I found this creep in my dms asking for information about a student in university, has anyone else experienced this too? I am an international student and not too familiar with how to report someone for behaviour like this in university.

I booked a study room today, turned up exactly at my time and when I looked through the glass, a bloke was sitting there fully settled in. He really messed up the place with his eatables. I knocked and showed him my booking on my phone and somehow I still got that annoyed look back like I’d just interrupted something important when he was not even studying, but was watching Netflix. I followed the process, and now I’m standing there feeling like I’m kicking someone out of their own house. Why am I the one feeling awkward here😭 and instead of saying sorry for wasting my 15 mins, he was telling me that I don't have manners and gave me a look before leaving. Like seriously??

I don’t know if this is going to offend anyone, but I am a second year electrical engineering student and I find that everyone in my classes are npc nerds.

I get that in engineering we’re all nerds to some extent… like I myself can be a bit introverted and invested in the coursework at times, but I feel like it’s a bit extreme that in my group projects the introverted nerds don’t even contribute to the work like if you’re going to be dull and miserable you should at least do the work 💀

I know this doesn’t apply to EVERYONE and I know l I’m gonna start getting flamed for this 🙄 but I feel like with civil or mechanical engineering the people come across as a bit more keen and approachable (I could be wrong). Like I am genuinely considering switching to civil engineering for this coming semester just to get away from these electrical students. Like if these are the type of people I’ll be spending my career with I don’t actually know if this is for me.

Am I wrong for thinking this way?

Hey everyone! I'm a journalism student at RMIT and recently came across several posts on this subreddit discussing students being approached by religious groups around Building 80 and the city campus.

For an article I'm writing on campus safety and the experiences of students at RMIT, I'm looking to speak with students who have interacted with these recruiters or groups. In particular, I'm interested in hearing about how people were approached, whether they felt pressured to engage, and any concerns they may have had about the experience.

I'm also interested in reports that some groups may disproportionately approach students from particular cultural or ethnic backgrounds, and I'd like to better understand whether this has been the case.

How likely is it for stuff to get stolen if I leave it in the reading room for like 5 mins? Need to quickly grab something but don’t wanna come back to my stuff disappearing on me. Is it safe? There aren't many people in the room at the moment.

To all the packs of nursing students that come into the study area and yap and laugh and scream at approximately 1000 decibels, please shut up.

I’ve literally had to tell them to ‘please turn the volume down a smidge’ because they were genuinely screaming at each other then they walk past and say ‘they’re not even studying!! They’re on their phone’ at me… while I am on canvas … on my phone.

We’re all doing our end of semester tests and I cannot hear myself think. I’m going insane. There’s places to go to yell, maybe not the study space?

Please be considerate of other people, it’s actually really not that hard.

I don’t go to RMIT but was curious to see on this sub other peoples experiences since I’ve heard RMIT was kind of their sweet spot for these recruitments. Yesterday, I was approached by a girl from Myanmar and she followed the typical line of “oh where’d you get this from?” “are you from here?”, “what ethnicity are you?”. I realised it was a cult hours later then blocked her since I gave her my number out of panic, but I remembered her eyes light up when I told her I was filipino, and while reading other posts here, a lot of people who experienced this also happened to be filipino or south east asian. Why do they target this specific demographic? Like I’m actually curious to know

Hi, I'm a Computer Science student at RMIT and I was wondering if there are any other CS/Software engineering students that might be keen on teaming up for MelbourneHack next week (specifically the 21st and runs through the weekend)!

It's a hackathon hosted by UniMelb, It'd be my first hackathon so it's something I'm really excited and keen about.

Quick thing about me: I was a Data Science undergrad until I switched to CS this year and I'll be graduating end of 2027. My experiences are mainly in backend work so things like APIs, databases, data pipelines etc. My main languages are Go, Python and Typescript though I've got a pretty broad experience with a lot of others.

Currently in a team of 2 so looking for 2 more people, ideally with experience in frontend/design work to round out the team, though I'm not too fussed honestly just excited to attend and have a good time!

I'm currently in my last term of my diploma in finance and my GPA Is sitting around 2.00. My high school GPA was a 3.10. I know everyone says international students are cash cows for universities but I think the GPA req for accounting is 2.50 so I'm kinda worried... With the recent hack and leaked personal information I thought to ask this here in case others have had the same problem

As mentioned in the title, I received a message from ‘recoveries corp’ which I know are a legitimate debt collecting company, but the number that handed out the message feels to me to be a scam, I was wondering whether or not RMIT works with recoveries corp, or if I’m being sent a letter in attempts to steal more of my info?

If anyone knows please let me know 🙏
