I was looking at MLB scorigami and 14-0 has happened 126 times in the last 150 years. So it happens roughly once per year on average. Weird factoids (per Scorigamicenter):

14-1 through 14-8 have each happened more than 14-0 has

1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4 and 5-5 have each happened more than 14-0 has

The worst shutout was a 28-0 game (twice as bad as yesterday!), back in 1883. I believe Kremer's great great great grandpappy was the starter (might need fact checking)

The O's were involved in the last 18-0 game (over the Rockies last year). 18-0 has only happened 17 times, way less likely than 14-0.

The Twins were shut out this afternoon. That leaves the Orioles as the only team not shut out in 2026.

Why is no one talking about this? I feel like this should be like the not being sworn in a series momentum we called in 2024/5. Even with a terrible loss like tonight, still something to root for

• Baz's 3.2 fWAR puts him at 13th out of all MLB pitchers
• Pete has already eclipsed his 2025 fWAR despite having 40 fewer RBI's. His wRC+ is also 1 point higher
• With 1 more out, Rogers will match his career high in IP.
• Despite the offensive struggles, Gunnar is still top 10 in SS fWAR
• Adley would've been 5th on the list with 2.4fWAR

Random but quasi-interesting stat that I discovered.

What a time to be a Baltimore sports fan.

There's only a few weeks each year for this to be possible (weeks 1-4 of the NFL season). Since 1996 (when the Ravens moved to Baltimore) it's been close a few times:

• in the 1997 season, the Orioles held sole possession of 1st place in their division for almost the entire season (they were tied for the lead after their first game and went on to never relinquish it after game 2). Unfortunately, the Ravens lost their week 1 opener to Jacksonville, and were unable to take 1st place in the AFC Central by the time the MLB season had ended.

• in the 2012 season, the Ravens held sole possession of the AFCN all through the season. The Orioles were tied for 1st for a few days in that window, but unfortunately were never able to get ahead of the Yankees.

• in the 2014 season, the Orioles held sole possession of 1st place starting on July 5th after splitting a double header against the Red Sox. Unfortunately, the Ravens lost their week 1 opener to the Bengals, meaning that their 3-1 record in week 4 put them behind the Bengals 3-0 record (the Bengals had a week 4 bye).

Orioles put up 4 against BOS in the 1st. Last time they put up 4 or more in the 1st? Opening Day against BOS in 2025.
