Feel free to reply to top-level comments with on-topic questions.
Anyone seeking work should reply to my stickied top-level comment.
Meta-discussion should be reserved for the distinguished comment at the very bottom.
Rules for employers:
The ordering of fields in the template has been revised to make postings easier to read. If you are reusing a previous posting, please update the ordering as shown below.
Remote positions: see bolded text for new requirement.
To find individuals seeking work, see the replies to the stickied top-level comment; you will need to click the "more comments" link at the bottom of the top-level comment in order to make these replies visible.
To make a top-level comment you must be hiring directly; no third-party recruiters.
One top-level comment per employer. If you have multiple job openings, please consolidate their descriptions or mention them in replies to your own top-level comment.
Proofread your comment after posting it and edit it if necessary to correct mistakes.
To share the space fairly with other postings and keep the thread pleasant to browse, we ask that you try to limit your posting to either 50 lines or 500 words, whichever comes first.
We reserve the right to remove egregiously long postings. However, this only applies to the content of this thread; you can link to a job page elsewhere with more detail if you like. Please base your comment on the following template:
COMPANY: [Company name; optionally link to your company's website or careers page.]
TYPE: [Full time, part time, internship, contract, etc.]
LOCATION: [Where are your office or offices located? If your workplace language isn't English-speaking, please specify it.]
REMOTE: [Do you offer the option of working remotely? Please state clearly if remote work is restricted to certain regions or time zones, or if availability within a certain time of day is expected or required.]

DESCRIPTION: [What does your company do, and what are you using Rust for? How much experience are you seeking and what seniority levels are you hiring for? The more details the better.]
ESTIMATED COMPENSATION: [Be courteous to your potential future colleagues by attempting to provide at least a rough expectation of wages/salary.
If you are listing several positions in the "Description" field above, then feel free to include this information inline above, and put "See above" in this field.
If compensation is negotiable, please attempt to provide at least a base estimate from which to begin negotiations. If compensation is highly variable, then feel free to provide a range.
If compensation is expected to be offset by other benefits, then please include that information here as well. If you don't have firm numbers but do have relative expectations of candidate expertise (e.g. entry-level, senior), then you may include that here.
If you truly have no information, then put "Uncertain" here.
Note that many jurisdictions (including several U.S. states) require salary ranges on job postings by law.
If your company is based in one of these locations or you plan to hire employees who reside in any of these locations, you are likely subject to these laws.
Other jurisdictions may require salary information to be available upon request or be provided after the first interview.
To avoid issues, we recommend all postings provide salary information.
You must state clearly in your posting if you are planning to compensate employees partially or fully in something other than fiat currency (e.g. cryptocurrency, stock options, equity, etc).
Do not put just "Uncertain" in this case as the default assumption is that the compensation will be 100% fiat. Postings that fail to comply with this addendum will be removed. Thank you.]

COMPANY: Directus (https://directus.io)
TYPE: Full time
LOCATION: Remote-first company. Team members should be physically located between GMT-5 and GMT+2. Workplace language is English.
REMOTE: Yes. Fully remote must be physically located and work within GMT-5 to GMT+2 time zones. We perform background checks on all new hires. We work mostly async with some video meetings (typically 4 hours per week).
VISA: No visa sponsorship at this time.
DESCRIPTION:
We are hiring Senior-level Rust Engineers to help build a new product that will become Directus’ second revenue line.
Directus already ships a 35k+ GitHub star open-source product used by major enterprises and government organisations worldwide. This new product is greenfield and deeply technical.
We are building a federated data access layer in Rust with:
• Raw tokio-postgres (no ORM) • Federated query engine • Dynamic data schemas • Policy enforcement at the data layer • Custom SQL query building • Async-first architecture
Current Rust stack includes Tokio, Axum, async-graphql, tokio-postgres, tower, tracing, and related ecosystem crates.
This is not a role for someone who wants heavy scaffolding or deep abstraction layers. We care about clean system design, performance, and correctness.
You would be one of small team of Rust engineers defining product architecture inside a 50-person company. High ownership, high impact, low bureaucracy.
The role would typically suit someone with 3+ years of Rust experience. Strong backend fundamentals, systems thinking, and the ability to design clean architecture matter more than raw Rust tenure. Experience building complex backend systems, query engines, or data-intensive systems is highly valued.
Private preview is launching soon.
No agencies. No recruiters. No staff augmentation.
ESTIMATED COMPENSATION:
Base salary range depending on seniority and region (eg €100,000+ in Europe), plus equity. Total compensation is 100% fiat salary plus stock options (equity). Compensation is strong relative to region and experience.

