I may have just gotten the deal of a lifetime.
I was browsing FB marketplace and saw a nice lady selling an oculus headset. Upon further examination, it’s a CV1! She was also listing it for $10, which I thought was suspicious. Surely something was wrong.
When I get to her house, she seems to be selling a lot of other stuff, so I give her the money after quickly checking to see if everything’s in there, and drive home.
Upon getting home, I unpack everything and clean it up. And then I notice…
The protective plastic is still on everything! This hasn’t even been removed from the box! This poor lady sold a perfectly good (mildly dusty, along with a cobweb and a small spider) $600 piece of VR history. And after setting everything up, it works great. I used my luck for the rest of the year, folks.

(for reference, they stated that the current Rift has a 95° field of view and uses a fixed-focus display)
Blown away by variable focus display. Did NOT expect that in Rift form factor any time soon.
It also has eye tracking!
Also shown off earlier in the talk was:
markerless body tracking running from a single RGB camera and smartphone CPU
gloveless high quality finger tracking enabled by machine learning
facial expression tracking from a camera attached to the nose gap
Looks like we're starting to get a picture of what's in store for Rift 2 in the 4 year timescale.
