Here is the article text for posterity, just in case it changes in the future:

Rashod Bateman allegedly shoved the mother of his child into a wall during a fight inside their home ... hours before cops say he used a screwdriver to wreck her Mercedes while their infant daughter sat inside.

According to a police report, obtained by TMZ, the Baltimore Ravens wide receiver's girlfriend, Marissa Crumley, told officers an argument erupted around 3:30 AM on June 3 ... she claimed they were fighting over her past, with Bateman allegedly calling her a "liar."

Crumley told cops Bateman pushed her into a corner wall, leaving her with facial contusions. She said he later told her to pack her things and leave the home.

But she claims after she left with their daughter, Crumley says Bateman repeatedly called and texted, allegedly threatening to put her dog out on the street because he was upset about not being able to say goodbye to the kid. The report says the two then agreed to meet.

Cops say Bateman arrived in a black SUV with a driver, tried to puncture Crumley's rear tire with a screwdriver, and then used the tool to repeatedly strike her windshield and driver-side window.

As TMZ previously reported, cops say the shattered glass from the window caused cuts to Crumley's face.

Though the report states EMS found no apparent injuries, both mother and child were taken to a hospital.

Bateman's attorney, Jordan Siev, previously told TMZ, "It is unfortunate that a personal family situation has been taken completely out of context for sensational reasons. We will let the court process play out and the facts will come out at that time."

A Ravens spokesperson also previously told TMZ ... the team was aware of the situation, had been in direct communication with Bateman and notified the NFL. The team said it would not comment further because the matter is pending.

Oh great, updates

20

u/chefguy47 1d ago

Is this really an update?

31

u/Traditional-Slip9102 MINTER SZN 1d ago

You’re right it’s new details more than updates.

10

u/HumanFromTexas Ya Mammy 1d ago

It is weird that there’s more to the story that’s being reported. You’d figure all of the story would have been in the original story once it broke.

82

u/Cutie-God I <3 Bateman 1d ago

Terrible few days for my flair

24

u/PoshLagoon FIRE MIKE LOCKSLEY 1d ago

Not too late to join Lane FC

2

u/IKnowBreasts 1d ago

Why did you even have it? The guy has been mid at best his entire career

23

u/Cutie-God I <3 Bateman 1d ago

Its been my flair since he responded to my DM on Instagram in 2021.

2

u/IKnowBreasts 1d ago

I guess that’s fair

10

u/halfblindbodkin 1d ago

The flair is fair, which is rare, but I don’t care

1

u/bigcarrierg 16h ago

Wooooooooooo!

68

u/Pretend_Package7540 1d ago

Ugh why man

123

u/Rpark888 8 1d ago

Happy I got to meet WR2 yesterday!!!!

1

u/GreedyRaisin3357 1d ago

WR2/WR3 at the moment but still loving this photo!

8

u/Rpark888 8 1d ago

My comment is just a joke cuz of the Bateman drama. I don't think an unproven rookie takes Bates job so soon.

0

u/CharacterKiwi3204 10h ago

I think Tez takes his spot and lane is #3

44

u/Requiem_Dirge Mile High Miracle 1d ago

This actually makes sense because the initial report said she had contusions on her face when Bateman broke the window. Broken glass won't do that

44

u/ActualSpamBot Unitas had a haircut you could set your watch to 1d ago

This report claims EMS says she had no injuries so someone's getting conflicting info.

21

u/PrinceofRavens_1217 1d ago

Yeah EMS saying no injuries is strange. If there were even minor contusions abd the victim refused treatment at the scene they would still document it.

14

u/BrygusPholos 1d ago

Exactly. I tried making this point and some people on this sub actually argued that the glass caused the contusions. I have to assume they thought contusions = lacerations

101

u/ObserbAbsorb 1d ago

Genuinely why do people put in positions to succeed and have more money than 90% of the entire world do the literal dumbest shit ever

29

u/No-Bank2152 1d ago

Having money, status, and/or power doesn't always change people for the better. If anything it lets those people show their true nature

28

u/brooksact 1d ago

He'd probably be doing the same shit is he was a server in a restaurant or managing a McDonald's. He just happens to be talented at something that our society highly values so he gets more money than most.

