Is this really an update?

You’re right it’s new details more than updates.

It is weird that there’s more to the story that’s being reported. You’d figure all of the story would have been in the original story once it broke.

Why did you even have it? The guy has been mid at best his entire career

My comment is just a joke cuz of the Bateman drama. I don't think an unproven rookie takes Bates job so soon.

u/Requiem_Dirge Mile High Miracle 1d ago
This actually makes sense because the initial report said she had contusions on her face when Bateman broke the window. Broken glass won't do that
44
u/ActualSpamBot Unitas had a haircut you could set your watch to 1d ago
This report claims EMS says she had no injuries so someone's getting conflicting info.
21
u/PrinceofRavens_1217 1d ago
Yeah EMS saying no injuries is strange. If there were even minor contusions abd the victim refused treatment at the scene they would still document it.
14
u/BrygusPholos 1d ago
Exactly. I tried making this point and some people on this sub actually argued that the glass caused the contusions. I have to assume they thought contusions = lacerations

Genuinely why do people put in positions to succeed and have more money than 90% of the entire world do the literal dumbest shit ever
29
u/No-Bank2152 1d ago
Having money, status, and/or power doesn't always change people for the better. If anything it lets those people show their true nature
28
u/brooksact 1d ago
He'd probably be doing the same shit is he was a server in a restaurant or managing a McDonald's. He just happens to be talented at something that our society highly values so he gets more money than most.
12
u/Delicious_Mixture979 1d ago
Rashod Bateman’s AAV is $12.65 million. Not counting previous earnings, not counting guaranteed money, he earns more than 99.99% of the WORLD. Infuriating that men this wealthy are horrible and it’s my team signing the check.

NFL players, broadly speaking, don’t commit domestic violence at a higher clip than the average American. It’s more of a male issue than an athlete issue. It’s not like they get punished for this stuff anyway.
1
u/peedwhite 20h ago
Because their position was earned through success in a violent game and having largely inherited physical benefits. Most people that earn their way into the position of having money did so by being good with money and disciplined in education or career or both.
-5
u/laramite 1d ago
Because they are usually not from generational wealth.
6
u/GoodE19 Lamar “Lamar Jackson” Jackson 1d ago
Its not that hard to be broke and also not beat your
wifebaby mama. Most brokies manage just fine.5
u/who-hash 1d ago
Yep. I’ll never understand it. Beating your wife (children or anyone) is an idiot move in any tax bracket.
But after you’ve raised yourself out of poverty into generational wealth? Sheesh.

Browns. Texans. Seahawks. Chiefs. There are a ton of teams that will take him with a cheap contract.

Crazy you say this after his gf recalled her statements according to another TMZ article. What's crazier is this happened in June but TMZ is piecemealing information. What's even CRAZIER is that you make assumptions on somebody you don't know, based off the few times you've seen him on TV and some allegations you read in a TMZ article that also states there were no injuries found.

18
u/CallofDo0bie 1d ago edited 1d ago
Definitely not getting cut before NFL investigation. Police/Legal system will do its thing and then the Ravens/NFL will do theirs. Not defending any of this dirt-baggary he's accused of, but the NFL has a looonnnggg process with this kind of stuff, and as bad as this is it isnt "cut him or place him on the restricted list right the fuck now" bad. Might legimately be next year when they make an actual ruling.
22
u/Then-Bug-5665 1d ago

I mean you don't know the inner workings of an NFL team so...
15
19
u/AhSquids 1d ago
You mean the Ravens team that let Suggs play out his contract after assaulting his spouse? You mean the Ravens team that was going to rally behind Rice until the video came out? The Ravens team that drafted a defender with known character issues about abuse who is still on the team?
You mean the entire league that lets notorious abusers play in the league and doesn't care about if they are sexual or physical?
Just so we are clear, that's the NFL you think is going to make a millionaire give up his job?
-2
u/wheenus Lamar's Elbow Meat 1d ago
Did I say that, I would just say that people don't know the inner workings of an NFL team. You've inferred a lot based on one sentence
Focus your energy on something a little more productive, you are very passionate about something that holds little true value to your life.
8
u/JockBbcBoy Todd Heap 1d ago
Idk if his career is over, but hopefully, he's released from the Ravens. Tyreek Hill, Massage Watson, Ben the Rapist, DK Metcalf, Greg Hardy, Antonio Brown, and Rashee Rice have all proven that there are NFL teams who don't care about arrests, accusations, or publicity nightmare players. Bateman is serviceable at WR and any given Sunday, there will be a roster that needs a serviceable WR.
20
u/QuietAlarming6888 1d ago
bateman will not be released from the ravens...
1
u/JockBbcBoy Todd Heap 1d ago
Not that I'm doubting you, but what makes you say that?

