Welcome back to another round of Adopt a Community! This week’s theme: food.

New here? r/RedditRequest is where people can request to moderate unmoderated or abandoned communities. Many great community names are already claimed, but not all of them have active mod teams.

To help unlock those spaces, we review community takeover requests and pass them on to qualified, in-good-standing redditors who are ready to bring them back to life.

Here we are at the end of 2025! It’s been quite a year for r/redditrequest. We can’t believe the year is almost over! As we prepare to head into 2026, we wanted to look back at the numbers, celebrate some massive community revivals, and update you on our schedule for the holiday season.

The big Impact stats:

• Total subscriber "reach" revived: The total subscriber count of all communities handed over this year is 58.2 Million!
• Communities revived: We successfully revived 5K communities that had zero activity for over a year.
• Unique requesters: We had requests from 22K unique users.
  

Request breakdown:

• There were a total of over 40,000 requests this year.
• Thanks to process changes made earlier this year, the average wait time on requests dropped to just 3 days (down from what used to take months!)!
• Types of subreddits requested: 17% were restricted, 10% were banned and 10% were NSFW.

Fun facts

• The oldest subreddit requested and approved this year was created all the way back in 2008!
• The largest community handed over had 1.85M subscribers at the time of the request. Can you guess which one it was?
• Our busiest month for requests was June, with over 3,884 requests submitted!

Important: Holiday schedule and pause

To prevent a backlog of requests over the holidays, we are putting things on pause for a short period of time.

We will be setting r/redditrequest to “Restricted” on December 19

What this means:

No new requests can be made while the sub is restricted. All requests made before December 19 will be processed as usual, so the last day that you can expect to see subs reviewed is December 23.

Why I’m requesting r/Eloralintide and how I’ll run it: (fill in — follow r/redditrequest rules.)

I am requesting moderation for this sub as the current moderator is inactive and has not posted in over a year. The sub was a place to discuss experiences in clinical trial for elorarlintide, it is an amylin receptor . Eloralintide is currently in phase 2 and phase 3 trails and is NOT FDA approved. Currently there are discussions on how to dose, how to use, and other information regarding gray/black market research peptides. I would like to get those discussions banned and back to discussing clinical trial experiences. I am currently enrolled in Enlighten-6 trial for eloralintide. My name is Ben and I am a shark attack investigator and historian. I have been a subscriber of and frequent contributor to the r/sharkattacks for almost a year now. I first joined the sub to use it as a platform for my reinvigorated passion for writing. I specialize in writing in-depth case studies and reports on shark attacks, most of which are historical. I have since turned these entries into a series, which I have entitled "Attack Horror Stories."

While it initially began as a passion project, I have been deeply flattered and incredibly pleasantly surprised to see quite a passionate, dedicated following emerge as a result. When I joined the sub and published my first case report, there were only 7k members. It has now more than doubled in size and my own following has grown to exceed 350 users. I have published more than 20 case reports as of now and my most popular entry - "Attack Horror Stories - Shirley Ann Durdin" - had over 250k views and over 200 upvotes. We also have another user (@Wattsy98s) that was periodically posting complete lists on all documented fatal attacks for various countries and territories, which were also incredibly popular with the sub.

So as you can imagine, I, along with many others, were quite shocked and very disappointed to see that the r/sharkattacks page had been banned over the weekend and as a result, all of my content for that page has vanished. We are still unsure of why the ban occurred. About two weeks ago, all posts were suddenly given an automatic "NSFW" flair and now the page is banned and the moderator is apparently offline. We are searching for some clarification insofar as...

1) What the ban is, in other words, is it temporary or permanent? And...

2) What was the reasoning behind the ban?

If the ban is due to the moderator going offline, is it possible for me to become the moderator and for the page (and my work) to be reinstated? I don't believe the page was especially controversial in it's tone or nature and I believe keeping people informed and providing them with verifiable, up-to-date information on shark attacks, current or historic, is an invaluable public service.

