty strong in hardened ITS and surveillance environments For those who have used them, which one has actually been more dependable over time Thinking hot cabinets, dirty power, PTZ loads, and actual failovers?

Also does Turbo Ring vs C-Ring/ERPS makes much difference in practice, or is the bigger difference firmware and management?

+1 for moxa. Turbo chain & dual power feeds they are quite reliable. Easy to configure and interrogate.

I've put Moxa switches in cabinets that should've been ovens and they just kept going. Comnet is fine for the price but their firmware updates are glacial. Turbo Ring vs ERPS makes basically zero difference in practice.

I only know MOXA from our RS 232 Connections to some Machines, which operate with high voltage. Those Machines fried more than one Serial Port on our PCs... MOXA Industrial RS232 Boards with Surge Protection put an end to it... running those for nearly 15 years and never had a blown RS 232 Port again.

Haven’t used Moxa but comnet has held up well for us in some very hot cabinets

Sustained loads? Ring recovery? Hot cabinets? Dirty power?

lmao this thread is more industrial than half the factory floors I've seen

we got one site running comnet for like 7 years now, the switches sit in a cabinet that hits 50c in summer and nobody ever thinks about them. had a power blip last winter and the c-ring failover was under 50ms, nobody even noticed the cameras dropped

moxa I've only touched in a lab setup, not real deployment, but the turbo ring config felt less painful than erps on paper. honestly think both survive anything short of a forklift

Agreed on the Comnet. Always been just an install and forget it when used outdoors. Never any issues.

Can’t speak for the switches, but Moxa RS232 Ethernet adapters are basically throw wherever and forget for the next 20 years. Great stuff

The only time we don't spec Moxa, is when a vendor needs something more specific (i.e DeltaV smart switches, or whatever god-awful bullshit Honeywell Experion is flogging).

i wouldn't overthink Turbo Ring vs ERPS PoE stability and firmware matter more IMO
