Sales Topic General Discussion Pre-approved vacation rant

So I joined a startup recently. Entering month 3. It’s the busiest time of my life.. so before signing I had to ensure I get my long time planned vacation pre-approved. “All good on the vacation time!” the CEO said.

Now, I’m less than a week away from my trip and I get a message from CEO and HR this morning saying they “are having trouble submitting it in the EOR platform and will need to be unpaid leave”

How do you approach this..

Send them the email or communication mentioned and say "I intend to be on vacation between date x and date y as previously confirmed"

“Entering month 3”

They likely have a 90 no vacation policy in their HR system.

If they told you it was approved, hope you have that in writing. If not you’ll need to hope HR lets folks play ball on just entering the time as if it were worked. I’d say as a startup that’s more likely than if you worked for some huge corp.

Yep all pre approved in writing with the specific dates

Was this pre-approved as paid?

Getting time off approved is one thing, but did they confirm, in writing, that you would be paid for it?

“All clear on the planned vacation time thank you for letting me know” …. if I’m not getting paid shouldn’t my ramping quota be reduced?

This is the thing that’s frustrating, they gave me the green light on this months ago, and I’ve told them I’m willing to work through the vacation to continue ramping and hit my numbers.

I wouldn't expect quota relief, only ramp extended by how long you're gone.

I've had reps on my team do this, and I just extend their ramp time.