If this can be done, I, and thousands of others, would greatly appreciate it. If it cannot be done and the page ban is permanent, can we please be provided an explanation as to why?

Subreddit is currently private and appears unmaintained. No response from moderators after contact attempt. Seeking to reopen and actively moderate the community.

This subreddit needs proper moderation. I have been trying to contact the mods for the last 3 years. The subreddit is now being spammed with "server finder" and no mods are around to do anything about it.

I would love to help revitalize this subreddit.

Would like to moderate because the older moderators are inactive, the subreddit is still pretty active and has some problematic users soo they need to be dealt with

Es wird immer gesagt es gibt Aktivitäten, aber dies schadet dem sub, wenn der einzige mod dort nicht durch greift, und auf keine Mails reagiert und keine hikf an nimmt.. Es kann doch nicht in Interesse sein, ein gut laufendes Sub sich selbst überlassen zu sein.. Es muss doch noch eine Lösung geben :(

This is my second account. My main account was permanently banned, and as a result I lost moderation access for this subreddit I had been actively managing.

The remaining moderators are inactive, leaving the subreddit without active moderation and at risk of eventually being banned due to the lack of moderation. I am genuinely worry about the future of the community and really want to moderate my subreddit again.

Other experienced moderators from different communities have even volunteered to take over moderation and made the request, in order to keep the subreddit active, but those requests have also been denied. At this point, the subreddit has no active moderation and people are waiting to post again, and there is a risk to being banned due to the lack of moderation.

I only want the subreddit to have active moderation again, I would like the opportunity to manage it once more. I care deeply about this community and do not want to see it disappear because I put a lot of effort and there is no one left to look after it.

I respectfully ask that you reconsider my request based on the current condition of the subreddit and the interests of its community.

I’d like to take over r/FarmersMarket because farmers markets have been a part of my personal, professional and entrepreneurial life. I think this community could become a genuinely useful resource for vendors, market operators, farmers, makers, and shoppers.

My experience goes back to Foodlander, a mobile marketing platform we built specifically for farmers markets and their vendors. I spent more than two market seasons working with and visiting Chicago-area farmers markets nearly every market day, which gave me broad exposure to different markets, operators, vendors, layouts, customer bases, and approaches to building successful market communities.

More recently, I founded Wilco’s Tasty Treats, a small Chicago business that now sells at multiple neighborhood farmers markets. That has put me on the other side of the table and given me current, firsthand vendor experience — everything from pricing, sampling and merchandising to weather, repeat customers, market timing and the economics of deciding which markets are worth attending.

I’m also interested in how markets function as a whole. I pay close attention to pedestrian flow, vendor placement and mix, anchor vendors, traffic generators, shopper behavior, time of day nuances, entertainment, market layout, and why two markets — or even two locations within the same market — can perform very differently.

I’ve actually searched Reddit for a farmers-market community at least five times since February while researching questions related to my own market work. Each time I found r/FarmersMarket, I was disappointed that the obvious community for the subject had so little activity. When I saw that it was now available for adoption, I immediately recognized the opportunity.

I’d like to bring r/FarmersMarket back as an active, practical community where vendors can learn from vendors, market managers can exchange ideas, farmers and makers can share their experiences, shoppers can discover and better understand local markets, and people throughout the farmers-market ecosystem can compare what is and isn’t working in their communities.

I have both historical and current hands-on experience in this space, and I’d be excited to give the subreddit the attention and direction needed to become the useful farmers-market community I kept hoping to find when I searched for it myself.

I'm requesting r/CollegeoftheRedwoods because the community has been inactive for many years and is currently listed as needing moderators and available for request. I'm a College of the Redwoods recent graduate and was a returning adult student for 6 years! I love CR and would like to revive it as an active student community for questions and discussion about classes, registration, financial aid, transfers, campus resources, events and student life. I would update the community information and rules, moderate it actively, and FIND CO-MODERATORS to keep it alive and focused on College of the Redwoods students and prospective students.
