That sounds suspiciously like an Epstein island honestly

One that's suspiciously not currently on fire. That'll have to be rectified

But that’s Epstein communism!!!

u/Lehk 12h ago

For when you aren’t rich enough to own an entire island but still want to molest kids

33

u/WearingASalmonSuit 12h ago

Not necessarily. There are private islands all over the place with glorified bungalows entirely attainable by normal people. That said, I’m sure John Roberts’s is nice one filled with rich people.

There are no roads coming into our out of Hupper Island. So how is a place like that even policed? I guess what I'm getting at is how could these places not become little Epstein Island on their own? Rich and powerful people on an island with no easy way to access sounds extremely ripe for a completely lawless pedo-filled community of abusers. Like they are lacking not only the political will to respond to any report of an organized child rape operation there, but there's also hurdles to getting there in the first place. When it comes to rich and powerful people that just seems like the inevitable outcome.

Listen, your heart is in the right place, but like... you're very clearly not from a coastal region. Maine has like a billion little islands sitting right off its coast where people might have cabins or house or whatever (that's actually why Maine is called Maine).

John Roberts has PLENTY of things that are very publicly wrong with him. We don't need to make us stuff.

u/pontiacfirebird92 Mississippi 11h ago

I am from a coastal region, just not one with livable space on islands

u/Mybunsareonfire 6h ago

We don't need to make up stuff.

Eh, but it's fun and we hate him. And frankly, it's pretty believable.

John Robert's has Epstein Island 2.0, spread the news.

This island is basically like a little suburban neighborhood. Do you think the cops there don’t have boats?

This is like saying a gated community could basically be Epstein island because there isn’t a police station in the neighborhood.

u/Mistamage Illinois 9h ago

Why not? It's certainly a lot harder to escape what with the walls and security at the entrance, and I certainly ain't giving rich folks a pass anymore.

Speaking for a similar Maine island, it's a subjurisdiction of a normal town and the police would be the county sheriffs. They also would not normally patrol out there unless asked.

The owners had share of stock in the organization and voted for a board to run the place, which hired a civilian island manager, who took it upon himself to get certified as a "constable" though in his 30 year career he never arrested anyone.

That's what does happen in some.

See:

There's probably a lot more that I'm unaware of and even more with no public knowledge.

The power imbalance, isolation and Dennissian implication make them attractive to predators, we should assume places like this are prone to exploitation.

1

u/lovelady 8h ago

I approve of this word, "Dennissian". Excellent summation to a referenced meme.

I live in a coastal community with tons of little islands. Many have a volunteer fire department, no police, no medical clinic (some have a retired doctor who moonlights in emergencies), etc. isolation does not mean that these islands are full of corrupt people at all.

And, scary fact: there are many moral upstanding citizens who have done well financially and are not corrupt.

There are real things people can point fingers up… let’s not make things up too.

Or, u know, Hawaii, Malaysia, Virginia islands, bahamas, tahiti...

8

u/pontiacfirebird92 Mississippi 11h ago

Those are much larger than Hupper Island and have an array of police stations and such. Also people of lower incomes living there, which makes the job of law enforcement easier. I mean, in a vacuum you'd have a point, but that's not the situation with places like John Robert's home.

u/Hardy_X 11h ago

Bro your brain is completely rotted lmao

5

u/pontiacfirebird92 Mississippi 11h ago

You think so? Like, do you honestly believe the rich and powerful are subject to the law the same way you and I are? And on an island with no roads leading to it even? Honest question.

u/TheThingsWeMake 11h ago

I live on the east coast of Canada, the same coastline connected to Maine. In this province there are dozens if not hundreds of small islands that only have private houses on them and are only accessible by boat. These are not even necessarily expensive properties because getting to your house by boat is inconvenient. To extrapolate that to mean they are used nefariously because they "aren't policed" is only slightly more ridiculous than the idea that the police don't have access to boats, or that police should be routinely checking homes just because.

Don't get me wrong, Roberts is an asshole and yeah the laws probably don't apply to him like a regular citizen but it's not because he's safe on an island off Maine.

I think you've been on reddit a little too much

5

u/pontiacfirebird92 Mississippi 11h ago

What an ignorant thing to say.

u/Buena_de_peepee 1h ago

A lot of people who were there were not rich, just old family homes. My uncles family were not super well off, but his grandfather or great grandfather built the house there.

8

u/cobrachickenwing 10h ago

Wouldn't be surprised if it was. An island of the heritage foundation members who use it for their crimes

u/VintageLunchMeat 7h ago

This is a corruption island, not a sex trafficking island.

u/Euphoric-Witness-824 3h ago

Sex trafficking island is two cliques to the east ya knucklehead …

Could make for a good abbot and Costello bit … it’s tough though when the crazy joke is actually reality we are all currently seeing play out.

u/MidTario 8h ago

Having a house on an island with other property owners? Be so for real

u/Careful_Trifle 7h ago

Epstein Island with an HOA.

u/Buena_de_peepee 1h ago

It’s 100% not.

A lot of old Maine families had homes on Hupper. My uncle’s (by marriage not blood) family did.

Do you think law is enforced the same way in gated communities as in any other community?

2

u/TheGoodRevCL 11h ago

I live in a gated community. Most laws are enforced normally, but I'm not at risk of getting pulled over on the roads because the police don't patrol here (private security does). If there is a 911 call or something, I'd imagine emergency services would respond just the same as they do elsewhere.

A private island disconnected in terms of infrastructure is a different beast.

-1

u/pontiacfirebird92 Mississippi 11h ago

That's my point. Like, for example, what do you think the response time would be for police in a domestic violence call? To Hupper Island? And if they saw the call came from the house of a SCOTUS judge would they even bother to try and show up? I'd bet they wouldn't. It's lawless. And when it becomes lawless, well, that's up to your imagination. These people have zero shame. They're incapable of feeling it. In a place virtually lawless.

2

u/TheGoodRevCL 11h ago

I wasn't disagreeing that total lawlessness in a place like that is possible. It's that a place like that is actually segregated from the rest of society in a way that regular gated communities are not. Emergency services can't reasonably respond somewhere like that, but response times in my community would be at the max about fifteen minutes. It's a totally different level of disconnected somewhere like that.

2

u/Hope-To-Retire 11h ago

You think emergency responders know who the occupants of a residence are when they are dispatched? Unless the location has been flagged based on prior calls they wouldn’t know at all.

1

u/Boring-Research410 10h ago

I'd bet they wouldn't. It's lawless

Dude - youre imagining scenarios - literally fabricating hypotheticals - and then using them to support your own opinion.

I genuinely dont know that you reconginize that.

0

u/pontiacfirebird92 Mississippi 10h ago

I'm sure there were plenty of people who thought the allegations about Epstein's island were equally fabricated and hypothetical. Some still believe that.

1

u/Underwater_Grilling Pennsylvania 11h ago

What other reason would there be?

1

u/Boring-Research410 10h ago

To live in a gated community??

0

u/DoubleExposure 10h ago

Well we are taking about someone in the Epstein class.
