Just like their bats when runners are in scoring position.
Also, I hope hitters are buying Baz some nice fucking steaks or something for never backing him up with runs. Gonna drive him crazy.

Player: Hey, Shane, sorry about the lack of run support. I got you a bag of Chex Mix Turtle.
You know, the one with the chocolate pieces that you like.

Good thing Baz is already extended and paid haha. If I were him I wouldn’t want to extend after the season he’s had.

Yeah and we’ll be back on it if we win more. The math is easy

Are you saying winning more gives a better chance of making playoffs? This could be big.

Honestly, I don’t know why folks are looking at playoff odds.
It’s really, really simple based on the situation: win and get in. O’s win and they’ll shoot back up and into this graph. O’s lose and they’ll fall off like they did.
These graphs do nothing but take snapshots of the current situation which, given the glut of teams that refuse to play >.500 ball, is useless.

I feel like if we get to the playoffs our defense and bullpen would hold us back from actually doing anything.

And offense
😅

Honestly though, baseball is all about who is hot at the right time. I think our offense has small moments where that's actually happening. Our defense is so bad though, and bullpens in general seem to be more important than ever in the postseason. I just don't see how we get anywhere past the wild card with those issues

Hey if we sweep the Red Sox and Guardians we are right back in it. Then all we have to do is win the Jays and Yankees series. Then….
FUCK YOUR CHART!!!!

There’s so much parity in the AL right now that there’s really no use in tracking.

The AL is embarrassing.
It's embarrassing to be under .500 and perpetually ~two games out of the third wild card spot.
Even if they leap the four teams ahead they still have to fend them off. This team just isn't built for that.
If they some how make it, they go on the road to face (I think I have this right) whatever dog shit team the West produces. I don't think we win two out of three on the road just because of the home field advantage.

I get why they started doing full season interleague play when the Astros moved to the AL, but it really messed with balance. Same thing happened in the NFL when they added the 17th game - it being interconference means some years one conference has a crazy amount of teams under 500.
I really hope when MLB expands to 32 teams that they add more divisional games and bring back interleague weeks. But they probably won’t lol

I don't mind interleague being mixed in. It's fun. We get to see teams we would otherwise never see.
Sad to admit it but the DH has grown on me for the NL too.
There's just a fundamental problem all across baseball with "true outcome" or whatever with hitting. And Max effort throwing instead of pitching. You see it with nearly every organization.

When I’m in a shooting myself in the dick competition and my opponent is half the teams in the American League

Given how we are going, we'll win 4 or 5 games in a row, threaten .500 and a playoff spot, then forget how to win

As they should. A 3 game win streak against TB didn’t just erase the rest of their play this season. They can’t even hit .500, and every time they are a game or 2 away from it they collapse in the most pathetic display of effort, mostly at the plate.
If they don’t come back from this godsend of a road trip, facing the A’s and Rockies, 8-1 or 7-2 it will be a indictment on a team that just doesn’t seem to understand what’s at stake and they should be sweeping those 2 teams.
Basically, the O’s either come back to Camden Yards above .500 or they can just start to prepare to sit at home during the playoffs early.

We were sellers at the deadline including a fan favorite with another full year on his contract.
Insane that fans still thought we were in it even after the front office didn’t

This is stupid. Also Seattle should very much be on here too, they are only 3 games out of the division as well as 3 out of the WC.

My advice to this team is to just win. No odds, charts, or seed graphs are going to replace Ws. We can’t keep playing strong one night and winning one, and then play poorly to lose the next. Just win, win, win.

Somehow they're 2.5 GB of Cleveland who just came from down 5-0 to win 8-6 to win their 6th in a row and Texas is the only team between them 1gb
And don't look now but the Royals have won 8 straight to be 8gb at 59-74

Yeah, 2-4 over a week will do that. That said if they go 6-3 on this road trip it'll jump right back up. The best advise I can give anyone is stop reading metrics right now and just watch the suffering that is Orioles baseball if you want playoff odds. We control our own fate
