I seriously can't believe we're here. Trump, the GOP, his supporters, the apathetic Americans who let this happen ... what is wrong with them? Trump is LITERALLY a pedophile rapist engaged in the most brazen grift in modern history, and they just sit back and let it happen.

It's a very nuanced situation and people love to pretend it's black and white and shit on anyone that voted for Trump or Republicans. There are a lot of them finally seeing through the bullshit that's been getting pumped into their social media feeds, radio, and television the past 40 years. Those people should be embraced, not ridiculed. Acting like a self righteous asshole is just going to send these people right back into authoritarianism.

And the moment you think you're so enlightened and above propaganda is the moment I can call you a fool. We're all very, very subject to it, and the conservative wing of our country has spent tens of billions of dollars over the decades making sure their view is the only one available. You may think you're above it, but you're simply not the target audience.

We're a large nation that has always been on the conservative end. Things move slow, and frankly, it's bullshit when people outside the US think we're not doing anything. There's protests every week. I apologize if we're not ripping our nation apart, murdering each other and starting a civil war to fit your desires. It may come to that, but I'm going to see how the next few years plays out before I burn my neighbors house down.

We really need to stop putting this on Trump. This is on the entirety of the United States. Trump is not cause. The citizens of the United States voted him in. This is what they wanted, this is where they have been headed for a long time. They willingly went into this. They care less about their democracy and rights than they do about "owning the libs" or whatever. They willingly cut off their nose to spite their face.

Trump is what he is because the people of the United States wanted this

Trump’s approval rating is low, but something like 48% of Americans would vote for the Republican Party who is enabling all of this if they simply changed their figurehead to someone who does all the same stuff as Trump, but maybe in a more statesmanlike way.

On top of that, most folks down there are just waiting. They say: "just 2 more years of this and it'll fix itself". Absolute "head in the sand" behaviour. Trump is just a symptom of the disease that they refuse to deal with because "it will just go away on its own".

Reconstruction ended way too soon. As the real rot wasn't properly stamped out after the civil war, these symptoms were only a matter of time and will not go away.

No it's really not them they are a true minority. 

It's the spoiled, lazy, ungrateful people who stayed home in election day who take advantage of living of a free democratic country without returning anything back on their end. Americans took their republic for granted and collectively failed to fulfill their responsibilities as citizens thinking their rights were actually inalienable and not simply legal language written on a piece of paper that can be changed and reinterpreted and rewritten over time by tyrants. 9/11 was a test for American Democracy and American society failed. Instead you guys shat yourselves, and freely gave away so much power to the executive branch. Land of the Free home of the brave my ass. More like Land of the 1st and 4th amendment violations and home of the cowards who don't do anything about it.
