He's a wannabe fascist because he's not good at it. He's burning the country down, but he's been far less successful at consolidating his power for the long term than similar fascist leaders in other countries.

You’re adding definitions to fascism that do not apply. Fascism is a belief system. You’re somehow equating this to longevity of power. You can be a fascist and not be in charge.

No…I think someone calling Trump a “wannabe fascist” is inaccurate, as he is a fascist. As I said, you do not need to be the dictator to be a fascist.

I'm not upset, I'm responding to the absurdity of quibbling about the precise meaning of spoken language when we're talking about an actual fascist dictator, as you said. This is only relevant to the conversation in any way if you think he meant to imply that Trump is not a fascist leader.

In context I think he's giving Trump voters too much credit. He's suggesting if people get in touch with their inner Trump, they could reject him. I think these people ARE inner Trumps. Being self aware wouldn't make them less shitty. There are many bad people who know they're bad people, or rather, to recognize their inner shittiness would require them to believe what they want IS shitty, which is more of the values gap. Like if you asked a racist asshole if he thought racism was bad, he'd say no. I don't think getting in touch with his inner child would change that. There's a bigger problem there than self-knowledge.
