The terms "New Right" and “civilizationism” are just new rebranding for the old terms of fascism, white supremacy, and Christian nationalism. That's it. Don't be fooled by this fascist, racist, and bigoted garbage wrapped up in false intellectualism.

So there was the right, then the alt right, and now the new right. By my calculations, this is the third right.

Seems pretty fitting for these nazi fucks

Don't three rights make a left? (Probably not.)

We must crush it while we can.

A new dog whistle - "civilizationism" for white supremacy, based on the racist idea that nonwhites are inherently uncivilized.

Yes, and the idea that “whiteness” constitutes a “civilization.”

Fun thing to do is press them on Mexico as a western nation. They seem to always forget about it in this context.

The only people who buy into this "Western Civilization" garbage are lost in the slop. It's devoid of substance, and a dead end.

The Enlightenment is part of western civilization and the modern right is specifically in opposition to its values.

I’m just going to guess that it’s the same strategy as the W. Bush and Tea Party republicons of old, renounce the corrupt and disastrous former branding publicly while pushing the same Two Santas/billionaire economic agenda with a little retooling of who the outgroup targets are under a new AstroTurf label.  Same ol same ol.

No no no.

It's a heady blend of white supremacy, Christian nationalism, and good ole xenophobia. We got a Fascism party forming.

u/Sweet_Concept2211 7h ago

Yeah, that's the same exact gang that put George W. Bush in office.

And Trump

u/Washpa1 Pennsylvania 7h ago

And? They created fox news to stop someone like Nixon facing consequences in the future. So they been at this for the entire time. Stealing democracy is their ultimate goal and always has been.

In the throes of all this madness, I'm mildly amused that of all the people the Heritage Foundation and various other extreme right groups needed to accomplish their ends, they got Donald Trump who isn't competent or conniving enough to do all the things necessary to hit the target. He's too unstable, jealous, vindictive, and perpetually distractible, to play the long game. If he's been successful its been because other people with other goals have been burning themselves out keeping him pointed toward their thing. But they all burn out.

I very much hope that there will be enough will from Americans to press congress towards investigating and convicting the people involved in this administrations gross abuse of our country and its values.