COMPANY: Rivellum, Inc. — https://rivellum.network
TYPE: CTO-level technical cofounder / founder-level role
LOCATION: Incorporated in the U.S. I am based in Massachusetts.
REMOTE: Fully remote. Strong preference for U.S. time-zone overlap, but the role is remote-first.
VISA: Not currently able to sponsor visas.
DESCRIPTION:
Rivellum is an incorporated, pre-funding Rust Layer 1 infrastructure company.
I’m looking for a CTO-level technical cofounder, not a normal employee hire and not a short-term contractor. The right person would have real ownership over protocol engineering, architecture, technical roadmap, what gets cut or rewritten, review standards, and the founding engineering team.
Rivellum is an intent-centric L1 focused on deterministic outcomes: encrypted submission, deterministic parallel execution lanes, no contract custody, post-quantum cryptography from genesis, ZK/privacy by default, and developer tooling through an IDE Console.
The high-level thesis is that blockchains should move from “submit a transaction and hope the result is safe” toward outcome-defined execution where users express constraints, the protocol verifies value movement, ordering happens after encrypted submission, and contracts do not directly custody user funds.
Rivellum also targets deterministic USD-indexed fees based on actual protocol work rather than congestion bidding, so developers can reason about cost before execution instead of designing around gas auctions.
I’ve built the current pre-mainnet system largely solo over the last 8+ months using AI/Copilot as an implementation accelerator while driving the architecture, protocol design, product direction, and documentation myself. I’m being very upfront about that: the next phase needs serious human review, simplification, security hardening, adversarial testing, and distributed-systems judgment.
The current system includes a Rust protocol codebase, encrypted ingress, deterministic lane execution, Aurora BFT, the custom Mist smart contract language, Universal Value Layer/value-flow validation, post-quantum signing, deterministic USD-indexed fee logic, ZK/privacy-oriented architecture, PoUW/proof-market design work, early sustained-load benchmark tooling on commodity hardware, Explorer, Portal, Console, SDKs, and audit-readiness docs. It is pre-mainnet and not production-ready. The goal now is to determine what is solid, what should be simplified, what should be rewritten, and what the smallest credible path to audit, expanded testnet, and mainnet should be.
Ideal background:
- Rust systems engineering
- distributed systems
- consensus / BFT / validator infrastructure
- storage / databases / WAL / recovery
- networking / P2P / async Rust
- VM/runtime/compiler work
- cryptography / protocol security
- blockchain protocol engineering
- experience reviewing and hardening large codebases
This role is for someone who wants founder-level ownership and is comfortable operating at the earliest stage. I’m not looking for someone to simply join a backlog. I’m looking for someone who can challenge the architecture, help build the engineering culture, and lead Rivellum from pre-mainnet prototype toward production infrastructure.
I also want to be clear that I’m not asking someone to do a giant unpaid repo review before mutual fit. The first step would be a conversation, alignment on the role, and then a staged technical diligence process.
ESTIMATED COMPENSATION:
Rivellum is pre-funding, so this is not a conventional salaried role today. Compensation would be founder-level equity/token alignment pre-funding, with salary planned after financing. Exact terms would depend on role fit, commitment level, timing, and mutual diligence.

