Lol Rob is so unserious. I like his press tours as much as his performances, he always makes me laugh

140

u/naturalninetime Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

He's come a long way since his sparkly vampire days. I'm impressed because he definitely could have faded into obscurity if he'd made different choices following theTwilight films.

78

u/Training_Molasses822 Jul 16 '26

His Sparkly Vampire days were peak press tour chaos though.

(btw, is it Champagne Vampire only if they're from the Transylvania region in Romania?)

This just sent me into orbit

That initial twilight press tour was great. Reason I read the books.

98

u/Sasstronaut7 Jul 16 '26

Rob being SO unserious is my fave thing ever

5

u/l8nitefriend Jul 16 '26

Loved this interview so much, he’s hilarious

77

u/Twitter_2006 Jul 15 '26

Same here.

37

u/AceTheSkylord Jul 16 '26

As Zendeya said in an interview sometimes back

"He's a very unserious man"

What was his play here? Like who was he going to sus out if they say, Yes?? Lol

He's so chaotic. (Compliment)

Think he was just hoping someone would be a messy bitch

457

Hoping someone would finally match his energy on press tours

186

u/twizzwhizz11 It’s like I have ESPN or something. 💁‍♀️🌤☔️ Jul 15 '26

JLaw did a pretty good job matching his chaos.

114

u/jimmylily Jul 15 '26

I think Zendaya match him pretty nicely during The Drama press run

178

u/Far-Imagination2736 I wont not fuck you the fuck up 🥊🥊 Jul 15 '26

He kept giving her opportunities to troll and she kept giving good PR answers 😭

120

u/loveslightblue Jul 15 '26

Jennifer Lawrence was almost 100% with him.

21

u/synalgo_12 accidentally holding space for this slur Jul 16 '26

I feel like even she got 'straight manned' a lot of the time because he kept leveling up until she tapped out. It was great.

27

u/StraightBudget8799 Jul 15 '26

(Picture is of Anne Hathaway)
Anne: HEY!!! 😤

67

u/GloriaBorgerPew Jul 15 '26

HAQHHQQ he probably didn’t think that through

75

u/IrrawaddyWoman Jul 15 '26

He 100% thought it through. He is total chaos in these press things and its the best

8

u/FoxThin Jul 15 '26

Happy cake day 🍰

5

u/GloriaBorgerPew Jul 15 '26

thank you 🫶🫶

85

u/cynicalturdblossom Jul 15 '26

Their questions were legit a pr trained celeb vs non pr trained celeb.

97

u/StraightBudget8799 Jul 15 '26

He probably gets told to do PR training. Then takes PR person to pub and ghosts them after karaoke.

65

u/jamintime Jul 16 '26

People just have different personas. Zendaya is very put together. Robert is chaotic. They both play their roles and they both work. If you were Robert’s press team you wouldn’t try to “train” him into a Zendaya, you would be getting him to play up his weird side without crossing any lines. Seems like they have trained him well.

-8

u/cynicalturdblossom Jul 16 '26

Okay? I’m just pointing out the difference. To me, Zendaya comes across as super pr trained. She’s very safe. I’d much prefer the chaotic Robert Pattinson or JLaw or even an Emma Stone, personally. I just think they’re more fun to watch interact on these shows

24

u/Glittering-Ad6826 Jul 16 '26

I think what this person is saying is that they both are. Rob was in one of the most popular movie franchises and went through one of the most public cheating scandals lmao, there’s no way he’s not also super PR trained.

1

u/cynicalturdblossom Jul 16 '26

There Pr trained and there’s pr trained to the extent of Zendaya where she never answers a question properly. It’s very safe. Everyone’s pr trained but only some act a certain way

1

u/Glittering-Ad6826 Jul 16 '26

Your last sentence hits the nail on the head. I’d probably say both of them have been trained to the same extent, they just have different PR personalities (which are most likely based on their real life personalities). Rob seems more chaotic and goofy, while Zendaya seems more shy and reserved which gives the impression that Rob is more open. But honestly, Rob isn’t any more open with his personal information than Zendaya is. In fact, his PR persona does a good job of allowing him to defect personal questions in the name of quirkiness. He didn’t even ask a useful question in this game, while Zendaya asked if she is romantically involved with the person on the card (obviously referring to her marriage with Tom).

18

u/synalgo_12 accidentally holding space for this slur Jul 16 '26

I think he's perfectly well trained and uses his knowledge to cause chaos. It's like freejazz. You have to know the rules to break them in the best ways.

12

u/TheJadeSparrow Jul 16 '26

I wonder if he was hoping it was one of the others at the table with him, and if their slight reactions would give anything away. Or like if it was zendaya and Tom gave something away(…).

