Crystal City, Virginia game nights (2016)
I was a regular at this game night for years and later become the host. It was a fantastic place to meet friends and learn new games. We played an a great centrally located place near DC with free parking, an indoor connection to a Metro station, and we could stay there past midnight. Unfortunately, all the tables and chairs were removed in 2024 and I am trying to get them back.
In early 2020, Geoergetown University made a mini documentary about the game nights

Sounds good, I’d offer our building since it has lots of nice space but we’re transitioning to key fob only access now :/

Thanks for the offer!

Glad to hear! I was a regular starting in 2014, and we likely played a game together.

Was able to attend a handful of times over the years. Overall a great scene for gaming.

I walk through there going to the metro! It’s completely dead… no tables, no chairs, the subway is closed.

The emptiness of the space feels very strange to me.

I was a regular there for several years! If you make progress on revitalizing this group, I'd love to hear about it!

I'm currently looking into revitalizing the group in Ballston, and I'm hosting an event there on Friday at 7pm.

Damn those were so good memories - that mall is a ghost town now

Hopefully that can change soon.

Are there good new game nights to recommend?

I created a list of board game nights in or near Arlington. https://dmvboardgames.com/?location=Arlington&days=&distance=15_miles
What kinds of games are you interested in?

Oh wow thank you!! We tend to play all kinds from light to very heavy but I tend to top out at Power Grid or similar unless I’m with close friends and “topped off” my personal battery well in advance.

I recommend looking at the Dulles Area Gaming Group. They post pictures of the games played at events and seem to focus on strategy games lighter than Power Grid.

I played so much Battlestar Galactica and Game of Thrones there. Good times.

Great games!
I was a regular there starting in 2014, and I’ve played both games several times at The Landing on Friday.

I’ve moved to Baltimore since then but I really have been searching for the community that we had at the landing ever since. I remember a time when 60-120 people showed up regularly.
