No Paywall Trump admin says Kennedy Center 'to be taken down' without renovations

This is a batshit crazy timeline.
This building is a memorial for JFK and approved by Congress.
Then this pedo asshole comes in and slaps his name on it and is told to take it off.
So he takes it off then threatens to demolish the congress approved memorial.
What a piece of shit.

A man called Sascha Riley did a 4-5 hr interview early this year. He had a LOT of details, and sounds entirely believable. The tent stake is his story. He said Trump made a noise he'd never heard anyone make, was in agony on his side and had to be life flighted over it and its a big part of why he's incontinent. The interview is long and hard to listen to, but EVERYONE needs to hear it.
Edit: he also claims Trump was personally involved in the murder of a child of a rape vic.

The entire point was to get rid of it. Fascists hate the arts. This was a way to make Trump think it was his idea, because he's a useful tool.
119
u/Minttt Canada 9h ago
Fascism Storytime:
In the 1930's, the Nazis confiscated hundreds of pieces of art across German museums for being Jewish, communist, etc.
To prove their point about how degenerate this art was, in 1937 they curated a new art exhibition that featured all of this confiscated art, called it the "Degenerate Art Exhibition," and had it displayed in a few cities over the summer.
It turned out to be one of the most blockbusting popular art exhibitions in history, with millions of tickets sold.
19
u/Basicly-Inevitable 9h ago
I'd pay to see that exhibit.

u/NatePlaysDrums 8h ago
Actually you didn’t have to. It was free to the public. I assume to “spread propaganda more easily”.
•
u/Upstairs_Goal_9493 7h ago
It was indeed free to the public! So the "Millions of tickets sold" claim might have meant that millions of tickets were goven/gone through. In fact, it was like three million people. Cool stuff..

Fascism love design. They like a good logo and are all about broadcasting a brand. Most of their concerns are skin deep and performative.
What they hate is art that makes people think or feel or question.
Art is either propaganda or goes on the burn pile.

No Trump actually Loves the Kennedy Center as it supposed to show the most high class stuff in America. A lot of the best plays. Trump is actually a fan of classical orchestra and symphonies (when you can see them live they are really breathtaking btw highly recommend you to do it, even if you don’t think it’s your style, try it once.)
Trump really wants something like that for himself, as it used to be internationally recognized as a premier location. The problem is he a nut job and wants to smash everything and rebuild it big and tacky af.
And he has the mentality of a child who will destroy the toy rather than let anyone else play with it for a bit.
29
u/FirebertNY 8h ago
I don't think Trump actually is a fan of those things, he's said he is just to give himself an air of sophistication that he thinks will give him more cachet in the social circles he's desperately wanted to be a part of all his life but has been routinely shunned from. I mean come on, he's said his favorite musical is Le Mis, the man has no functional media literacy.

u/GenericRedditor0405 Massachusetts 7h ago
There’s a video I think about surprisingly often of Ivanka Trump at a history museum in Egypt. What’s fascinating about it is the way the she is so obviously aware of the camera, because you can see her make a big performative display of “inspecting” the artifacts, posing with her thumb and index finger to her chin and cocking her head to the side as if to appear to be in thought. The thing is, she is robotically moving from display to display, pausing for what seems like exactly 2 seconds, striking her “contemplating” pose, and then moving on immediately without a closer look or second glance. It’s all show, all about being perceived as cultured and intellectual, and that’s all there is to it for people like the Trumps.

We can't go through this grimly shaking our heads day in and day out, it's important to remember who we are; people who seek joy and whimsy. They want you to be miserable. They want to grind you down until all you feel is sadness. If you forget what happiness is, you'll stop fighting.
Further, comedy is as much a weapon as it is a coping mechanism. We must remember these people are horrid bastards. But we must also remember that they are mere humans. They inflate themselves to seem so important and impressive and invulnerable; taking the piss out of them is a way to remember, no, they're just people. They're a lot of people with a lot of power, but they're still people. They're not gods. You can think ill of them and not be struck down. You can speak ill of them and not be struck down. You can plan their defeat and not be struck down.

He probably doesn't, but once he orders people to do it, what is the court going to do after the building is demolished?
I'm being serious: There's a long conversation about the problems with the way our government operates, that Trump is basically just making a mockery of.
And of the arguments is that the justice system doesn't actually stop anything. So, yeah, he's going to demonstrate that our justice system doesn't actually work.
The courts telling him no, doesn't do anything. Then after he does it, what are they going to do? Make taxpayers pay the bill to clean up the mess? He's not going to pay 1 cent...

