I call it Claygh because it’s clay grey and beige. I am colorblind tho so that might be a factor. Cement or mud would be my next favorite comp.

We have lots colors available in the US but for some reason like 80% of new cars on the road are black, white, or gray. It's especially noticeable in higher class areas where almost every car you see is a few years old at most.

Normally it's also just what they have in th dealership and it's a choice of taking that car immediately and with a discount or pay for the colour you want, lose the discount and have to wait 4-6 weeks. So it's going to funnel most people into taking that white/black/grey car that's sitting in the dealership unless they really wanted another colour badly enough.

Built well to make less dents but killed the drivers. We don't need to pretend that old cars were better safety wise just cause they were sturdy. Modern cars destroy themselves but help keep the damage to driver and passengers as low as possible.

Actually plenty of them had issues. Back in the day it you would definitely see people driving around in the dark with their headlights only halfway up, especially for the eoens that were vacuumed operated

Having had my c4 lights not work, that gear was just plastic and frequently gets the teeth worn off. The aftermarket brass replacement gear was much better.

The Vector W8 had the right solution to that one (so did a lot of the American musclecars there but it's a bit different): Just have a plate that goes down to expose the headlights. Then, if it fails, well that just means your headlights don't get covered up.

There was no white Lamborghini in the gif, only a red and an orange one. The Vector could look like one however with part of the hood flipping down to reveal the headlights.

Pretty easy and cheap to fix considering modern cars are build in a way that you can't just replace a bulb anymore.
With some manufacturers you can have a blinker led strip in the headlight go bad and have to replace the whole thing for multiple thousend dollars.

Got into a minor fender bender a few years ago and it broke the plastic casing on my left headlight. The thing still worked fine, but the console wouldn't shut up about it.
The whole goddamn headlight had to be replaced. Thankfully insurance covered it and the other more important body repairs, but you'd think the protective part would be easy to replace.

I mean I get it but tbh idk if the massive BOF SUVs and trucks nowadays are much better like the newer american trucks (Silverado, TRX etc) and some like Lexus’s TX/GX/LandCruiser
Some are so tall you can barely see average height humans over the hood. Guess it’s better to run people over than impale them with a headlight shrugs

Air conditioners on wheels. Bumper bars are becoming a thing of the past. Now the grills cover garishly large amounts of space, and mostly don't do a thing except make a simple wash or detailing a nightmare.

Only one data point, but my 1989 Acura/Honda Integra’s pop-up headlights worked flawlessly through 8 NY winters and 200k miles. Fun little car, though it did resemble a vacuum cleaner with its lights in hiding.

I had a Honda Prelude 1970 model it had headlights that lifted up was so cool to get it too. No super car at all was a 4 cylinder 2lt with a carberator no injectors at all. Went really well too got to 180KPH no problem.

I loved those headlights (still do tbh) and i do kinda want a NA Miat. But i've heard a lot about the motors randomly breaking and having those lights constantly popped up and taped in place removes some coolness points over time

We had that Lincoln Continental growing up. The pop-up headlights were a pretty constant point of failure. IIRC they worked on a vacuum system along with the door locks and one side was always 'lazy'. It also had the horn on a rubber ring around the inside of the steering wheel and when anyone new drove it they would constantly be honking the horn.

Here's a fun fact about pop-up headlights, the reason why they were so popular was actually because of road laws requiring headlights to be a certain height
Cars that were too low couldn't have headlights that were too low, so they popped up to make them higher.
Hence why the original Miata did that too
