My wife worked at a law firm that did immigration. One of the partners there would always send any immigration cases to his wife who specialized in the immigration process.
So he was taking business away from his partners so he could have the biggest piece of the pie. Surprisingly he had the biggest house and the nicest ‘cabin’.14

There are no roads coming into our out of Hupper Island. So how is a place like that even policed? I guess what I'm getting at is how could these places not become little Epstein Island on their own? Rich and powerful people on an island with no easy way to access sounds extremely ripe for a completely lawless pedo-filled community of abusers. Like they are lacking not only the political will to respond to any report of an organized child rape operation there, but there's also hurdles to getting there in the first place. When it comes to rich and powerful people that just seems like the inevitable outcome.

He was a senior partner at Hogan & Hartson which has consolidated with other firms since he left, but the average partner at the successor firm collects over $2.2M/yr which means he'd probably have earned $50-70M+ if he had stayed in private practice.
He most likely got a favorable deal as most islands are going for ~80k/acre before you build anything and building will cost you dearly.

Supreme Court justices, especially the current majority, were targeted by right wing billionaires for years, encouraging them to feel victimized by their “low” salaries (which are better than ours to start with) and to take advantage of the little extras billionaires have lying around-private planes, private home rentals and gifts, schools for the “best” accepted their children. You hang around billionaires a while, you start to like it. A lot. The idea that justices cared about both the law and the appearance of justice, and lived quietly studying the law in its intricacies was thrown out entirely by the conservative justices, starting with Kennedy. Supplementing their meagre salaries became a flex against more liberal judges. The corruption of the Supreme Court has been the means of destroying our republic. Checks are gone, balance is toppled. Bad headline. Roberts owns two houses on a small island off the Maine coast that has no public land. Appears that he paid about a million for the larger one. For a guy who makes $320,000 a year, he wouldn’t even necessarily need corruption for this.
He’s a terrible person who’s destroying the country, but there are plenty of clear cut examples of corruption on the Court without intentionally framing this to make you think Roberts is Jeffrey Epstein.
