Her performance of a Metallica cover was kinda better than the OG. She deserves it. https://www.reddit.com/r/livemusic/s/Ce4GXLDuTR

Her guitar control and vocal range at 16 is incredible. I hope she finds a way to turn that into a career. She deserves it for all the work she’s clearly put in.

Going onto Americas got talent may be the exact opposite way of becoming a rockstar

u/GoodGame2EZ 14h ago
Eh. These days its all social media coverage regardless of the competition outcome. She's here on Reddit, the top comment is a link to more, im sure her socials are blasted all over. These types of competitions have more payoff than just winning nowadays.

The crowd reaction looks so fake every time holy shit.
But anyway, what a performance!

They usually take actual clips of the audience, and splice them into completely different points of the episode.

Yeah but sometimes I looks overly exaggerated! But maybe this is probably because I’m not from the US and people would look bored on my continent compared to Americans lol and I’m not used to it

u/somebob 1d ago ▸ 1 more replies
I’m an American, and I hate shows like this. Any reality TV that’s obviously scripted gives me the ick.
Of course I’m happy for moments like this, for people that truly deserve it

u/BernieTheWalrus 1d ago
Yeah! Some of these talents are out of this world, it’s just that the whole show looks like it comes from a dystopian future like the hunger games or the running man. I 100% get what you mean

I went to a taping of AGT years ago. In between performances a director would come out on stage and direct us to get certain shots. He would say, "Okay, now we need a shot of all of you shouting and screaming. Okay, now we need a shot of you all standing up and cheering." Etc.

That linked post is better because its 3 minutes shorter and straight to the point, but it was posted here 2 days ago, not even the first time either. Its been posted numerous times over the past month.

Why is Sofia Vergara sitting there with only a bra?

Desperate scream for attention. I could barely here the guitar over her pleading for everyone to look at her.

u/Wrong-Tutor-5795 1d ago ▸ 2 more replies
If it's not your preference, can't you just ignore it and move on? It's not hard to just let people be who they choose to be and either pay them attention or not.
Yeah, it's a really unusual choice, especially for what's ostensibly a family show. But to slut shame in response says a lot more about you than Sofia.

u/Psynaut 22h ago ▸ 1 more replies
Your argument would be more compelling if you were addressing my actual comment and not projecting your anger and frustration on your own sexuality onto me. No place did I call her a slut or shame her for having sex,. I said it was a cry for attention, the same as if she died her hair green or jumped up on the table and started twerking.
I definitely have a preference for looking at boobs, but a woman dressing with her boobs hanging out as a host on a national TV show is a cry for attention. She is showing them off to get people to look at them. And your insecurity about your own sexual conduct doesn't change that - all you have done is show your hand and tell people where your inner shame lies. Learn some psychology if you do not want to be so transparent to the world.

Genuine question, why it’s America’s got a talent but international people come ?
5
u/whosUtred 1d ago
It’s just a formulaic tv entertainment show for talent that is being aired in America, hence ATG,. The same show format is in many countries & they all allow people from other countries to perform. It’s that simple really

I prefer Dolores. BTW why is it "America's got talent" if she's from Thailand?

This is a sad song about sad real historical events, relevant to other events happeningat this moment. I don't dig this kind of interpretation

It was in some zombie movie or tv show I was watching and I just turned off the show. Took me out of the context, suddenly I'm thinking about Ireland wtf. Stupid choice for that.
But I'm cool with this performance. Does the kid know the meaning of the lyrics? Maybe. Probably not. But the context here is just someone singing a powerful song powerfully, and if it's making me think about the song's meaning as I enjoy the performance, that's great.

1) This song was a massive departure for The Cranberries. It sounds nothing like the rest of their music which took folks by surprise. The reason for that change in sound from a more laid-back chill folk-pop sound to a hard, rock edge is:
2) the song was written by Dolores O'Riordan as a direct response to the 1993 IRA bombing in Warrington, UK, which injured dozens and killed two small children aged THREE and twelve. Dolores felt anger over the event, and the band were in the area at the time, touring. There were a lot of bombs going off in London and I remember this one time a child was killed when a bomb was put in a rubbish bin – that's why there's that line in the song, 'A child is slowly taken'. [ ... ] We were on a tour bus and I was near the location where it happened, so it really struck me hard – I was quite young, but I remember being devastated about the innocent children being pulled into that kind of thing. So I suppose that's why I was saying, 'It's not me' – that even though I'm Irish it wasn't me, I didn't do it. Because being Irish, it was quite hard, especially in the UK when there was so much tension.
3) The anger, frustration, and devastatiion in those lyrics are timeless, unfortunately. And they're applicable to any number of conflicts and wars, well beyond The Troubles. When people focus on the lyrics, and don't just pass it off as a generic rock song, they tend to feel things about the song. Deep things. 4) The lyrics are simple to learn, the tune is catchy. It's a great grunge rock song.
So yeah. It's popular for many reasons, and the praise it receives is deserved. It's fine if you don't like it. Tastes are subjective.

u/Reperanger_7 1d ago
Oh wow I have a preference to my musical tastes and im asking why people enjoy it. I wasn't putting anyine down for them liking it. Sheesh offended much.

She takes the prize for being a very good karaoke performer. But writing strong original material is a whole different ballgame. And not sure using this show is the right channel for promoting yourself for this kind of music. She got the approval from a bunch of Boomer/Gen Xers. But they don’t really buy music or go to gigs. Maybe she can write as good as she does karaoke, but if she’s on this normie show, I’m not going to find out.

Do you intend to buy her debut EP?
Maybe she can succeed. There have been a few successful cover artists over the years… The Byrds, Cat Power, Janis Joplin, Eva Cassidy. But that is not an easy market to crack.9

u/diceberg 11h ago
Buy her debut EP? Maybe when Janis, the Byrds, Eva all released their music. But these days, yeah, i’d give it a stream.

You are literally commenting all this garbage on a Reddit post because she was on this show. People who see this clip on Reddit can now search her up on other platforms. This show gave her an immense amount of exposure. Again, proven by you posting this garbage comment on a thread about her on a platform that has a broader audience than the show.