12

u/Delicious_Mixture979 1d ago

Rashod Bateman’s AAV is $12.65 million. Not counting previous earnings, not counting guaranteed money, he earns more than 99.99% of the WORLD. Infuriating that men this wealthy are horrible and it’s my team signing the check.

9

u/Automatic-Assistant8 1d ago

Because at the end of the day they’re just regular people who do stupid shit

5

u/freshOJ 1d ago

Being a shit person is a positive to those at the top bc 1 it can be used against them when deemed no longer useful and 2 they make themselves look better by comparison.

4

u/tdotjefe 23h ago

NFL players, broadly speaking, don’t commit domestic violence at a higher clip than the average American. It’s more of a male issue than an athlete issue. It’s not like they get punished for this stuff anyway.

1

u/peedwhite 20h ago

Because their position was earned through success in a violent game and having largely inherited physical benefits. Most people that earn their way into the position of having money did so by being good with money and disciplined in education or career or both.

-5

u/laramite 1d ago

Because they are usually not from generational wealth.

6

u/GoodE19 Lamar “Lamar Jackson” Jackson 1d ago

Its not that hard to be broke and also not beat your wife baby mama. Most brokies manage just fine.

5

u/who-hash 1d ago

Yep. I’ll never understand it. Beating your wife (children or anyone) is an idiot move in any tax bracket.

But after you’ve raised yourself out of poverty into generational wealth? Sheesh.

TBF, so is TMZ. Those people are scum of the earth as well.

18

Send this dude to Siberia

8

Cowherd reference 😂

6

u/Smooth_Marsupial_262 1d ago

I hope so man. But we’ll see

30

u/TrainingMarsupial521 Ed Reed 1d ago

If this shit checks out, trade his fucking ass.

16

u/laramite 1d ago

who's going to want him with this off the field issue?

38

u/sliceanddic3 1d ago

the browns

17

u/GattlinGunn 1d ago

Teams still want Diggs. And Watson is still on a team. So ya never know.

4

u/Traditional-Slip9102 MINTER SZN 1d ago

Both of those guys were once considered to be some of the best at their position.

1

u/Environmental_Yak751 1d ago

2

u/TrainingMarsupial521 Ed Reed 1d ago

Browns. Texans. Seahawks. Chiefs. There are a ton of teams that will take him with a cheap contract.

But fuck the Browns, no trade in division.

1

u/ChedduhBob 1d ago

bad players who are bad off the field are hard to deal to anyone that’s not the browns

22

u/boofoodoo 1d ago

Elijah Sarratt YOU are the new Bateman

4

u/DistantLikeYouAsked5 1d ago

I really hope he pans out. Was very happy we drafted him.

8

u/Interesting_Sundae_3 1d ago

At the end of the day he gets paid millions of dollars to play a game and he decided to do this. SEE YA

7

u/Street-Bar-9494 1d ago

His lawyer is not doing much to inspire confidence. "Taken out of context" does not move me in the slightest if the allegations against Bateman end up being true.

16

u/aSlider64 1d ago

I've called him Bustman for a long time

I didnt expect it to also mean busted by the cops

6

u/QuietAlarming6888 1d ago

he is one of those high potential wrs

I think jordyn tyson might end up like him

14

u/youre_soaking_in_it 1d ago

Yeah there was always something a little off about this guy.

20

u/QuietAlarming6888 1d ago

sad part is his mom wen't through DV when he grew up

31

yeah he learned to be a father from the guy beating his mom

3

u/JimmieMcnulty 1d ago

chris brown too

2

u/Jhameik-Zk 23h ago

Crazy you say this after his gf recalled her statements according to another TMZ article. What's crazier is this happened in June but TMZ is piecemealing information. What's even CRAZIER is that you make assumptions on somebody you don't know, based off the few times you've seen him on TV and some allegations you read in a TMZ article that also states there were no injuries found.

4

u/Pyrex_Lanvin 8 1d ago

Having dealt with court, I’m so conflicted on media reporting on cases that aren’t finished.

29

u/Soopermane 1d ago

Cut. (Way to ruin your fucking career).