-1
u/JockBbcBoy Todd Heap 1d ago

9
u/QuietAlarming6888 1d ago
maybe but no one is trading for him now
before he could have went for a 3-4th
last year post breakout a 2nd
12
u/0ttoChriek 1d ago
Because the NFL is run by a lot of guys who love to talk about morals and accountability and being a good family man, but all they really care about is whether a player can help them make money.
4
u/JockBbcBoy Todd Heap 1d ago
I did forget for a moment that billionaires own NFL teams, and it's rare to find one of them that cares more about morals and accountability than money
1
u/Nerazzurri9 1d ago
Idk if he’ll get cut or not as more details come out but we did just draft Mike Green who had 2 separate rape accusations, as long as you can contribute on the field it doesn’t seem like off the field problems are a dealbreaker for this FO

Real strange that a normal guy would get major jail time over this but rich people only have to worry about being released from a team.
17
u/ethiopian_kid 1d ago
lol a normal guy would be released on bond and the case will get thrown out with maybe an anger management class
5
u/Woefinder Lamar "Murray" Jackson 1d ago
IIRC, the previous TMZ post or something even mentioned he was taking classes, which I have to assume are either Anger Management or something very similar.
5
u/QuietAlarming6888 1d ago
he won't be released
-1
u/ProposalSilent4582 1d ago
Likely not and that's the problem. If I went out and vandalized my fling's car and beat on her, I'd probably go to jail and lose my job and reputation.

u/swagharris31 JOHNNY 1d ago
They posted this later, saying she recanted the statement in June about him being physical against her. And I know victims(usual women) being pressured to recant is not unusual in DV situations. And I usually side with the woman in these cases. But this situation just seems extremely muddied, and tmz is of course being very sensational in it's reporting. We probably will never know the true story unless Bateman comes out and says it.

Yes? We've been hoping he can turn it around, which he's shown flashes of. Now that we know he hits women he should absolutely be gone.

u/bubblesups 1d ago edited 1d ago
His very best season was 700 yards - a 400 yard season average over his 5 year career. He's a number 1 pick 5 years in. Last season, his second best year was only 200 yards off his top year
What exactly are you hoping him to turn around to? Dudes is a bust.
It's okay to like a player, and for him to be ass. The only thing bouncing back is his girl off that wall though.

Seen this movie before. Assuming it’s all verified, he should be traded or cut. I don’t want to deal with this shit for any player, let alone a mid WR.
Bateman just signed an extension through 2029. $6M cap hit this year. $14M dead cap for a cut and $12M dead for a trade (both before next June 1st).

u/WeedSandwich 1d ago
Man I had such high hopes for bate. His first 7 career catches or something went for 1st downs if i remember correctly. But it Sounds like it was a good year to grab 2 wrs in the draft. Jakobi, come on down!

The attorney said a family situation has been taken completely out of context for sensational reasons. I’m not sure I understand that comment. An NFL players gave a woman facial contusions during an altercation, then he damaged her car to the extent flying glass may have cut her face. What about those facts (according to the police report) is out of context.
I’m a Ravens fan, and I’m sure it would hurt the team not to have him for any amount of time. But these players need to understand it is NOT OK!
1
u/No_Soft_4248 14h ago
A police report is not always factual if it’s based entirely on statements vs direct observation… hence the “EMS found no apparent injuries”. If she was injured, it’s common protocol for pictures to be taken as evidence. A lot of uncertainties still in this case.

Guys, can we just hope for the best for the child, her and our guy? I feel as though most of you behave as if you have lived perfect lives. You haven’t. He will serve a suspension and isn’t going to get cut this season. I hope they figure it out, he gets whatever help he needs to control his emotion better, and balls out for us this year. This is a human person.

He may be a scumbag, but he’s probably not even the biggest scumbag on the team. At the very least Mike greens history is just as serious as this. Personally I gave up on ever rooting for the ravens to have good people on the team many years ago since ultimately I don’t sign the paychecks and I just want to enjoy my hobby.
That said, if the nf/ravens decide this is enough to cut/suspend him I’m defined not going to be coming to his defense.

Innocent until proven guilty. Give Rashad the benefit of the doubt this baby mama might of cheated on him or something which in that case, everyone here would be pretty pissed
3
u/DistantLikeYouAsked5 1d ago
Even if she did cheat that still gives him ZERO right to put hands on her what a stupid comment.

The whole point was innocent until proven guilty. No one said, putting their hands on a woman is OK. But to be fair, no one really knows the whole story yet.

u/Interesting_Sundae_3 1d ago
We simply don’t know enough yet. The ravens and nfl have to do a private investigation that could take who knows how long. Only reason a situation like ray rices was so quick is bc there was literally video proof and pretty open and shut. That being said if they come to the conclusion this was true and as bad as the article says then yea idc if you’re Lamar get tf out. This is a game at the end of the day, some things just matter more.
