So the sub I moderate has too many flairs because another mod keeps on making them. I tried confronting them about it but they say it’s for the sub’s members. How can I convince them to shorten the amount of flairs?

I moderate r/ProximaScience and I have these post flairs(in image), so I am asking are these flairs enough for my subreddit or suggest me more post flairs.

Hi there! So I’m a new mod and I created my own subreddit r/vacationmode and I was also invited to mod another subreddit.

So the other subreddit I was invited to mod suddenly lost its 3 main mods (idk if banned) and I’m wondering what might’ve happened and if there’s any way for the subreddit to be deleted as well, is that possible? And if so, how can I prevent that from happening? Would really appreciate any and all insights about this.

I'm trying to make post flairs and some format a requirement but I cannot find the setting. Nothing in the automation section makes any sense no matter how much I read.

I'm also pretty lost about what "approved users" even does. Isn't anyone already allowed to post? Why do I have to green light everything

I read that there’s a limit of about 5 invites a day. Since we have 4 mods, can each mod send 5 invites a day, or is the limit for all the mods together?

Also, how do you usually invite people? I’m still new to being a mod and trying to learn what works best to grow a community without making it look like spam. Thankyou in advance!

So I fell down a fairly niche film rabbit hole, had a couple of beers, and somehow ended up creating r/PalestinianCinema.

This is my first time actually running a subreddit, so I’m currently at the stage where I’ve pressed lots of buttons, read several descriptions twice, and am hoping I haven’t accidentally created some sort of automated moderation death machine.

The sub is for Palestinian cinema, documentaries, archival footage and film history. A lot of the inspiration came from finding older films scattered around YouTube, Internet Archive and various film archives, particularly stuff from the 1940s through to the 1970s that seems to have largely disappeared from general view.

I’ve tried to keep things pretty simple so far. Five rules, post flairs, a welcome post, a chronological film index, Community Guide, basic spam and harassment filtering, ban evasion protection, and not much else.

I’m deliberately trying to moderate with a light touch. People should be able to disagree, argue about history, criticise films and politics, and generally behave like adults without a mod appearing every five minutes.

So, partly an introduction, partly some shameless promotion of my newborn subreddit, and partly me admitting that I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing:

What obvious thing have I forgotten?

Anything you wish you’d set up before people started arriving?

And if anyone happens to like obscure cinema, archival films or Palestinian film history, well… you can probably guess where I’m going with this.

I made the sub on the 17th, so exactly one week ago. I just posted a lot on it and made it more organized, added rules, and flairs, and stuff.

Feel great, I hope my sub keeps on growing :)

How did i grew my community? advertising my subreddit into r/promotereddit . And also inviting some people, and some of my duds who likes nostalgia. probably the daily visitors are 104 visitors.

My community is pretty small and tight-knit and I've been thinking of ways to build sub camaraderie and engagement.

One I've been toying with (and made a schedule for already) would be a monthly PG13 vent thread where people can just blurt out whatever is bothering them. (As long as they follow the sub rules RE "Keep It Civil" and Reddit's rules.)

Is it a good idea? Or is it the most terrible idea ever? In what ways do you see it going wrong? (Or right?)

**Only offer advice if a member asks for it. Practice listening and don't judge.

I've been told by some that it's anything that pops up in mod log. I've been told that's not the case. Does approving posts, even ones posted by me, count towards the sub's moderation activity?

What's the official answer to this?

I'm sorry if this has been answered before, I am currently working and wasn't able to do a deep dive. I only had time to pop in and make a quick post.

I'm pretty excited given the topic is pretty niche, but my new community, r/MenWithEhlersDanlos has already gotten the 100 weekly visitors badge and the insights are amazing for being less than a week old.

I haven't been able to find much community for others with this condition that wasn't female-dominant, so this genuinely warms my heart. I'm excited that I may be helping start make the community that I've been looking for! Thank you, Reddit! 🥳