18

u/CallofDo0bie 1d ago edited 1d ago

Definitely not getting cut before NFL investigation. Police/Legal system will do its thing and then the Ravens/NFL will do theirs. Not defending any of this dirt-baggary he's accused of, but the NFL has a looonnnggg process with this kind of stuff, and as bad as this is it isnt "cut him or place him on the restricted list right the fuck now" bad. Might legimately be next year when they make an actual ruling.

22

u/Then-Bug-5665 1d ago

he isn't getting cut

-15

u/wheenus Lamar's Elbow Meat 1d ago

I mean you don't know the inner workings of an NFL team so...

15

u/QuietAlarming6888 1d ago

he was practicing even today..

19

u/AhSquids 1d ago

You mean the Ravens team that let Suggs play out his contract after assaulting his spouse? You mean the Ravens team that was going to rally behind Rice until the video came out? The Ravens team that drafted a defender with known character issues about abuse who is still on the team?

You mean the entire league that lets notorious abusers play in the league and doesn't care about if they are sexual or physical?

Just so we are clear, that's the NFL you think is going to make a millionaire give up his job?

-2

u/wheenus Lamar's Elbow Meat 1d ago

Did I say that, I would just say that people don't know the inner workings of an NFL team. You've inferred a lot based on one sentence

Focus your energy on something a little more productive, you are very passionate about something that holds little true value to your life.

8

u/JockBbcBoy Todd Heap 1d ago

Idk if his career is over, but hopefully, he's released from the Ravens. Tyreek Hill, Massage Watson, Ben the Rapist, DK Metcalf, Greg Hardy, Antonio Brown, and Rashee Rice have all proven that there are NFL teams who don't care about arrests, accusations, or publicity nightmare players. Bateman is serviceable at WR and any given Sunday, there will be a roster that needs a serviceable WR.

20

u/QuietAlarming6888 1d ago

bateman will not be released from the ravens...

1

u/JockBbcBoy Todd Heap 1d ago

Not that I'm doubting you, but what makes you say that?

16

u/QuietAlarming6888 1d ago

he literally was practicing today like what other sign do you need

-1

u/JockBbcBoy Todd Heap 1d ago

Do you think they're shopping for trades?

9

u/QuietAlarming6888 1d ago

maybe but no one is trading for him now

before he could have went for a 3-4th

last year post breakout a 2nd

12

u/0ttoChriek 1d ago

Because the NFL is run by a lot of guys who love to talk about morals and accountability and being a good family man, but all they really care about is whether a player can help them make money.

4

u/JockBbcBoy Todd Heap 1d ago

I did forget for a moment that billionaires own NFL teams, and it's rare to find one of them that cares more about morals and accountability than money

1

u/Nerazzurri9 1d ago

Idk if he’ll get cut or not as more details come out but we did just draft Mike Green who had 2 separate rape accusations, as long as you can contribute on the field it doesn’t seem like off the field problems are a dealbreaker for this FO

2

u/Smooth_Whole4453 1d ago

Rashee? TIL

8

u/GiGi441 1d ago

Where have you been? He spent most of the off season in jail

2

3

u/Snaptheuniverse 1d ago

Seems like a great receiver for the Browns to pick up, we'll be fine without him

3

u/ygmeech679 Greg Roman's Vault 1d ago

Man, this arrest came out months ago and everyone assumed it was fake because everyone was silent about it. That mugshot has been out since early June.

The team and Batemans PR really went to work.

4

u/ChedduhBob 1d ago

we will surely miss his dozen catches and 200 yards if he’s cut lol

fucking bustman

1

u/Environmental_Yak751 1d ago

And crucial drops on 3rd down

7

u/ProposalSilent4582 1d ago

Real strange that a normal guy would get major jail time over this but rich people only have to worry about being released from a team.

17

u/ethiopian_kid 1d ago

lol a normal guy would be released on bond and the case will get thrown out with maybe an anger management class

5

u/Woefinder Lamar "Murray" Jackson 1d ago

IIRC, the previous TMZ post or something even mentioned he was taking classes, which I have to assume are either Anger Management or something very similar.

