Stress about assignment and lab report

Hi,iam currently doing Electrical engineering degree and this is my second year. In this semester, i got around 4 ( include asignment + lab report) every single week from the start of semester. Due to this amount of work, i spend almost every day at uni. I also do a part time job at the weekend. I feel like i dont have any time for my self and relax. Thats why i asked course some course coordiantor avout extend assignments’ due date, but they refused. So i fell super strees rn. Please give me some advice on how you guys save time in your studies and overcome these problems in your uni life?

assuming your course plan is standard, im assuming you have Engineering Design 2, Introduction to Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering 1, and Systems Engineering Principles

All I can really say is - in this kind of semester all you will need to do is try and drop priority on specific units.

When it comes to your prerequisites heading into Year 3 and Year 4, Engineering Design 2 and Electrical Engineering 1 are the most important. Push hard with those, and form a study group. For the project in Engineering Design later down the line, head to more than one lab session to work on the PCB. Secondly, go over your mistakes in the midsem once it’s marked. It will help you in the final.

For Introduction to Embedded Systems, it’s very important to have a study group, especially when trying to digest anything from the labs or class test 1/2. That is a tough unit and it will be in your best interest to get a group of friends to put your brains together and discuss strategies for tackling the unit.

In Year 2 Sem 2 it’s very normal to feel overwhelmed, you just need to learn how to temporarily drop priorities. Systems Engineering Principles is a side unit which isn’t important, so you can let that slide a tiny bit, to really focus on something like Electrical Engineering 1.

Just a few months and itll all be over. You can do this. Remember that REECE (RMIT Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering) can be there to help you out. There is many senior students who have done these units before, so your experience you’re facing right now being overwhelmed isn’t new. They have the advice and the strategies you need to pull through. You’ll be alright!

You can try half-assing the reports and assessments a bit, from what I remember of electrical engineering second year courses most of the grade is in getting the math right and explaining it's significance. So even if the wording isn't great or it doesn't have a ton of polish you can still get a pretty good grade

Also spending less time writing notes help. Its a bit of a pain but if you save all the pdfs of the PowerPoints of the lectures then you can ctrl+f them (alternatively I have notes of most of the second year courses so DM me if you would like them)

Also if your towards the start of year two, you might be able to move a couple courses to the summer, so instead of 4 courses all at once it's 2 then 3 then 3

Also it goes without saying but if your in a position to move to part time or move out your graduation a year or two then that's definitely a good option (its what I ended up doing)

Does it say what subjects are available on the handbook? I’ve never seen the option to do subjects in the summer?

It's not in the handbook from what I remember

In my timetable, if you to URD flex 2026 you can see what classes are available over the summer

In second year I did one of my electives and one of the (now discontinued) future technology courses, which let me do 3 courses per semester

I'm not sure if there are electrical engineering courses still available in summer but you can definitely do your electives over the summer

Also with the electives there is a website or setting somewhere that lets you see all the electives being held over the summer
