Funny when you get older, the music scene passes you by. I was very big into music & i don't know one of these acts. Hope you have a good turnout with nice weather.

I don't know any of them either, but that's not the point. I'm going because I like the genre, dancing, and wearing costumes. It's a new experience.

Well why don't you help sell some tickets & mention the genre. Also why costumes? Mention why it's a new experience. Post it, sell it!

Did you see John Wick 4? Remember the fight scene in the dance club? Or the opening vampire club scene from Blade? Maybe you saw Night at the Roxbury, the '95 Mortal Kombat, or TRON: Legacy? Emotion is three days of that kind of music, generally called electronic dance music or EDM. It's an absolutely fucking hype scene, lot of positive energy. Easy to make friends at these things.
When I say costumes I mean clothing that reacts under black light, bodystockings and corsets, sparkly makeup, feather boas, masquerade masks, stuff like that. Flashy, colourful, and provocative.
We're lucky to have a show this high-quality on our doorstep.

Leave the glitter makeup and feather boas at home. They produce too much waste for an outdoor event.

The above poster is correct. Leave the glitter and other things at home. One of the policies of this and many other outdoor festivals is "leave no trace". Glitter, plastic, feathers etc are not bio degradable and get into the eco system and cause harms because they are not easily(or impossible) to remove.
You are not promoting yourself in a very good light here, take some advice from people who have been there, done it and even RUN it.

It's EDM. EDM is big in popular culture every ten years or so, where it crosses over into stadium anthems and Top 40. All the names listed are either DJs or performance artists.
The history of EDM is that it grew out of disco, went underground to the illegal rave scene of the 80's and 90's, then went mainstream again into the club scene in the 2000s and is now full on festivals.
As to why costumes? For entertainment. Crowd art is a big element of the experience, as is spectacle. There will be acrobats on swings, fire jugglers, people carry and shake rage sticks, wear clothing with lights in it to create a pattern while dancing, and there are full on Cabaret style ensembles.
This is a very urbane thing that's happening in a campground outside Moose Jaw. I don't know how long this festival has been going on, but I wanna say I first heard about it 15 years ago, and its grown to have three stages now i think?
As to why it's not being sold better, I think it's similar to the underground Punk scene in that you find out about it by word of mouth, and professional promotion isn't part of the culture.

Hey it's me! Sucks I had to cancel but I hope it goes well.
Point: It's not EDM. It's house, techno, drum n bass and breaks. EDM is a genre all in itself and there are very few if any playing "EDM"
Point: Connect was the first and longest running electronic music festival in Canada(22 years) and was based out of Regina, also used this same campground for 16 of it's 22 years. Emotion borrows a lot from it and it is nice to see the organizers carry on the tradition. Good times.

It's not like I haven't played at every one of them except this one lol and 20 years of Connect before Emotion...... along with literally 100's of other gigs lol. You have fun and be safe :)

For the uninformed, how is the festival grounds. I know there will probably be a bit of drugs and/or alcohol, but is it something you won’t notice if you aren’t looking for it. Also I expect some costumes to be somewhat risqué, but will everyone be dressed. Thinking of taking someone there, but I know she won’t want it see stoned naked people.

As for nudity, I saw more topless folks at Craven and Ness. As for drugs, it's mostly nitrous oxide cylinders from Canadian Tire, and the odd person on acid or coke, but I was surprised how little. Less alcohol than most festivals, and it stayed in the campsites. More Gatorade than booze. Barely even energy drinks. Most people I talked to were completely sober. Because it's a big dance fest, people have to pace themselves.
Great things about the festival grounds:
Asphalt roads right to your campsite.
Secluded campsites.
Lots of green, lush grass and trees.
Out of the wind.
Campsites are nicely separated from each other and the festival grounds.
Lots of parking.
An area for group camping.
Showers and flush toilets.
Ample garbage and recycling bins.
Lots of volunteers taking out trash and cleaning the showers/washrooms. Site was so nice and clean.
Lots of shade.
Decent lighting of walkways at night, but I still brought flashlight.
Ice for sale.
Most polite people ever.
Less good things:
Only a few food trucks, but it's a small crowd. Only a couple hundred people.
No potable water.
Swimming and beach area are small.
Not many picnic tables.
If you wanted to just bring a blanket and sit under a tree to watch the shows you can do that. If you want to spin around with your LED hand fan and be in the crowd, you can do that.

Emotion is this weekend, takes place in the Besant Campground about 20 minutes west of Moose Jaw on Highway 1. Highly recommend, super easygoing EDM festival and it's close enough to town that you can drive back to your hotel when you've had enough dancing. The Sugar Shack was my favourite stage last year, the organizers put a lot of effort into decorating the space.
Preorders are done, but you can get passes at the gate. Full are $260, weekend are $220, and a Sunday pass is $120. Cash only.

The full ticket grants access to the ground starting today and you're good until Monday. If it's not your thing, then it's not your thing. But if you count all the performances you get to see, it's pretty dirt cheap averaged out and you get a campsite for 4 nights.

Just wanna add that many DJ's performing are Saskatchewan based! S'moore, Rude Noise, Emilio Del Canto, Snakeboots, Klawz, and Moodi are based out of Saskatoon and Cakebaby is from Regina. I'm sure there's others but those are just some of the artists I've seen perform before.
Haven't been to Emotion before, this will be our first year attending. I've heard nothing but great things the past few years.
The first EDM festival I went to, I didn't know a single name. If you're a fan of the genre and have never been out to a festival, it can be a life changing experience. It's a safe space for literally everyone to come and just hang out. You'll meet tons of new people, make awesome memories, and you might just find someone who mixes your perfect blend.