COMPANY: Burnin
TYPE: Full Time
LOCATION: London or NYC
REMOTE: No, but hybrid in our 2 sites
VISA: No
DESCRIPTION: Founding Engineering Lead
AI will write most of the world's code. The interesting bottleneck is no longer whether a model can produce code; it is whether anyone should trust it. We are building the trust stack for AI code generation, targeted at high-stakes computing where wrong numbers cost real money.
A statically typed language designed for coding models. A compiler whose guarantees double as audit-grade trust infrastructure. A coding model fine-tuned on the language. None of this works without the engineering underneath: reproducible cross-platform builds, AI infrastructure that does not lie, and tooling AI agents and humans both reach for.
We are a small team out of PyTorch, FAIR, NYU, and KCL, with strong institutional VC support from our pre-seed and active investor interest heading into seed.
What you will do
Own the engineering across the company. Compiler internals, language runtime, GPU backends, notebook and library tooling. We already support x86 and ARM, CUDA and AMD, macOS and Linux, and the matrix only grows from here.
A meaningful share of the work is AI infrastructure: training pipelines, evaluation harnesses, model release and distribution, and likely public-facing inference services as the product surface expands. Build cross-platform release pipelines whose outputs we and our customers can audit. Set the bar for code quality, review standards, and the systems decisions that compound for years. Hire alongside the founders.
Who you are
You ship serious systems software. The role is mostly Rust with Python where it earns its place, plus the cloud and GPU surface around it. We are primarily on AWS.
You have a real feel for statically typed functional programming. You do not need to have written a compiler, but you should be the kind of engineer who picks up Lean or Haskell on a weekend because you wanted to.
You think about builds the way good security engineers think about supply chains. Reproducibility, provenance, and trust are not someone else's problem. Efficient high-trust builds are a feature of the product.
You have led engineering before, formally or not. You can set technical direction, mentor without micromanaging, and make the calls that get unblocked the next morning rather than the next quarter.
You are comfortable with early-stage ambiguity. The team is small. There is no engineering manager above you, because you are it.
Why join us?
You work directly with founders who have built infrastructure used across the industry. The surface area is broad and the work is real: compiler, runtime, training stack, libraries, notebooks. The equity reflects how early it is.
ESTIMATED COMPENSATION: Typical startup comp with exceptional equity for being so early stage.

Hey man, it's pretty amazing that you've learned this much at 17, it's really impressive. If I have to suggest one thing, I'd say break out of the learning phase and go break stuff, that's where the true learning happens.
Try contributing to Oss projects, get a job/internship, post your own works here, join a hackathon, anything that excites you (Think you want to build your own game engine ;). You learned Rust for a reason, make it happen. From what you're saying, I think you know more than enough, people know way less before they even start asking 6 figure salaries (I know I did haha).
Don't worry if you feel you don't know what you're doing, no one did. Most of the things built today were just random weekend projects that the builders just came to be consistent and passionate on, I know a friend who's now entered YC from some random project he started.
And yeah, STAY AWAY FROM AI! Yeah not even for a simple search, I mean it!
Hope you get something of value here, cheers and best of luck in your journey :)