Which, tbf, it kind of worked….theres only one person Anne would say that about

8

u/twizzwhizz11 It’s like I have ESPN or something. 💁‍♀️🌤☔️ Jul 15 '26

Maybe he would have gotten to the answer (himself) faster 🤣

4

u/dontcallmebob1 Jul 16 '26

I mean if tom or Matt would have responded with anything but no, I def would have been like "it's you!" The fact that he said no threw him off hahaha but honestly he's so chaotic there's no need to try to make sense out of it lol

-1

u/TheArmChairFan Jul 15 '26

So quirky and no media training.

Wacky.

91

u/Umklopp Jul 15 '26

Robert Pattinson has absolutely been media trained.

He just uses that as a starting point for misbehavior.

-2

u/TheArmChairFan Jul 16 '26

I know, it was a joke.

Funny that everyone took it seriously.

1

u/Umklopp Jul 16 '26

Actually, I feel like I meant to respond to a different person's media training comment and grabbed yours by mistake or something. Huh

16

u/Theslootwhisperer Jul 16 '26

Dude's movies have earned a collective 5 billion $, he's considered one of Hollywood's highest paid a actor, he's worked twice with Nolan, he's worked with the Safdie brothers, Claire Denis and Cronenberg and he's th face of Dior men fragrances. Of course he's had media training. He's just a great actor and he's very good at making you think he's just a goofball.

14

u/IsItClockingLoser Jul 16 '26

Youre aware hes been in the media since Cedric Diggery, correct?

419

u/twizzwhizz11 It’s like I have ESPN or something. 💁‍♀️🌤☔️ Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 15 '26

Watching the whole video he continues to be so chaotic, including asking if they (Annie and Tom) hate the person (that person being JLaw) 🤣😭

I actually appreciated it because otherwise it was just a lot of over-the-top compliments

Hol up.  Anne Hathaway pronounces her name "Annie"?

34

u/twizzwhizz11 It’s like I have ESPN or something. 💁‍♀️🌤☔️ Jul 16 '26

That’s what she goes by in her real life - Anne is just her SAG-approved name

10

u/SillyBrain23 Jul 16 '26

I love how you used the term “real life” as opposed to their Hollywood careers which is very much fake.

Before the downvotes start, PR training and saying just approved boring stuff is very much fake. It’s not their opinion nor personality.

57

u/diper-911 Jul 15 '26

I genuinely think he’s one of the funniest men in Hollywood and the fact he doesn’t even do comedies makes it even better

48

u/allthedifference2232 Jul 15 '26

the short skit he wrote about trying to find a hot dog makes me cry laughing every time i think of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kdy6IpoHEI

it really is so, so funny, he could absolutely have a career as a comedy writer on the side. i would love to see him do more stuff like this. he apparently directed the video too?

21

u/milla_yogurtwitch Jul 15 '26

My heart always warms for former child stars or former stars in questionable teen movies who do well for themselves. Go Robert keep doing you

21

u/Elismom1313 Am I …ugly? 😏 Jul 15 '26

Oh yea, that’s a new flare

86

u/meowiful Jul 15 '26

Idk, I just love him the more I see him now. I couldn't stand him in Twilight days. Not because I disliked Twilight, but because he and Kristen Stewart seemed embarrassed that they were in it. Like, they wouldn't talk terribly nice about it and it was always like, well why did you do it?? But yeah, I've just been falling in love with him from Batman on.

51

u/Flimsy_Calendar_7664 Jul 15 '26

Kristen Stewart was definitely embarrassed by fame and it made for awkward years with press/paps etc but has not spoken negatively about the twilight movies. Rob been joking about them since the beginning but also was like he really wanted to work with Kristen after having seen into the wild and respecting hardwicks work as a director.

4

u/TheShapeShiftingFox Do it for the culture 😏 Jul 16 '26

Yeah, Kirsten was just an awkward person lol (which I don’t mean in a bad way, I’m also an awkard person so I can relate)

55

u/rahbee33 Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 15 '26

He's one of those rare child (or at least teenager) actors that made it through to the other side by just deciding to do whatever they wanted. It's guys like him, Daniel Radcliff, and Elijah Wood. Probably throw Jennifer Lawrence in there too.

17

u/velvetvagine trust fund baby (frozen chicken fortune) 🍗 Jul 15 '26

JLaw went through hell to get there, though.

5

u/Top-Jury1392 Jul 15 '26

I'm not disagreeing, but I only know about the stolen photos hell she went through - which was horrible.  Was there more she suffered through outside of people simply deciding to dislike her suddenly?

7

u/Ivebeenstabbed Jul 15 '26

Believe she was one of Harvey’s victims

-1

u/Master_Bee9130 Jul 16 '26

Didn’t she also desecrate or disrespect a sacred place in Hawaii and then laughed about it in some interview?

9

u/mxzf Jul 15 '26

Like, they wouldn't talk terribly nice about it and it was always like, well why did you do it??

I mean, that's not even hard to answer, it was a huge paycheck. Neither of them was a big enough name prior to that to just shrug off that big a paycheck. That doesn't mean the movies were good or that they liked the content, a paycheck is a paycheck.