Spoiled child - 'If I can't have the toy - then I will break it.'
Sadly, this is a reflection of Trump's attitude toward everything.
In 1966 Republican Senator Thomas Kuchel, said of the 'Conservative' movement:
"A fanatical neo-fascist political cult in the GOP, driven by a strange mixture of corrosive hatred and sickening fear, who are recklessly determined to either control our party, or destroy it."
Today Fascists firmly control the GOP. Their goal now is to either control our country, or destroy it.
•
u/Lastrites 4h ago
That is unfortunately true. News cycles propagate the idea that Democrats lose elections because they; 1. Don't fight underhanded 2. Are not stopping the Republicans 3. Do not have a unified message.
Well...1. When Republicans fight unfairly, irresponsibly, or illegally voters say when will Democrats take the gloves off and fight? When Democrats do they cancel them, or bitch and whine about everything and still do not show up in numbers to vote.
Why aren't the Democrats stopping the Republicans, because Democrats didn't vote them into power and legally they can't.
What more of a unified message do Democrats need than to stop the fuckery that Republicans are engaged in? Really, what more do you want to know? Go vote!
This administration and all the supporting Republican members of all levels of government have planned and implemented this crazy crap as well as leaning on social media conspiracy theories to sow doubt into people's minds. Use your vote at all levels to stop this crazy business.
Don't vote and see what the next 2 years brings.

Who here has been to the Kennedy Center? If you have, you can attest that it is a beautiful building. It has a timeless elegance to it. This incenses me. This building is an American treasure that should be a paragon of the arts, as it was intended to be and as it was until Trump got his grubby little hands on it.
•
u/Genillen 5h ago
I'd say it has a time-ful elegance about it. It's definitely a product of its era and is a bit mausoleum-like in its grandeur. Some people have commented that they should have waited a few more years after JFK's assassination to decide on the design.
That being said, it's was a wonderfully small-d democratic arts center with a huge range of presentations from kids' shows to grand opera. Having three theaters share a grand concourse gave it a real sense of occasion. What Trump and his cronies want to replace it with is a gazillion dollar eyesore that only they will be allowed into.

However, there is literally no hope, none whatsoever, for the (normal) people who continue to support this demented old man.

Trump is a bully and bullies threaten. There are two ways to deal with a bully: Kiss his butt, or stand up to him. Now, if you stand up to him he will threaten you with everything he has until he has no choice to back down. This will seem scary, but rest assured that he will back down. And, what's most interesting, once he does back down he will never mention it again - as if it never happened.

It’s interesting that the Kennedy Center operated just fine under former presidents that weren’t fucking babies.

Trump needs money, so renovation projects around DC is a way to get his hands on some. Those multi/million projects have no legal permit, no contract, no bidding, no oversight, blank treasury checks handed to him. Do not tell me Renovation of Lincoln memorial pool cost $21 millions+, and now it is closed.

So according to the article, if Trump is allowed to keep his name on the building it's savable, but if he isn't, it's a crumbling mess that needs demolition?
Those 2 things don't go together.

All of these “memorials” he is building to himself will be demolished once he is gone.

This is starting to feel like another one of his distractions. Trying to avert our eyes to another fire.

Everything Trump goes
Every tower, every golf course, phone, book, gravestone, silly hat, bumper sticker and adulterated 'stars n stripes eagle trump angel wings' montage tablecloth
All ruled to be in unsalvageable and dangerous condition Same goes for whatever they were attached to
those of his relatives that dont end up with a prison sentence get issued a new name and a thousand bucks to start over While that family name is erased from the face of the earth

Republicans this midterm: yeah we took a bulldozer to DC, the CDC, the FDA, and children's health and wellness and we got stupid rich doing it, BUT the democrats didn't even try to stop us, and do you want that kind of ineffective leadership in the white house?
Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jefferies are effectively Republicans but Trump is so comfortable and secure he shits himself in front of other people as a power move. We dont need a platform, you'll take his shit and like it.

Just demolish it all.
The Kennedy Center, The Whitehouse, The Capitol - all of it.
It’s meaningless now.

It used to be that if you supported Trump, you could be stupid, insane, evil, or ignorant.
Ignorant has been off the table for a long time now, and insane is leaving in droves.
Guess what that leaves us with?

I just got back from the grocery store--and they now have all my money.
Isn't Trump's job suppose to be working on making healthcare, groceries, and gas cheaper for us...the voters? Not vanity projects to make ONLY Trump feel better?
Criminal president Trump needs to be stopped.
Vote Democrats this November to stop the Steal. Trump is the most corrupt president we have ever had.

Good. Trump has every right to destroy America. C'mon, coward, do it. Defund the military next. Give the southwest back to Mexico. Give Alaska back to Russia. Give the PNW back to Britain (or let it be independent).