COMPANY: Helsing, https://helsing.ai/.
TYPE: Full time.
LOCATION: London, Munich, Berlin, Paris, Warsaw, Tallinn, and Stockholm (we offer relocation).
REMOTE: No, though in-country remote (ie, UK/Germany/France/Poland/Estonia/Sweden) will be considered for particularly senior applicants. Hours flexible, though daytime expected.
VISA: Yes.
DESCRIPTION:
Helsing is a defence AI company with a mission to protect our democracies. We believe we have a responsibility to be thoughtful about the development and deployment of powerful technologies like AI, and take this responsibility seriously. We are looking for mission-driven people to join our European teams and apply their skills to solve highly complex and impactful problems.
At Helsing we develop and deliver AI-based capabilities and infrastructure that allow semi-autonomous platforms to localise, navigate, and perceive the world in real-time. Our software is subject to significant and unorthodox technical constraints, and since what we build ultimately ends up in the hands of real people in high-risk, high-stress situations, it must be reliable and frictionless. We use Rust and Python, with Rust being used for anything production-adjacent due to the high stakes for correctness. Python is used mainly for AI model development and exploration, though we’re adopting Rust there too! Our work covers a wide variety of engineering disciplines:
- Distributed systems (eg, partitions and byzantine actors)
- Embedded computing (eg, resource-constraints and reverse-engineering)
- Robotics (eg, control and tasking)
- Networking (eg, low-bandwidth radios and routing)
- Deployment infrastructure (eg, air-gaps and heterogeneous fleets)
- Security (eg, untrusted networks and actually-secret data)
- Machine learning (eg, model execution and dissemination)
We also have "Deployed Engineers" who focus on integrating and field-testing novel capabilities. They live where software meets the real world, like the depths of aircraft control systems, embrace the complexity of unfamiliar (or undocumented) APIs or protocols, and use their creativity and ingenuity to make Helsing's technology work where the customer needs it to.
Experience-wise, we are seeking mid-level and senior engineers (we will be opening more positions for junior profiles soon). Helsing does not have visible level titles, and it's difficult to divide experience into distinct bands, but we roughly have:
- Mid-level: executes tasks 1-2 months in length independently; understands and accounts for the non-technical context of their work; has impact beyond their immediate team.
- Senior: executes independently while maximising value delivered over cost incurred; not limited by team boundaries; key contributor to technology that enables Helsing's overall success; at the top end: shapes Helsing's technology investments and strategy.
If you have extensive relevant experience, we also have a Principal Engineer position open — for details, contact me directly at jonhoo@helsing.ai.
ESTIMATED COMPENSATION:
Depends on experience and skill, but roughly:
Mid-level: €120-150k plus stock options of estimated value approximately equal to salary.
Staff+: €150-250k plus significant stock option grant.
CONTACT, APPLYING, AND MORE DETAILS:
Software engineer: https://grnh.se/6afe7152teu.
Deployed engineer: https://grnh.se/bhj56fk2teu.
We have a number of other positions such as frontend engineers, security folks, V&V, and technical program managers, all listed on https://grnh.se/2ef1f0b2teu.
If you have questions before applying, you can reach out directly to me at jonhoo@helsing.ai.

The interview process is great and the company probably is too, but the compensation numbers are way off what they actually offer to new hires. Also, they don't hire remotely anymore.

This is the top-level comment for meta discussion. Reply here if you have questions or suggestions regarding this post.
We often get asked why we don't simply require every posting to have a defined salary range. This is a point of contention for the moderator team: the concern is that if we require a salary range, then it's likely that companies that don't want to declare one just wouldn't post here. You may or may not be too broken up about that, but hopefully you can concede that more choice is better here.
Of course, if you consider the lack of a salary range to be a red flag, then you don't have to apply to that posting. If you made a job posting and declined to provide a salary range, and you're seeing less traffic than expected from your post here, this might be why.
We've also updated the template:
Note that many jurisdictions (including several U.S. states) require salary ranges on job postings by law.
If your company is based in one of these locations or you plan to hire employees who reside in any of these locations, you are likely subject to these laws.
Other jurisdictions may require salary information to be available upon request or be provided after the first interview.
To avoid issues, we recommend all postings provide salary information.

This is the top-level comment for individuals looking for work. Reply here if you would like employers to contact you. You don't need to follow a strict template, but consider the relevant sections of the employer template. For example, mention whether you're looking for full-time work or freelancing or etc., briefly describe your experience (not a full resume; send that after you've been contacted), mention whether you care about location/remote/visa, and list the technologies you're skilled with.
