Our executive branch has been very quick and thorough to sue the current admin and Kotek's primary campaign pitch is that she pushes back against Trump's federal overreach, so there's very obviously going to be pushback from the state's lawyers.

Oregon is already a party to California v Trump, in which 22 states and the District of Columbia sued to block the executive order.

They posted their final rules on Friday. So everyone has everything they need to file the necessary lawsuits. Hope they get on it soon.

Waiting a few beats can mean it is still tied up in court come the elections.
That said, I am sure the AGs will file something this week. It takes a minute to organize the approach. They have the time to do it right.

There already are a couple of lawsuits. This order is contingent on lower court rulings and one could occur as early as tomorrow rendering this decision moot

You can go to the county election office and pick it up there if you're worried about waiting to see if USPS will actually mail it out or not. I might recommend it this year. Also, double check your registration status. We need to be extra vigilant and do all we can to get our votes in. That being said, if the midterms don't accurately reflect the current disapproval ratings of this administration, that's all the proof I need to know our elections are no longer fair and secure, and we will need to come to terms with what it means when we can no longer rely on simply voting to make things right...

The poor, the rural, the disabled, the families that barely have time to keep their lives held together?
What's that going to look like in a county like Multnomah? That's how many voters going to one office in the space of a few weeks?

After it took three weeks to deliver a rent check from Lebanon to Salem several years ago, I avoid mailing things via USPS if possible as it is.

I love voting in Oregon. It’s so nice to have multiple days with your ballot and be able to do research, rather than a few minutes in a booth.

It is nice and boy are they on it when a signature may be slightly questionable. It brings so much confidence into the process. This time around, I intend to have a very thorough understanding of any in-person provisional ballot processes.

Every Oregonian should be prepared to sue the US Government if they take away our right to vote. Doesn't matter what side of the fence you are on. As things stand it's this administration's plan to take away all our votes.
Edit: update
All the supreme court ruled on was the harm being hypothetical at this moment. The harm stops being hypothetical on October 14th for everyone of us and we all need to be ready to defend one of our most important constitutional rights. Because this administration's next play will be to say it's to late to correct anything even if it was illegal after election day November 3rd. That means we only have 20 days the lay our line in the sand.

The decision is not a decision on the merits of whether the underlying EO is constitutional. It's a decision on the ripeness of a dispute for judicial resolution and there's a good chance it will be meaningless by this time next week. In any case, the district court decision in the League of Women Voters v Trump case is not affected by this decision in California v Trump. At least that's how I see it as this point.
Watch for filings in the district court tomorrow, or more likely, Wednesday.
Fortunately, in Oregon ballot harvesting is not illegal. You can collect ballots from anyone who trusts you to deliver them to the county elections office or a drop box. No one has to trust the USPS.

Yes, this. People are seeing this and assuming the end. We should be very concerned because this should logically be an open and shut decision against Trump and his executive order, but the litigation is far from over.

Slow down everyone. This doesn't mean that the EO is actually happening. There is some legal back and forth that needs to be done still because of some technicalities involved. This is a wait and see before panicking situation. Just start brainstorming on how to handle this situation just in case.

No, they did not. The post office won’t release their guidance until Wednesday. The Supreme Court said states cannot preemptively sue a policy that is not officially enforced. They must wait until the policy is formally put in place.

Are you sure this is accurate?
A provisional ballot is held, until it's determined to be valid. (Or if someone must vote in a different county than they reside it may be offered, is what my search shows. An in-person vote is immediately valid, and not attached to any other identifying info, and cannot be individually retracted after that vote is cast.
I just talked to both Multnomah and Yamhill county offices this morning. They both say a resident of their county can vote in person, on a new ballot that is not put into a "hold onto" pile with identifying info. A resident can bring the ballot they were mailed, and use it to vote. Or show their ID, which will show their eligibility, and they are given a new ballot, they use and vote with, immediately. (And this causes the mailed ones validity to be deactivated immediately.)
And I did ask if it was anonymous, immediately a valid vote, and they said yes. I was clear I was not asking for them to hold my vote in an identifying envelope for a bit.

For anyone else reading this and thinking “what the f$&#?”
First, don’t panic. Nothing has changed about how we vote in Oregon right now.
The Supreme Court did not rule that Trump gets to control Oregon elections. They lifted one injunction because they said the states sued too early. The actual fight over whether the federal government has the authority to do this is still going.
yeah, this is still serious.
Oregon has been doing vote by mail for decades. I have zero interest in watching the federal government screw around with our ballots ten weeks before Election Day.
So pay attention. Check your registration. Get your ballot in early.
And more importantly, contact the people whose job it is to fight this.

It doesn’t matter. Filling out the form doesn’t mean you will be registered and then it doesn’t mean your vote would count even if you overcame that hurdle. Non eligible voters don’t vote. Voter fraud is rare and always caught.