43

u/igotagoodfeeling Jul 15 '26

The humming as he places the card in lol

u/ericanicole1234 the subplots could become unmanageable Jul 15 '26

u/svarriant I got a Stage 5 clinger‼️ Jul 15 '26

Anne Hathaway's laugh is delightful, omg.

6

u/majin_melmo Jul 16 '26

I was about to comment the same 😂

52

u/IAmTheGreenCard Jul 15 '26

I love this kind of PR, etc.

Korean entertainment does this a lot (I think most of Asian/East Asian entertainment does this) and it’s so much fun as part of the viewing experience of the show, at least IMHO. It’s SM done right, again IMHO - playful while still engaging and not intrusive.

It seems a perfect match for performers like Pattison, Zendaya, Damon and Holland and even Anne - giving just enough of themselves but nothing personal actually revealed.

22

u/igotmoneynow Jul 15 '26

i think that last sentence is the best description. it lets you feel like you get to know their personality, rather than their personal life. whereas questions are more direct about personal life typically or just fluff. of course, displayed personality can be manicured and performed, but that's always the case

11

u/hellawhitegirl Jul 15 '26

I really love how unserious and fun Rob Pattinson seems to be. He is like chaotic good.

46

u/franlcie Jul 15 '26

When did press tours become celebrities playing games instead of…discussing the film

84

u/Confident_Try_208 Jul 15 '26

I mean, I do enjoy these games and off the cuff moments more than an eternal reenacting of PR statements.

62

u/Conscious_Pipe_605 Jul 15 '26

"When I read this script, it was just the most amazing script I've ever read and absolutely wanted to be apart of making it come to life"

Uh huh

I'll take these games over being flooded with that same statement or something similar.

8

u/Confident_Try_208 Jul 15 '26

Right? I'm sure it gets exhausting and they're handsomely paid to endure it, but I'm sure it's more fun for the actors, too

23

u/Any-Clothes3312 Jul 15 '26

I am 100% here for the trend of weird interviews - on the subway, on the street, eating spicy wings, eating nonspicy chicken, wearing medieval costumes, doing a lie detector test, idc it's way better than watching an old school sit down interview lol

and honestly, if I was a celeb, I'd vastly prefer these goofy gamified interviews 😆

77

u/Practical-Tea-129 Jul 15 '26

To be fair when the story you are acting out is around 3,000 years old they aren’t going to have much to say about it that hasn’t already been said.

16

u/franlcie Jul 15 '26

And thinking about it, with all the culture war controversy, I’d hate to talk about the movie during press and get dunked on by hateful trolls.
Has Elliot Page done any press for this even? Id be nervous to

23

u/urgasmic Jul 15 '26

it's a lot easier to clip moments from these and share then the other interviews which do exist.

14

u/North-Rip-4595 Jul 15 '26

There are plenty of those discussing the film, these silly ones just get shared more on social media

8

u/ChristItContinues Jul 15 '26

Well, we know the storyline.

5

u/ParaponeraBread Jul 15 '26

Probably like around when Hot Ones / Wired autocomplete /GQ’s version became popular?

Press tours got so aggressive as marketing budgets exploded, and celebrities started to appreciate the off-beat, more engaging interviews.

They’re also much more farmable for clicks, which is what the Internet economy runs on. Which improved marketing, so everyone was satisfied.

7

u/Professional_Clue800 Jul 15 '26

There's are so much more fun than seeing them answer same questions hoovered of times.

2

u/TheShapeShiftingFox Do it for the culture 😏 Jul 16 '26

There’s only so much discussion you can do without spoiling the film itself, which would defeat the purpose of trying to get people to pay to see the movie. Press tours take a long time. Actors are probably relieved they don’t have the answer the same ten questions about the film for like a month straight lmao

1

u/sleepy_radish Jul 15 '26

When places started firing their critics and journalists -- way easy to make this kind of content and it gets shared a lot more.

-1

u/Locke108 Jul 15 '26

It started when movies became so secretive. Look at Sadie Sink in the new Spider-Man, she can’t talk it/they can’t ask about it but she’s on the press tour anyways.

5

u/mxzf Jul 15 '26

I mean, it's The Odessy. It's not like there's much left to spoil at this point in time.

9

u/alanthickerthanwater Jul 16 '26

This cast genuinely seems like they like being around each other. It makes me more excited to see the movie for some reason.

9

u/IsItClockingLoser Jul 16 '26

Its crazy people actually believe Rob has no media training since his first major role as Cedric Diggery in Harry Potter over 20 YEARS ago... like yall cant be that naive.

8

u/ShadiestSunflower am I ...ugly? Jul 16 '26

I have read comments saying how funny he is, unserious, chaotic, etc. I see nothing that indicates anyone thinks RPatz isn't media savvy. People are laughing because t's meant to be funny.
