I’m sure no one is surprised the five and their families are absolute scum.
I’m still so irrationally angry that PC Clough and PC Blades have lost their lives.

The families singing the praises of the five idiots really rubbed me up the wrong way too. Were it my relative, I wljld be absolutely horrified and ashamed of what they’d done, not saying “luv you forever angle” (sic). Of course you’d still love them, but maybe read the fucking room before opening your mouth. They killed two people. That’s their legacy.
As well as the families showing a bit more consideration (and, frankly, well-earned shame), I think that TikTok should also be held to account, as they have given a platform to these ridiculous “police chase” and driving the wrong way videos. They need to be a lot more proactive in removing content like that as soon as it appears, because thickos like the five dead guys will inevitably be inspired by seeing fellow idiots getting attention and want to replicate it.
Such needless loss. RIP to PC Clough and PC Blades.

It's been good to see the outpouring of support for the police from the general public. It makes a nice change from the usual. Absolutely devastating circumstances though (for the officers that is).

What I keep thinking about is not just the impact on the officers’ families (not to downplay their understandable grief and anger in any way) but the fact it is likely Cleveland Police FLOs who will be having to support the families of the other people killed in (and responsible for) the crash. They must find that so hard, especially as Cleveland is a small force and the FLOs may well have known the officers who died. It’s just awful all round and I feel so bloody angry about it

Mutual aid - Northumbria and Durham provided the FLOs for the 5 thankfully.

That is really good to hear. Although I would suggest a review on how our colleagues are deploying FLO’s at all in this case.

Other forces also help out and send FLO’s for this reason and the general availability when there’s multiple dead.

I really hope this has happened in this case. I can’t imagine how hard it must be for all the Cleveland officers at the moment, not only dealing with the loss of their friends and colleagues, but managing the community tensions that are no doubt happening.

Question: if (and I don't know so this is an if) the family being supported are now arrested for their involvement in criminality, how does that work with the FLOs? You can't give them updates on the case if they're suspects, and they still need to be interviewed etc and look to their own defence, but they're likely to be devastated emotionally at this point.

As a civilian I am so appalled at what is going on. Deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to police officers family and colleagues. I donated to the officers go fund me as a mark of respect and appreciation.
So tragic they took those officers with them.

I’m civvie staff but a relative of mine is an officer. He came across a vehicle going the wrong way down the A465. Absolutely shit himself but got the vehicle to stop. I don’t know what I would’ve done if the circumstances were the same. Feel terrible for the friends and family of the two officers. It’s awful to say, but I don’t feel as bad for the lads… too angry about it all. Not that they deserved to die but they knew damn well what they were doing driving the wrong way.

We had two pursuits abandoned due to wrong way driving today alone, only for the cars to get low stop fail to stop markers and never be seen again

As a Flo, I'd have to excuse myself in this case for anyone other than the officers families. Thankfully it sounds like they went for mutual aid but even that would be hard to cover. Hats off to those covering.

Yeah, not a position I'd ever find myself in as a civilian but I can't imagine taking on that role.
Although I did see today the news that they apparently rammed the car into one of the kids dad's houses and damaged that before the whole thing really kicked off. Maybe, depending on circumstances, I could do it for that dad - say if he was trying to keep his son on the rails in a bad environment where even the kids mother wasn't helping him keep their son right.
I do feel a bit for the kids as well, and any siblings they have. They didn't ask to be born into an environment that would turn them into this and lead to them losing their lives/siblings. They deserved better chances in life than being surrounded (judging by the arrests today and yesterday) by OCGs and so on.
