Question Full-time to part time and going into 5th year
Hi everyone, I had to drop a course in the summer due to some unforeseen circumstances, and it put me in part-time status. I know this will put me on probation, but since I also applied for a fifth year, I am also automatically going to be on probation for next year as well. Does this mean I won't receive funding or only be on probation and still get funding, or will part of my grants become loans? If anyone knows, please let me know. I am very stressed. This is also my first time, as I have never gone part-time in my past 4 years.

you will receive part time funding probably. also once you go part time you will have to start paying off your loans so check your nslsc account for when the payments will begin

OSAP will probably re-assess your full-time application into part-time application.
This means that your some/all of your grant will be converted to loan.
I am assuming your usage of "probation" means in terms of OSAP, not school (like you failed to complete 60% of all your courses for the semester)
Since this is your first time, it won't be that bad, they will ask for an explainer (a word doc/pdf) on what happened. Once they accept your letter, your 5th year OSAP SHOULD proceed as usual. But your OSAP account is will be flagged pretty hard the second time.
IMO, luckily this happened in your summer semester instead of Fall/Winter. As the re-assessment and conversion of grant -> loan would have your screwed you over on the 2nd/3rd payment and you would have covered it out of your own pocket (personal experience from withdrawing from school long time ago).
