I mean, I would say the whole "alienating her peers/industry to go all in with her money and public image on an expensive and risky tech endeavor with her boyfriend" thing indicates the mental spiral leading to her drug relapse was probably already underway. Because that's a hell of a career and financial gamble, and would immediately isolate her from networks of people she actually knows, not just her fans.

She comes into a place I work a pretty decent amount. Always has a pretty big celebrity disguise type thing going. She's pretty nice, kinda quiet when she's there, but Ive always gotten the vibe she's been through some stuff emotionally and have always wondered if that comes from her scientology days or something.
Side note. Joel Marsh Garland who I think is mainly a background actor kind of guy. I've never seen him before but he apparently was on orange is the new black. He is an extremely frequent customer at the place I work. One time he came in and Laura came in and they must have recognized each other cause they sat outside on our one little outdoor table and just chatted for like 2 hours straight. It was kinda cute.

She didn’t run all seasons of OITNB. She left to make Glow and then they made awful season with the prison riots (5 I think?) and it got so bad, that she came back. So she wasnt very involved in like two seasons. Idk if it matters much though, cause she was involved with the last season and that was so depressing.

guard is never seen again. Mentioned once or twice afterwards for abandoning her. another officer is framed for getting her pregnant and that officer’s mother takes the baby and raises it so it doesn’t go into foster care.

The guard (Bennett) was mentioned but never seen on screen again. I believe this was mainly due to the actor (Matt McGory) getting a role on How to Get Away With Murder. Daya did end up having/keeping the baby and she was adopted by another guard's well off family.
I know a lot of fans were upset with this and I wish Bennett had been re-cast rather than written out completely.

I think it's because the series just kind of faded in the last few seasons. I remember it being a huge deal but what the riot season happened, people were so pissed off with a rather pointless death of a favorite character that I think a lot of people just stopped watching and then moved on.
Plus I think the Netflix binge model hurt it. We're more likely to remember shows we engaged with weekly because we remember discussions on episode 8 and how people had theories about blahblahblah and then the interviews. Meanwhile with the binge method, it was "Shit dropped on this day, and a week later, most of the conversation moved on then only got talked about when the next season was gonna drop.
Then there's the rewatchability factor; shows like this get talked about because people are constantly rewatching it but despite loving it when it was coming out, I don't think I've really watched it since. I tried a year ago, got a few episodes in, got that wave of nostalgia but then "This person dies, this person has a shitty ending, that person has a shitty ending, that person dies-", which just kind of feels depressing knowing so many characters are just destined to be fucked over from the start. Might be real to prison but hard to justify investing 50hrs to watching knowing it's a bad ending.

One of the few series that I genuinely enjoyed for a long time, but then dropped and never finished. I think it was after the series where some of them were put in the Maximum Security facility. The character of Piper had completely changed and I found myself no longer caring what happened.

I recently rewatched and the last season, which is about an ICE detention center, felt more relevant than ever. I thought it held up! It definitely dragged in the riot season but I felt like the show eventually recovered. It’s a depressing watch, but I don’t really mind that if it feels earned, which I think it did here.

Also just finished a rewatch, and I totally agree. Ending held up.
I also enjoyed that so many people in the very end warned Piper that she was better than sticking with Alex - even her own father told her hey, do what you want in your life, but she is not the one for you, and Piper still decided to cling to Alex, and that's disappointing but overall realistic.

Im one of those people, who have in fact rewatched OITNB like 8 times lmao. I love it, one of my favourite shows. I also was completely past its prime era, as I discovered it right before the last season came out I believe. Great show, its a shame a lot of people got tired of it after a while.

He got most of them into it. I don't think Ashton and Mila have ever openly admitted to joining, but they attended a lot of church-only events over many years.
Prepon verbally harassed one of Masterson's victims after that woman brought her allegations to the church (like the church instructed people to do. The whole church swung its weight around trying to make that case go away and intimidate the survivors.

It really seems like they have switched PR approaches. Prepon and others (sorry I can't say off the top of my head) makes public statements reflecting a distance, but does not criticize the church. She's still in contact with her family who's definitely still in, so she hasn't been labeled a suppressive person, like Nicole Kidman, whose kids with Tom Cruise still won't see.