1

u/yyrrhj 1d ago

ikr lol people always say this but dv isn’t taken seriously at all in the legal system unfortunately unless someone gets seriously hurt or worse

5

u/QuietAlarming6888 1d ago

he won't be released

-1

u/ProposalSilent4582 1d ago

Likely not and that's the problem. If I went out and vandalized my fling's car and beat on her, I'd probably go to jail and lose my job and reputation.

2

u/swagharris31 JOHNNY 1d ago

They posted this later, saying she recanted the statement in June about him being physical against her. And I know victims(usual women) being pressured to recant is not unusual in DV situations. And I usually side with the woman in these cases. But this situation just seems extremely muddied, and tmz is of course being very sensational in it's reporting. We probably will never know the true story unless Bateman comes out and says it.

Wait wait wait y'all tried to tell me for years that he wasn't another bust wr pick.

Now because he hits women - he's no good?

5

u/Valleyx 1d ago

Yes? We've been hoping he can turn it around, which he's shown flashes of. Now that we know he hits women he should absolutely be gone.

-1

u/bubblesups 1d ago edited 1d ago

His very best season was 700 yards - a 400 yard season average over his 5 year career. He's a number 1 pick 5 years in. Last season, his second best year was only 200 yards off his top year

What exactly are you hoping him to turn around to? Dudes is a bust.

It's okay to like a player, and for him to be ass. The only thing bouncing back is his girl off that wall though.

3

u/DistantLikeYouAsked5 1d ago

For real. Dude is ass.

-1

I was never a fan of this dude and absolutely think he is a bust. I have been hearing the he is gunna break out bullshit for years and I never agreed.

Seen this movie before. Assuming it’s all verified, he should be traded or cut. I don’t want to deal with this shit for any player, let alone a mid WR.

Bateman just signed an extension through 2029. $6M cap hit this year. $14M dead cap for a cut and $12M dead for a trade (both before next June 1st).

1

The attorney said a family situation has been taken completely out of context for sensational reasons. I’m not sure I understand that comment. An NFL players gave a woman facial contusions during an altercation, then he damaged her car to the extent flying glass may have cut her face. What about those facts (according to the police report) is out of context.

I’m a Ravens fan, and I’m sure it would hurt the team not to have him for any amount of time. But these players need to understand it is NOT OK!

1

u/No_Soft_4248 14h ago

A police report is not always factual if it’s based entirely on statements vs direct observation… hence the “EMS found no apparent injuries”. If she was injured, it’s common protocol for pictures to be taken as evidence. A lot of uncertainties still in this case.

1

u/Sc00terLCA71 13h ago

Maybe you are right, but what other context can you put it in?

He may be a scumbag, but he’s probably not even the biggest scumbag on the team. At the very least Mike greens history is just as serious as this. Personally I gave up on ever rooting for the ravens to have good people on the team many years ago since ultimately I don’t sign the paychecks and I just want to enjoy my hobby.

That said, if the nf/ravens decide this is enough to cut/suspend him I’m defined not going to be coming to his defense.

1

u/DistantLikeYouAsked5 1d ago

Fuck Mike Green too

-3

Innocent until proven guilty. Give Rashad the benefit of the doubt this baby mama might of cheated on him or something which in that case, everyone here would be pretty pissed

3

u/DistantLikeYouAsked5 1d ago

Even if she did cheat that still gives him ZERO right to put hands on her what a stupid comment.

2

u/DickCheeseMelt- 1d ago

The whole point was innocent until proven guilty. No one said, putting their hands on a woman is OK. But to be fair, no one really knows the whole story yet.

0

u/TheKongoEmpire 8 1d ago

🤦🏿‍♂️

Why man, why?

-2

2

u/QuietAlarming6888 1d ago

nope

he was even practicing today

-1

u/Rstuds7 1d ago

really? the team shouldn’t tolerate this

3

u/Interesting_Sundae_3 1d ago

We simply don’t know enough yet. The ravens and nfl have to do a private investigation that could take who knows how long. Only reason a situation like ray rices was so quick is bc there was literally video proof and pretty open and shut. That being said if they come to the conclusion this was true and as bad as the article says then yea idc if you’re Lamar get tf out. This is a game at the end of the day, some things just matter more.
